Protoculture - New Directions is a brilliant fluff track
-
Ok, haven't heard all of them. But i didn't recall that DMT was 6/4, but now i remember. I'd call it 3/4 though but doesnt matter.
-
thanks for the feedback The hi sounds i forgot before the mixdown but i knew that already. About the bass: I will try to tweak the bass and maybe make it more upfront. Maybe a little more lo-frequency percussion aswell? Thank you very much!

I make music that doesn't sound anything else. Maybe i will not be better at producing than someone making only psy but i have fun while making it, and you can recognise i made it.

Ozric Tentacles, Pink floyd. Haven't heard anything of shpongle with non 4/4. But do you mean non 4/4 as in not putting a bassdrum on every 4th note? then i guess shpongle counts, with some breakbeats and stuff.

Yep m8

THE last minute introduces a nice groove, something it missed before. So i think you should decrease the little boring part before that and keep building on the groove you reach in teh end.
-
You've got nice sounds and effects and the production of the effects is good. The mixing could use some work but what you should focus on is the variation. The bass seems to be the main element and it does not variate at all. The trippy side effects build slowly but the feeling is that nothing happens, until the last 1,5 minute where there is a break. But all you do really is bring out some parts. This song is well produced and has some nice effects but is in desperate need of a climax. It starts to rock subtly half a minute before the end. Take away some minutes before that and build upon that melody, because it with some more melodic elements this could be an adrenaline kick! Now i wont complain anymore... But i hope my feedback was a little better than a "this killargh rox" at least for your musical development. And i wanna tell you i'm not better than you at all. Just tried to give constructive tips! Keep it up!

Lemmiwinks: i see what you mean but dont you think that it's good to know how to describe an artists style, reccomend it to fans of another artist and such.

Cyzum presents: The Static Channel, with Popstream

Nice! What time is US Eastern compared to greenwich? -
I don't make them because my knowledge in this scene is too limited. I don't know enough artists, records, styles etc to make a good review.
-
Yeah i think so too. and i really, really dont understand what you were talking about, nick. Sorry for offending you though
-
I don't really understand. If you make a song in a scale, you can use any note in the scale anytime you want. but beware of chords aswell. I dont know if i helped you at all there...

Well, in terms of length it's almost done. But i need to tweak the mix and add a few oral noises () when i finally have time to go and buy a mic. Try to make it through the whole song since it keeps changing all the time, so you can find, actually, a whole bunch of different genres in it. Feel free to comment on anything, and i appreciate valuable mixing tips the most! Length is 6:45, the final version will be about 7:30 ( i will add a short intro and an outro ). Kbps: 128 One more thing: The output volume is very quiet so be prepared for that. I just wanted to make sure the file would be clipping-free. Sounds and mixing tips and tricks.

Great tips, thank you very much. You made music producing so much more complicated -
I know what you were talking about, i just wanted to share my view about it =)

Good mixing is about giving it soul and enhancing the spirit of a song. So good mixing can only be good for a song, if you know what it means. A little more on topic: I think there are some periods in a producer career. First comes "i can make that too", when you start with it and find a funky preset Then comes "damn this is hard, i will never acomplish this" which i am currently in. Then comes the last period where you have confidence in what you are doing and can make things that give the feeling of yourself. from there on you are on the way.

My latest track contains a part that is 200 bpm, but that part is in drum'n'bass style. 169 is even kinda slow for drum'n'bass. But if it's a 4/4 dance tune, it is insane for sure!
-
I dont dance but any tempo can be good. Slow tunes from like 1993-94, 140-ish progressive of today, crazy 155 stuff, anything will do as long as it all fits together.

Pink Floyd - On the Run is simply rock based on an experimental synth pattern... Wouldn't call it Psytrance even though it surely has influenced it in some way. But if we are going to speak about the earliest ones that influenced psy, we will have to go back to the birth of human race... or maybe even further back in time.
-
I listened through about half of it during sunday night i think, and rated 7 so far. I think they overuse effects and it is not very coherent... But maybe i will get the thing with it later? There is a lot that's hard to notice by the first listen.

Excactly, brilliant musician! God? Bwahahaha...

Which (free) VSTi's do u guys use
qa2pir replied to Jeller's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
You could try and use muon tau for more funky basslines. -
Thank you! I've been looking for something like that. It's good for checking the main frequency balance aswell if you're speakers/phones are not that good.
