  1. bwhale/sunwolf/eiko/elysium strikes again!

It's a pity you feel it's nessesary to call me a troll. I for one is no troll. I just express my honest personal opinion. I know you disagree with me but try something new. Respect other people's opinion and debate without the namecalling every time someone does not match your opinion. This way debates become so much more polite.

So you consider music that's here for around ±15 years old? And people shouldn't create such music any more just because of that reason? I don't think there's much stuff left for you to hear then, haha.

No not at all and that's not really the point I am trying to make. My point in this "debate" is that what's now considered "New Goa" in my opinion has very little to do with the Goatrance I consider to be genuine Goatrance and used to like. I think I explained my point quite well in an earlier post in this debate. Click back and read it if you like.

  2. I have to agree with Antic even though I respect the Suntrip guys from releasing according to their taste/vision and not what's the current trend in the psytrance scene.

To me the whole Goa scene is long gone and merry memories I will always carry with me. Out of curiosity I have pre-listened to most Suntrip releases and most of these releases try too hard to sound old-school and end up being copies of something already made years back. But IMO without the magic or innovation I experienced listening to the old classic goa tunes in the 90's. It's probably just me and the fact I have "Been there done that" whereas newcomers (and a few hardcore oldies) probably will see it as a "new" genre and therefore think this is "it". But what I personally lack from the Suntrip releases are new ideas and looking forward instead of looking back repeating what others already did, IMO better.

If you have to repeat/revive something you have to make sure you do it in a unique way and not just ending up with a product too close to what’s already been explored. And IMO this has not yet happened with the Suntrip releases.

But I wish you guys and your artists the best and all the success in the World.

  3. Well, to be honest 'what's wrong with people' is also quite misleading. I think naming the thread something like 'what's wrong with people uploading free stuff to paid-for services like Jamendo without artists' consent' would be more fair... ;)

I don't like when a moderator edit something I have written. I think it's a no go as long as it's not offensive etc. But done is done so I'll move on :)

My suggestion was "What's wrong with some people?" as it's clear that some people have no moral or ethics when it comes to artist legal property (music).

But your suggestion is nice too :)

  4. Who changed the title of this debate? Mars?

It's a misguiding title and not what I named the debate. It's not Jamendo's fault that some person uploaded my music without my permission. On the contrary Jamendo have been nothing but supportive and very fast to react.

Please change the title back to what it was: "What's wrong with some people?"

  5. The huge joke about this list are the bands that never Dj'ed one day in their life. I still haven't understood what they are doing on a Dj list?

On the commercial side this list is a very good income boost for those Dj's (and misplaced bands) ending up on the list because many Commercial Clubs around the World book Dj's from this list. We are talking big money if you are on this list.

  6. It's ok if you do that, but don't make it public like that. You're only going to scare potential downloaders with that kind of talk.

What kind of talk? I'm just behing honest and by law I have to inform them on my website anyway. And I dont see anything wrong in having some sort of minor control over who's downloading my music from now on. If people do not want this sort of info shared with me they are welcome not to download my music.

  7. Humm how about whoever did it is a fan with good but misjudged intentions? The grimmest explanation does not necessarily have to be the right one always.

Just email jamendo to take it off.

Well it can not be a mistake since you have to declare that you indeed is the artist and hold the copyright to the music you upload while signing up at Jamendo. It's made very clear to people! So no mistake there. I've had a talk with Jamendo and all has been taken down now. They are looking into who did this and if they find out who it is that person might face some legal trouble from Jamendo's side as they have strict rules about violating artists Copyright and breaking their rules. However I doubt it will come to this. But I will from now on be more careful and probably make an IP tracking system of each of the downloads on my site and also ask for an email address and name etc.

  8. It's not that they don't think, they just don't care. I've talked with some people about similar subjects and was told flat out "I don't care."

It's one of the symptoms of an increasing sense of entitlement in a lot of places.

    Yeah you are right.

I look forward to see Jamendo's reply though. And would love to know who the person is that uploaded my music to their site (I am sure they wont tell me) :)

  9. i have to honestly say that i picked up ya music that might be tagged as goa psy or psy chill to spead other the new via pirate bay torrent , just to make it available for free to all who is interested

That's fine with me. The music is free so I have no problem with people adding it to torrents, blogs, forums etc. Even though I don't know why people would settle with less quality when they can get the full wav quality from my own site or Ektoplazm.

but that jumbo site is trying to achive some benefits from what is supposted to be free ?

That's why I get so angry. They have no legal or moral right to license my music out to companies without a prior agreement with me and full payment to me. I simply do not understand why they do not ask for Copyright proof before they agree to host music and license it out. As I see it their service is probably infected with stolen music!

  10. I just discovered that my free to download Elysium live-set from Antaris-Project 2009 has been uploaded to Jamendo without my permission. Normally I would not protest as the live-set is intended to be free to download and all promotion is good promotion but I discovered that Jamendo offer my music as a commercial license to Companies for a fixed fee. This is a criminal act as I do not see any of the money (if ever my music was licensed out that is) and furthermore it's a direct violation of my Copyright.

