Pure gem. Melodic all the way, either dark eastern goa riffs or emotional, cute melodies such as "Sugar Rush", but most often a perfect balance. We get 12 full tracks here (not mixed at all) and 3 of them are shorter than the "legendary line" 6 minutes. That's how it was back in the days. A song was as long as it was supposed to be, and not "between 6 and 9 minutes" One track that particularly catched my attention was "Storm", the one by Universal Sound. Very hard and modern sounding. But there is not a single track here that's bad or even "less good".

I'm only in it for like 1-2 years and i know most of the stuff Btw, my opinion changed (again); Silicon Trip is way better than Feed the Flame. More variation than on CD1 of Feed the Flame, and some nice ideas and originality (what the FUCK is up with the echoing kick drum? it's hilarious ).

Hiscore - True Freedom Wow what a track

Ooh. Seems like interesting stuff Gotta check this out myself

I've heard "Silicon Trip" and "Feed the Flame" and out of these 2, the latter wins because of it's groovyness and the fact that it's a double disc, and the second disc is really good with some Digitalis tracks in the end to chill down. The other 2 albums I've heard one track each, and they seem to be the best 2 ones though

You don't need an instrument, but i suggest you buy a MIDI keyboard, with which you can record music on to the computer and edit it there. You also need a lot of knowledge, so go read some books or take piano lessons

I have the version from EastWest Japan so the tracklist is a bit different. However, think "Possessed", "Treacle" and "Own the World" are really good.

Full-On is so sad... An entire scene dedicated to the power of the hyperbazzzline.

SkeletonMan: If modulation is that stupid way of excusing the abscence of meledies by creating loops going one not up and down and multiplying them on 5 different synth sounds... Then I clearly don't like it. This album is full of these pointless semi-melodies. The energy and driving force usually derives from the sheer amount of sounds and rawness of each sound rather than composition and arrangement of the track. Even so, I guess it's done with a certain skill, and when there are melodies, harmonies, they are usually pretty good. The music is well produced but lacks soul in my opinion. 7/10

My relation to this album has changed a bit... Now i think it's melodic content is rather poor, i mean, listen to "Questionmark" and then "Scotty's Name". They use the same scale and a very similar melody. I also think it's very depressive music, which isn't bad per se, but it sounds like he tried to make uplifting goa melodies but ended up with some dark, trippy tracks. However, these comments are mostly regarding tracks 1,2 & 4. Those are just not necessary. The other 3 tracks could have been released separately as an album since they complement each other well.

Very, very good album by Transwave! I think it exceeds "Helium" in terms of complexity, emotion and overall quality, as well as in the arrangement of the tracks, which beautifully complement each other. The tracks "Vision Quest" and "Land of Freedom" are composed by Dado alone, and these tracks are very powerful goa anthems, as opposed to the tracks Christof made alone (Tracks 3,6 & 9 i think) which are darker, trippier trance excursions. However, the best track is really "Absolum" which they made together. It starts out pretty ordinary, but in the middle a beautiful melody enters, with the same unbelievably melancholic, sentimental and just totally beautiful kind of sound as "My Dear Medical Assurance" from "Helium". It gains more power, it seems to cry out of sheer desperation, it wants to soar up to the sky, leave this world and take you with it. It almost makes me cry too. Then this fragile, very human melody just disappears and is replaced with an extremely fierce and powerful goa sound, which just pushes down all the melancholy to the ground and makes your brain turn inside out. Little hints of the, now gone, soft melody are allowed to bubble up to the surface, but are then quickly pressed down again. And that's how it ends. This track is the greatest moment of Transwave. Their best album in my opinion. It gets 9/10 because some tracks could get a bit more clear and pronounced. Favorites: 1,4,5,7,8

Excellent EP. Stunning variation in these 5 tracks; From classic Juno Reactor style, to regular goa in Total Eclipse's remix, followed by "Feel the Universe" in Koxbox's version, which is superior to the already great original. Then we land in a much weirder place and listen to Robert Liener's rework of "Magnetic", which might as well be considered as a totally new song as it shares merely a couple of sound effects with the original. The whole thing is finished off with style. "Labyrinth" is what could be considered the B-side, and a great one. 9/10

"My Dear Medical Assurance" is really divine, but all the tracks capture the goa spirit well. My least favorite is "A Journey In The Outerspace (Remix)" which, to be honest, isn't very good, and the ones i like the most (except the fabulous MDMA that is so obviously the best for me) are "Biolab Epilogue" and "The Rezwalker (Live)", thinking about how the live gig was at which the latter was played sends a tingle down the spine. 8/10

I thought this thread was mainly about 10 year old projects
-
Zubzub's 2nd album is good too
-
Encens - Spiritual Transgression Good track indeed, Maxx. Zubzub makes some psytrance. It's the side project of Zia (don't remember his surname) who played bass in Ozric Tentacles.
-
Did you first hear psytrance on mp3 or on a cd?
qa2pir replied to cangrejo's topic in General Psytrance
I think i bought my first psytrance CD in 2003, but I'm not sure if i had downloaded anything before that. -
Dancing Galaxy: Magical track, very light and melancholic, but so well composed that it's no where near the border to cheese. One of the best goa songs ever. Soundform: The other side of the coin... This is more sinister and evil, but still not very dark. A mad track with a classic melody. Flying Into a Star: This song is more slowly progressing, the melodies are not very well pronounced and i think it's intented to be more of an "atmospheric" track. It's OK, but not a masterpiece No One Ever Dreams: This is atmospheric like "Flying Into a Star", but with the crazy goa insanity of "Soundform"! Very good track! Cosmic Ascension: This track always fails to grab my attention, no matter how many times i play it. Life On Mars: Competent but not mindblowing. Liquid Sun: The name describes the track perfectly; this is like a melting pot of pleasant emotions wrapped in a layer of perfectly arranged goa. Ambient Galaxy: Dancing Galaxy in a slower fashion. This might as well have been left out, as it adds nothing. They should have created a totally new ambient track for the end instead of remixing an already perfect dance track, in my opinion. Best tracks: 1,2,4,7 Final Verdict: 9/10
