  1. oh so in other words you have already listened to 99% of the tracks that fit your search criteria and don't really care about any recomendations here cause you already know the tracks... happy trolling to you too :)

Dude lay off the bashing. The only trolling here at the moment is from you!

  2. well you've obviously haven't seen the tribute to Elysium topic then, have you? Anyway, my main issue is that these posts have all the trademarks of a psynew troll: people posting wierd things in a "scientific" manner, reminding me of such illustrious former psynews figures as feathers and Jacob... anyway, I guess it really doesn't matter what I think about all this, if you're ok with him then please recommend him some stuff.

No I did not see that topic and frankly I do also not see any trolling in that topic no matter if it's about my music or any ones else. And I do not agree that a person is a troll just because he or she does not meet your standard of "normal". Then a lot of present and past members here should have been labeled "trolls" if we go down the road of "weirdness". Incl. yourself and me ;)

So maybe it is b-whale or maybe it's not. I don't really know and I wont jump to conclusions. Let's leave that to Mars. But just because someone make a "weird" topic in your opinion does not make them an instant troll. One thing though. Go to his/her profile. I have not yet seen b-whale fill out the profile as deepXcode's. So maybe give this member the benefit of the doubt before pointing fingers?

And my initial reaction was not toward your post even though I also find it judgmental. It was toward longloststar's rather unkind remark.

    Have a great Weekend :)

  3. meh you're just taking his side because he's recomending your stuff ;) It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that this dude is actually yet another one of bwhale's multiple personalities who's pulling your leg. Think about it...

Actually I don't get the idea of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class (where my tracks are included) as if my tracks are less important. But that's of course taste. So no I am not taking his side at all because he has included my music and that is a very typical cheap shot from your side to justify your agenda against him.

I find your reaction against him weird as I did not see any part from his side that could justify your reaction.

And you really seem to see bwhale Ghosts everywhere ;)

  4. Yes. Maybe you could change your mind before you call the rest of us a bunch of elitist bullies in future.

Holding a grudge ;) Get over it mate :)

And yes some of you, I can't remember if you participated so don't take it personal, have bullied certain people in the past. That was and still is my reference. But as I said get over it. It's getting old with all the references you make.

  5. Well my thoughts exactly... it's always the same: artists just reach a limit where they can't advance any more with a given set of rules so then they need to start over again with something different. Hence psytrance and all its sub-genres have reached their natural limit of evolution and it is just time to let it die in peace and move to something else. And I mean this time it's a major change, the same way that electronic music took over rock music, a "mammals are replacing dinosaurs" kindof thing, not just a "small evolution" like when goatrance evolved from trance or when full-on evolved from goa. Again, I'm not just speaking of my personal feelings here, I'm just saying what I see, based on what is being played at parties, which is also the reason why I say that dubstep is the new psytrance and not techno, or hardcore or whatnot. I don't think that hardcore or detroit techno or D&B were ever played at VuuV, but dubstep has...

I also said it was stone cold dead - well about Goa trance - but I have changed my mind and don't really believe that anymore. Its all about evolving and looking for new ways. I still believe there's are many people out there who would love to get into a real trance experience all over again. All they need are some artists to lead the way. I don't say I will be the one todo that but I will for sure try to get that old vision of what trance is really about back into my own music. And if I am lucky then some people will like what they hear and maybe I can start my own little "revolution" in the psytrance scene. It's worth a try. I believe people are open. Let's see if the organizers are too. And if they are then I seeno reason why it should not be possible to get "Trance" back into the Trance festivals.

  6. It might be more meaningful to explain WHY, but I highly doubt Oforia cares either way, so it's easier to all just say "it's shit" and revel in our self-righteousness. :) Everyone does it, subconsciously or otherwise, don't worry.

