  1. I think that makes three of us, Dissolving Clouds was one of my favourite albums of the last year. Must say I haven't heard anything of this album yet...
  2. Track 2: oooh wow, it's a flute! Now that's a very underlighted instrument, could we hear some more of these mystical tones? I'm a so emotionally touched I want to cry. Sigh... It's not only Shulmans fault, it's a general lack of creativity to me. Stop using ethnic vocals and flutes, PLEASE! The track does break down in a sweet little guitar melody with an evenly cute beat under it. I put on ' Consciousness Revoked' and feel that if he'd put some kind of dubby beat (or any other kind of rhythm to create constancy), it might have been a great song. But when it stays like this, I can't feel too compassionate about it. Hmmm, it gets better towards the end, the metallic-ish idm-ish inspired ticks sound cool, but still.. Now what I don't like about track 6: the vocals are just enormously annoying, I've heard those a thousand times in slightly different versions and they all manage to irritate the shit out of me. Try something new, pleeeaaaze! Other than that it really sounds a lot like Shpongle, which isnt a bad thing, but well... It still sounds too much like a 'thought up' connection of sounds without the organic touch to it, without ... well ... I'ma go say it again: emotion, feeling. Where is it? Shulman sure knows his way round his computer, his synths and touchpads, but ... it lacks melody. Finally Instability: vocals sound pretty good, atmospheric layers also work well, other sounds keep sounding random from time to time but this is more coherent than the rest of his album. Even the chanting monks (originality, helloooooooo) don't sound that bad. Yeah, I guess this song is the best on the album: it's got emotion and all that. It's idmbient-ish. And it might even be considered a little trippy, which I like. Plus I think Charlie rightfully considered this the climax of the album and it does indeed very much climaxic. Right on! Ok, I know keep saying "it's not bad" instead of "this is wonderful" but you have to understand where I came from. And you know what it is... It is very well produced, he's created some really trippy sounds, but overall it just sounds like a well put together dadaistic collage of layers of sounds. It's too random to be coherent. Another point is: I wouldnt play this in the chillout and that is one kind of criterium for me. Another is whether I could put this on when tripping. And I wouldnt: for listening music I'd still prefer FSOL, the Orb, Boards of Canada, Solar Fields, Higher Intelligence Agency etc. etc. But I'm still glad some people like it, he definitely didn't waste his efforts, hehehe.
  3. Check! Albums in the mail today! Nothing beats waking up and seeing a little package in front of your door. faze is the man, once again, and now I'll stop saying it or I'll look like a suck-up. But hey: listening to Androcell right now, hell yeah! I think it's gonna be either Atmos-Spheres or Dub Crickets, but who knows what it'll be... By the way, the artwork in the booklet inside the digipack rocks ass as well, verrrry nice! Woohoo, this is one happy Snaap right here!
  4. ^ Yeah man, I agree. Especially the chillout tuesday afternoon, starting @ 15:00 o'clock. wicked stuff for sure
  5. I can not (I repeat NOT) get into Shulman. I just can't. I think I have a pretty good taste in chillout/ambient/whatever but Shulman is totally wasted on me. It sounds too artificial, prefigured, emotionless... It starts to irritate me too quick, which good music shouldn't. Can't find anything good about this.. I'm very sorry to all fans, but I really don't understand this music somehow..

I havent listened to this one, since I bought his 2nd album first and hated it. [/edit]
  7. Sounds interesting, and Cozi looks interesting. Sexy picture.
  8. woohoo! I just hope they arrive before the 23rd so I might give em a spin for an audience this weekend... Nicey nice fazeyboy!
  9. its really wonderful that you can always expect any reply from bahamut to include steve roach, vir unis and robert rich. ahahah!
  10. Today I ordered (for myself, that is, I ordered some more cds from http://www.itathens.com/index.php?file=store who are having a pretty good sale. I found 11 cd's for 8 euros each! Mine were (unfortunately I could get all the albums I wanted, but wtf) Solar Fields - Extended Solar Fields - Reflective Frequencies VA - Elucidations Ten Madison - Trouble in Rio Kumba Mela Experiment - East of River Ganges I had wanted to buy Tripswitch, Floating Point 3 and Eat Static - Abduction, but they were all sold out already...
  11. Nah, forget it. Just that you can buy weed everywhere, unfortunately doesn't mean you smoke it anywhere. You can smoke in the coffeeshops, in private locations, of course at most parties (discotheques are another story though) but not in public places. Most of the time people don't mind if you smoke in parks or on the streets, but if you find a quiet spot, you'll most likely not be bothered...