What is wrong with the person who in the first place uploaded my music to Jamendo creating an account in my artist name? It seem to me some people just don’t think. First they get the music for free and then they try to make money out of my music. Where has the ethics and moral gone in this scene?

If you like to download my music then do it from my personal website in full wav or from Ektoplazm.

  11. kox as in koks (correct Danish spelling) which is "refined" coal actually is something they used in the old days to burn and get energy (heat or what ever), but it could indeed be a coincidence ;)

Yeah i know the word Koks. It was actually used in the Livingroom fireplace when i was a kid :)

The reason why I doubt the idea about slang is because of all the times I have played with Frank'E and partied with him in the old days. And I never once heard him say Koxbox was danish slang.

  12. Koxbox is Danish slang and when translated to English roughly means, 'energy box'.

    Source: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Koxbox

I'm Danish and I have never come across Koxbox in the Danish Language whether it be slang or not (I could be wrong though). As far as I remember Frank'E told me it was the Name of his and the original Koxbox founding member Peter Candy's "Christiania" Radio Show prior to starting Koxbox.

  13. What's more entertaining are all the diehard fans (included in this forum) who seem to take a personal grudge against people who do not share their at times fanatic fascination of Posford's music or the man himself. Not that it's not good music. But at times I feel like saying "Get a life" :)

It's also great fun to see how hard these diehard fans will go to extra lengths to research who's who in the debates and what they eat and when they fart :)

On another note. I thought this topic was about KoxBox's music?

  14. Let's get the facts right here.

Yes it is illegal to copy, broadcast and public perform other artists music without their written approval (Would end all Dj gigs tomorrow if anyone took this serious). BUT it is considered to be 100% ok to promote other artists music such as DJ’ing/free DJ mixes etc. And that is exactly what you are doing as as a Dj. If it was not considered ok no one (labels/artists) would send their promos to Dj's. The labels and artists actually need the promotion.

All you got to do is to make sure each track in your Mix is written on a playlist like this:

Artist - Track (incl. mix title) [label]

    Promo CD

To make a Promo CD for a Club (If we talk about a CD they will use for promoting the Club?) is illegal no matter if it's a free CD or not. Unless you have the written permission to use all tracks. These permissions are obtained via the Labels who usually hold the copyrights.

No one would mind if you send a Club your Dj mix on a CD to promote yourself even though in theory it’s illegal too.

  15. I think you meant Cinos.

One thing I noticed about you is that you tend to stick up for the "little" guy.

It's even reflected in your music and the political ideas behind it like for example "Shameful SIlence" and connection to the people in Lebanon, "Keep It Cool" for the war in Bosnia back in a day, comments about immigrants in Denmark and "fascist" government etc.

Obviously I don't know you in person, but you do seem to care for people that are in some sort of way underprivileged or at least perceived as such from your perspective.

Kind of like Zoro or Robin Hood.

This is just an observation, kind of an "Elysium" theme I noticed over time.

It definitely isn't meant to make fun of you and if anything, you deserve praise for willing to stand up for these kinds of issues.

I can't think of many artists, public names in this scene or any for that matter that would be willing to get down and dirty into a thread with bunch of unknown people, put your name on the line, to stand up for what you believe and help someone you have

    never even met.

I was would be interesting to hear your comments on this.

What motivates you to do such things?

    Very off-topic. Sorry Mars.

I think it's the way I have been brought up by my parents and I have numerous times got myself into trouble for standing behind what I see as injustice. All my childhood I was lectured from teachers to keep my mouth shut when they unjust picked on a student for various reasons. But I always feel a need to speak my mind when I see injustice. I am sure if I was wiser I would just keep my mouth shut :)

I've never really thought about if it would harm my music career. It probably does but that's a price I am willing to pay. I rather air my honest opinion than keep silent as so many artists do because they are afraid to lose gigs and/or popularity.

I have the biggest respect for artists such as Bono for always speaking his mind. And funny enough he became more popular doing so. Sometimes I think the many so-called open-minded people in the psy/goa/progressive/full on scene are the most close-minded people I have come across. Of course I cannot generalize as there are many open-minded people too. But quite a few I have come across want to have a image of being into environmental issues (Save the World, Hug a tree, Save the Wales etc.), even though they trash nature like none else at various parties, are consuming electronics like no one else etc. They also want to be humanitarian correct so they support a "Free Tibet" but get downright insulting, some even hysteric, when someone like me dare to support child victims in Lebanon. And I could go on. I am sure you get my point.

So I guess my motivation is that I really can’t stand hypocrisy and hateful people no matter if they are small minded racists (yes they do exist in this scene and also in disguise as Artists, Dj’s etc. We are no more Saints than any other “community”) or just people who do what they are told because the people they surround themselves with say so.

  16. Elysium, nobody here flames people for not liking Goa/Psy. You seem to have your own conception of the people here, based perhaps on past times.

I would indeed like the names of the people who mock and the people mocked, would help me alot to understand your criticism. I would also like the names of the people who can be called trolls other than bwhale (and why)...