What if you got a free meal that was disgusting and you'd rather not have wasted your time with it? I would complain unless I had some vested interest or they were bigger than me. :D

P.S. I meant to ask earlier... why is there a huge dangling penis on your new album cover? Serious question, could you put a loin cloth on him or make it a her so we don't have to look at that?

ahhh i should have known b-whale is back. Good to know so i can ignore you from now on ;)

  7. Well it's peoples choice how they get their music. The only thing voters in the best of list can affect is which releases are ranked higher than others.... No direct connection to file sharing unless we start including stolen unreleased items in the poll. ;)

File sharing happens no matter if is free music or CD's included in a pool. And the assumption that free downloads generate more illegal file sharing is a weird thought. How can free music generate illegal sharing? ;)

It's true that many released CDs suck. That will be shown in whether they get voted highly or not. There could be a few friends who vote for crap to try and promote it, but I think the number should be tiny. The difference with free releases is that different audiences tend to listen to them, very few people catch the free releases and physical releases, so asking people to compare them all together isn't realistic. There are lots of people with a vested interest in free music who either have low exposure to non-free music or would vote biasedly in a mixed poll to promote their interests.

We all have a say in the poll.... Maybe we should just scrap the best of because nobody should dictate what is good and bad?

Music is music no matter if it's on a physical media such as an CD or available as a free download. An artist getting released on a CD is no more professional or a better musician than an artist releasing music for free. That is an old overused myth. There is no difference. That's my point. You got to dig for the quality releases on CD and digital releases and you got to dig to find the gold in the free releases. You will see more and more of the so-called "Professional" artist realize the future does not belong inside a CD.

My point is that its on high time this forum and istratrance etc. give the free releases, and digital shop releases, the credits they deserve. Other scenes are far ahead of the psytrance scene in that regard. This can be done by opening up sections where people can review free releases etc. Or as in this case include these relases into Pools so its not just another Best CD Pool.

To sample all releases from a shop and include it to vote for in a Pool is really a very limited Pool. Give people the freedom to choose from inside their brains instead of copy pasting releases from a shop and make sure to include digital and free releases as a separate choice just like "best cover-art" etc.

  8. Actually the psytrance scene is a direct follower from the closing of the 80's and start of the 90's German trance scene which was a direct follower from American early House (Detroit) and mid/late 80's Disco. Then you got some links to European (Benelux countries) Body Music and Industrial Techno and later on some hippies going to Goa connected their rather small contribution to the scene with psychedelic rock. But if you look at the correct link Trance as an over all genre incl psytrance has got nothing or very little to do with the psychedelic rock scene from the 60's. Only the lifestyle and attitude was adopted from that era. Not really the music (except for a few artists who feel that connection).

  9. People can criticize whatever they want, whether you like it or not.... Artist don't have to release their music if they're scared to hear feedback on it. ;)

You totally misunderstood my point. Bravo ;) It's got nothing to do with being scared of critisism. Who ever gave you that silly idea?

Of course they can do what they want to but then don't expect any artist to take them seriously. However seriously critique with a "why" they don't like the music is much more valuable than "its shit".

And seriously no I don't think it's any ones right to say a thing if they have downloaded the music for free, kept it on the desktop, still listen to the music but refuse to pay for it. Then they should shut it!

The same goes for a person getting a free meal. If you don't like it fine but don't complain!

  10. Good question.

Free music is a big problem for these polls for 2 reasons:

    1. if people listen predominantly to free music because it's free, they won't have adequate exposure to professionally released music to properly compare it

    2. crusaders for free music will probably skew the vote towards free releases to promote open file sharing (I see this attitude all the time)

I think we need to have a completely separate poll for free releases.

Some things are released on both CD/CDr and for free and it could get quite confusing, so we'd need some guidelines maybe depending on:

    - dates of releases

    - quality of free release

    - distribution of physical release

    - how well artist is known in scene

I think it will be somewhat subjective in the end and mars would have to give the final say.

I don't agree at all. It's an old way at looking at things. And I doubt it makes more people download music for free than today. On the other side how can you assure promoting CD's in Polls wont have the same effect on ripping and sharing CD's ? ;)

The argument with pro contra bedroom producer is really nonsense there days where releasing a CD is the easiest thing in the world. Many CD's should probably never have seen the day of light if we go down the pro/bedroom producer argument ;)

And in the end who are any of us to dictate what is good or bad music?