  12. Heva! Rah! Congrats!!! Since I already have Bluetech, can I make it easier for you? ... Today I was sure I had to buy Androcell, even though I'm kinda short on money. Mr. FrozenRealm told me I had won something. Noooo!!! Oh wait, there's no list or anything. Does this mean I can choose whichever cd I want? Hmmm... give me a day or two and I'll let you know. Weeeeeeeh, Faze made my day!! I'm actually excited! Androcell? Tripswitch (since I don't own the original yet...)? Cheers Faze-dude~! [edit]In all my excitement I didnt even read Faze's post well... so duplicate choices are fine? Man, this contest gets even cooler when you win something. Nicey nice! And I'm glad to be number three, since it's the magic number....
  13. ^ Yeah, it is real and I like it!
  14. groove floor is about non-full on stuff... progressive anyone? good idea to put a second stage so you can avoid the madness from time to time...
  15. Now, this has been an idea in my head for quite some time. I have a problem with Amazon... And it's mainly because I have a money problem. I love searching Amazon for second-hand albums; you can get some sold-out items for only a few bucks and get some really cool old stuff through Amazon. But the problem is: when I order to Holland, most cd's come from separate places and so they send em separately too... Which means that I end up paying about 12 US$ per cd, so I end up paying the same amount I normally would at Psyshop, Saikosounds, normal stores... Ideally I would send all albums to one place (in the States) so I could cut down on sending prices (...?) and still have an advantage, i.e. paying the right price for second-hand albums. Anyone have good advice? Or could I abuse someone's US address to send my cd's to, so they could put em all in the same envelope and save me some money? I admit that it's kinda abusive, but hey: we could work out a nice deal that works for both of us... Anyway, has anyone been contemplating over the same problem? Suggestions? Any help would be cool! Or maybe European sites that have that many 2nd-hand albums? Cheers, Snaap
  16. Nooooo, especially not in Amsterdam. I think most of em close at 12, or maybe 1 pm, at last. Now, if you come to Groningen, it's all whole different story (but still, coffeeshops aren't open that late generally)
  17. Wow, now couldnt you be more wrong! You're naming some of the best and most inventive chill acts of these last eeeeh, whatever timeperiods it is. I think I can agree only to this: I wouldn't play Shpongle because it's been overplayed, same as goes for Entheogenic, Ott and maybe even Bluetech. But how can you compare Bluetech to Shpongle? Nice melodic and emotional dubby tunes, heavily influenced by idm-bient and other electronic genres. Really good, soothing and trippy stuff. And the Tripswith album also seems to grow more and more on me: it's full of outstanding tracks. Same goes for Androcell. Don't listen to traveller, listen to abasio! Or listen to Shaft! Or Basilisk! Or listen to me, I have a very good taste in chillout too!
  18. Ha! Not only is this supremely mixed, the cover art is outstanding as well! At first I thought it was a little too dark too, but when I realised what it actually was, I got a little embarassed because ... well: when I get my first real cd out, it'd have to look even better. Now, how am I gonna do that? Hahaha, but hey; I'm really positively surprised by mister 'Nightmare Trancer'. And you know what? There's a little hippy inside all of us that sometimes pops his head out to throw some nice sweet lovely positive feelings in the mix. Betta believe it!
  19. hey hey abasio: me thinks you have a great taste in chillout music! my favorite track might also be skyclad! nice one! although, i must say i really like bin liner too... And ehm, talking about Tripswitch, I'm listening to it as we speak and just now I discovered this quite trancey -beforelast- track, Viscous Nicey nice, creepy and psychedelic and freaky and even danceable. I might give this a spin when I'm gonna play next time. Any more recommendations? Haven't bought a good chilled out album in months! (but then again, I haven't had any money either... hehe )
  20. I had a hard time thinking about this one, because I replay everything sometimes but then again I keep getting more and more music all the time, so I'll have to listen to it eventually. But! Finally I received both Flexitones - Joy Rider and Hi Fi Companions - Swingers in Paradise and I believe it's the last one I might have listened most times to, this year. But then again it might also be V/A - Mellowgrounds ... I dunno, but does it really matter? All I want is to win this contest once and for all!
  21. hahaha poor you! you have no idea what you missed out on?
  22. exactelementemundo! and for that same reason too! funny as hell.