And I strongly disagree about you and JonCrow's theory of the "stagnant elitist opiniation". People at the beginning of the thread were ready to criticize Koxbox. I personally (and I am sure most of the people here) have no problem getting their favourite artists criticized. As long as when they try to discuss about it they don't get called "stupid" every two sentences. Then there is a problem with the criticizer, don't you think?...

I think you need to take a closer look at many past and recent threads. To say nobody here mock those who haven't got the same music taste is absolutely wrong! I have seen many comments putting people down when they do not agree with those who think Psy/Goa is superior to anything else or just simply have another taste in artists or don't think (an example) that Posford is that amazing etc. etc.

This got nothing to do with my past (Cheap shot and nothing to do with this debate). It's just an observation that I see some of you guys still do not want to acknowledge as being true. Wonder why ;)

You asked for names. Even though it's of an older date as they were driven away by the pie news clicque, and at that time, a few of their moderator friends accepted this in my opinion unacceptable behaviour and even joined in, here are a few of the names that got the FULL and worse pie news mocking, slaughter, bullying till date. And why? Because they were different, not as "cool" as those who did the mocking, did not have many friends here and was a bit geeky.

    Radi

That Swedish guy with his Wolf obsession (Sorry forgot the name)

If you still object to the facts then I feel sorry for your denial.

Now these names had the worse mocking I've seen in forums. And then there still are the small bullets fired at others for not sharing the same views as you guys. Not as serious as the two above mentioned examples but still serious enough to keep people from signing up to pie news.

That's the naked truth like it or not.

    And back to Koxbox.

Frank has announced a soon to be released new Album on Ibizrecords. I hope it won’t be even more Full on which seem to be the trademark coming from that Island.

  17. Don't do that man.

Don't act like you don't know what's going on.

Sneila is on10. (it's more than obvious now).

    on10 was bwhale.

    bwhale is sunwolf.

A guy that enjoys to get an account in psynews, mess with ppl, get banned and register again.

Trust me if ppl have realized sooner that sneila is bwhale then the first reply would be like 'Go to hell'.

Because this is what trolls deserve.

I dont really care about bwhale. If he is as bad as you say (some of you could also be called trolls hehe) then ignore the dude. My main point is still that all is old news here. I cannot count the many times people have been mocked, bashed and been the target of very rude insults by the elite here. Just because they were a bit different, had other views than the "open minded" ones or had different taste in music than the ûber cool Goa/Psytrance (people haven't moved on in taste the last +10 years here wink wink). I can make a list of people that never deserved the bullying at pie news. And I 100% agree with JonCrows latest input. So this was and is my 2 cents. Now go on and bully whoever you like and tell them their taste is wrong etc. It does not make this place grow with fresh blood. On the contrary! But maybe that is your strategy. To keep it a place for the few :)

  18. Oh, do shut up. Had you bothered to read the thread before playing the victim card by proxy, you would have noticed that it contained nothing but amicable discussion of the topic (including two regular posters actually agreeing with sneila), up until the post which contained this:

Whether sneila is actually trolling or not, he or she received exactly the kind of response warranted by his or her attitude. Taste in music has nothing to do with it.

Way to go. What a nice debate you conduct. Sorry mate I wont shut up. You are not the King of Pie News so I will keep saying what I like. Eat that :)

And yes I did read it all and no it's not a victim card but a honest "oh shut up yourself for once" kind of reaction and yes I saw the usual small group of people telling him that his taste is wrong but their own taste is superior kind of arguments. Thats where I have object as taste is personal and theres not taste better than others.

So keep bashing people that have different views on things. That just makes you look more and more silly :)

I did see where he went over the line. But as usual you guys pushed him. Just admit it. You love to push people to stir up some action in this semi-dead forum ;)

PS! Your own contribution to the debate was amazing and I quote "fail". What a good argumental point ;)

  19. You're a bit off-track here. This guy is doing it repeatedly and purposefully because he wants to be machine gunned.

Sneila from this thread is also bwhale/eiko from these threads linked to below, and many more if you can be bothered wading through his shit-trail of various aliases and campaigns of deliberate attention-seeking negation:

    Thread 1

    Thread 2

There are moments when people engage sincerely in defence or response to some of this persons comments and I don't enjoy seeing people waste heart or effort when someone is just toying with them for cowardly entertainment. If I see this sort of behaviour while browsing the boards then I don't mind taking the time to point it out to maybe save even just one genuine person a little time, effort and feeling that they may have spent on an empty cause.

    Jon :P

I dont know the history of this person but my point still stand as I have seen it before so many times here. "We don't like your views or taste in music so therefore you must be a troll – let’s start the Lynching".

Well maybe he is a troll. Maybe he is not. Who knows? I am amazed of the Detective work you guys do just to be right ;)

But it's typical on pie news that people get into frenzy if someone does not like their “correct” taste in music and have the nerve to publish it. Take a look at what people wrote in this debate, and other similar debates, before anyone suggested this guy (or girl) was a troll.

My point is that such an “elitist” behavior kills debates.

At the end of the day this is just a silly forum and should not be taken so serious. I learned that lesson :)