  11. @ Lemmiwinks

Even though I like Dubstep it can never be the new Trance for one reason. Trance in its simple meaning is all about getting into a state of trance through repetitive beats. Dubstep does not apply to that at all. Whereas example Techno or Tech House could easily fit the term.

  12. I do not think it’s anyone’s business to criticize an artist’s choice of direction in music. That is solely up to the artist to chose.

When that is said I do think its ok for people to express their disappointment in the QUALITY of the music. But it has to be done in a constructive way and not as done in a few cases based on feelings.

As an artist I value criticism to a point. I do not mind people telling me they do not like my music IF they also say why and criticize my music in a constructive way. If they just say “It sucks” then I cannot use their opinion at all.

So there is a fine line in the way you criticize an artist’s work.

Its not appropriate for anyone to criticize music they did not pay for but still keep on their Desktop. But that’s another debate ;)

  13. In the past we did it with everybody posting his vote, so people were able to see what others voted. So why not keeping that system? If anybody has a problem with others seeing his votes, he wouldn't have voted in the last years either.

I see no need to change that. But I also have no problem if you make it anonymous. Do what you like, I will vote anyways.

I thought that free and digital releases always can be included ... or not?

Maybe you are right but it would not hurt to have those categories included in order to encourage people to also give these releases some credits since we don't see much credit from people when it comes to free downloads. A bit strange really.

It was also a request to make a "sub" forum within the reviews section where people can review free releases and digital releases. Again to encourage them to include these releases on the same level as CD's.

  14. Pay only the flight ticket in advance (or add 25% if you trust the people or if they require it), the rest you give him after the gig!

I would never travel to the other side of the world without at least 50% in advance paid at least one month prior to the departure (I need to be able to get other bookings if the organizer does not live up to the agreement), which by the way. is standard advance. Its simply too risky!

Those Organizers who refuse to pay in advance are not serious in my book and I would never work with them.

  15. A suggestion.

Include free and digital releases. I see so little "Best off" including free and digital releases even though we now are in 2010 and the quality releases within these platforms are increasing by the day.

Even better make a Digital and Free section in the reviews section. It's on high time I think.

    Cheers and Happy New Year.

  16. well how can he have cancer if he is performing the same evening in South Africa? And from the Isratrance forum it seems that the Mexican organizer wasn't the only one having troubles with him. Anyway I guess it's not any of my business anyway and that I probably have better things to do on New Year's day... sorry for the spamming I guess I just miss the off topic days on psynews ;)

Rumors spread so fast on the internet. Again because someone write something does not make it the whole truth. Especially not when the other part is not around to have his say ;)

As I said. Get the facts right before defending someone. That's why I told this Mexican Organizer to moderate his language (liar, thief, criminal etc.) and to stop spamming (He posted the same thing in two different forums here - the same as on other communities). And his reaction was to attack me like a 12 year old child would when they have no arguments.

I have long time ago learned that what I read on the internet, and on trance communities, has to be taken lightly. Because 70% is made up nonsense ;)

  17. hey dude don't you think that's a bit radical? By doing that you're basically discouraging honest people from warning other honest people about someone dishonest... doesn't look very ethical to me...

The guy is a major spammer and his posts has been locked not only here. Furthermore he make use faul language and attack people who ask him to moderate his language and stop spread rumors when the 2nd part are not around to defend himself. Just imagine if Frozen Ghost indeed has cancer. Who knows!

I do not agree in banning people but I agree that the topic was closed. Especially when the 2nd part is not here to have his say!

And you are assuming he is honest? Out of what evidence? I can not assume anything when the 2nd part is not here with his version and especially not after seeing how he react.

  18. The task of uploading the whole Elysium back catalog is almost done with a few tracks gone missing.

I did not include the special israeli release "Monzoon" because the tracks on this release are to be found on the other releases on the site.
