  1. The task of uploading the whole Elysium back catalog is almost done with a few tracks gone missing.

I did not include the special israeli release "Monzoon" because the tracks on this release are to be found on the other releases on the site.

  3. PS. I have a couple of questions though:

    - Why the track numbers are different from the one Discogs page?

    - Why there is another album called "Celestial Sounds And Neurotic Tribal Beats" listed and seem to have all the same tracks, only have "Neurotic" added in the title? Aren't these Neurotic?!

    - Why some tracks ends are likely being cut off..?

    - Would the remixed version of "Wind of Dust" be available?

    Hi DeepXcode.

First a warm thanks for the very nice and positive "review" of "Celestial Sounds & Tribal Beats". It's very nice to hear your comments on this Album :)

Ok let me explain it to you :)

    1. The track order on the download version is the correct way. There was an error on the CD (as on discogs) in the track order.

    2. Nova Zembla Records in Belgium (the label I was signed to) took the Album without my permission from the studio in Amsterdam, where I recorded "Celestial Sound & Tribal Beats", and released it without asking me. At that time I had major issues with them regarding not being paid my royalties so this Album was not supposed to be offered to them. The Original title was indeed supposed to be "Celestial Sounds & Neurotic Tribal Beats" but I decided to change the title a little when I released it on my own with YOYO (BNE) in Israel a year later.

    3. The original CD has all tracks mixed together. That’s why I edited some of the endings on the digital download. Later there will be original download made available with the mix untouched incl. a cue sheet (wav only).

    4. I would love to make the MOS/Elysium remix of Wind of Dust available but sadly this track and the B-side "The Scream" has DATA errors on the DAT tape I got. If anyone has those tracks I would love to get two copies :)

    Cheers and a Merry Christmas

  4. Hello Isao,

"Those Talking Machines" was finished way back then and was meant to be released on Nordic Mythology on Stone Age Records. The CD never came out and the label closed down I think. Alot of people keep asking about this track. I have promised to release this track digitally if I dont find anyone willing to release this. But both Suntrip and me think this track deserves to be released on a psychical CD..

Its possible to do both ;) Basically thats what everybody do these days and it gives people a choice :)

Was nice to talk to you on the way back from Antaris to the Airport.

    Cheers

    Kristian

  5. The new Elysium site is now online. Many more free downloads of my back catalog is being uploaded around the clock. I aim to have all Elysium releases made available in wav, mp3 and flac incl. printable original artwork (where possible).

Also notice the new blog system (guests can participate with comments) both in the News section as well as within the Release sections.

  6. You might consider having it distributed on Ektoplazm.com too.

Their web site is the leader in free downloads and will probably help you spread the sound of this one.

    Good luck !!f

I will of course talk to Basilisk about Ektoplazm :)

I don't think any known/good artists give their music to ektoplazm, and that's exactly why I avoid anything from it.

I can not agree with you. I have seen talented interesting artists releasing there and I also have my liveperformance from Antaris-Project 2009 on Ektoplazm. You should go and check out the many gems there ;)

  9. Elysium how do you think, is it possible to say that one style album is easy to produce than in other style? It can be one of reasons. ;)

I do not think one genre is easier to make than another genre. As an example minimal is extremely hard to make because it contain less sounds that need much more attention to keep the listeners attention than a track where 50 sounds are going on. But at the end of the day it's all subject to the individual musician. What comes easy to me is not necessary something another artist find easy.

    Yeah I agree with that.

Quite possibly a lot of the old school artists produced Goa, cause Goa was hot back then.

Then Full On became more popular and the artists jumped on it.

And like Basilisk said the cycle continues.

The real question IMO is: Who jumped on the full on backwagon first? The artists or the audience?

Did some artists change their styles to full on, ppl liked it and everyone else followed or

did artists change their styles to full on and ppl didn't complain?

    Wait! That's the same! :o

I am sure many artists picked up Goa because of its popularity. Especially later down the Road. But I can guarantee that many of the pioneers made the music out of pure passion for the music. It was a lifestyle as well. And I do not doubt that many into Full on do/did it out of love to the music. What I say, according to this debate, is that I know of quite a few old-school artists and Dj’s who in private will admit they do not really feel much passion toward full on but still produce/spin it because it gives them the gigs they need. I am sure many also switched to psytechno/full on techno (I won’t call it techno) because of the demand from the audience. And I bet some of these full on artist’s dont really fancy techno as much as they like full on.

I will give you an example.

    Raja Ram

He was the co-owner of TIP Records. A label that I personally think shaped the psytrance scene among a few other labels. Then it was closed down due to financial trouble and reopened as a semi full on label under the name T.I.P World. And later the cheese came out in full. And what happened to the crew that was among the psychedelic frontrunners when it came to spinning twisted psytrance as Dj’s? They suddenly switched to cheesy rolling Bassline full on overnight. Why? Well it's quite obvious to me at least. Without it they would not be able to travel the World anymore playing gigs. It is that simple!

Let’s take Koxbox. Even though I am not a personal friend to Frank I know him from talks and partying with him too. And I know his love for twisted really deep psychedelic trance. Then he moves to Ibiza and gets more involved with the Full on cheese artists there. And what is the result? Koxbox meets Full on. No one will ever be able to make me believe he love those Basslines as he has always been a musician into experimental Basslines and full psychedelic landscapes in the music. He even told me (prior to his last album release) that the world would hear something new and that the full on era would be over with the coming of his new album. hmmmm sure!

I could go on with so many other old-school artists/Dj’s and how they really do not fancy full on or even psytechno that much. But it would be a novel rather than a debate input.

Of course it's up to each one of us to do whatever we like. No doubt about it! But can anyone really blame people from questioning their reasons? I mean I can understand why some people question my shift to other scenes when they do not know my history or my passion for example Techno and underground House as well as what’s called UK House. But there is a huge difference in making certain music because you love it or because you want to maintain a certain status in a scene.

The easiest road for me would have been to follow all the other artists into the full on scene and been on a big stage pleasing a 50.000 people crowd in Mexico. It's not at all easy to break though in example the House scene or for that matter in the Techno scene. On the contrary it's much harder than breaking though in the psytrance/full on scene!

    My 2 cents.

  10. I agree. But that means he should not try to judge others as well! Does he know for sure that others sold out? That they compromised and he's the only one staying true to his roots and just by coincidence he has changed style to more widely recognised housey stuff because he likes it?

And to be honest I can't really understand how anyone can complain about Cosmosis, Koxbox or Transwave adopting some of the full-on techniques into their music? Do you not see the difference between their music and Israeli full-on fodder? Would you feel better if they stopped releasing music altogether? Would you prefer them to starve to death, because 100 people on psynews (out of which just 10 will pay for the actual music) are wining that they're 'selling out' if they use rolling bassline?

Come on. Stop complaining, just listen to the music you like and ignore the rest.

I have talked to and know many of the mentioned artists. Many have over the years said the reason why they made full on was to maintain a flow in gigs. Ergo this is selling out IMO. Otherwise you would do what you truly love and not where the money's at.

You criticize me for selling out because I shifted scene. But I never did it for the money. I came from the House scene long before I started to make music in the psytrancescene so I have always had a love for House music and Techno. Heck I dont make any money from my music at all. If I wanted money I would have followed all my artist colleagues at the time they shifted to full on or make commercial House or music in general.

I am not into talking about taste as it's very personal. But it is indeed selling out if your only purpose is to gain popularity and/or money instead of doing what you really love. And I know for a fact many of the old-school artists shifting to full on did it because of an economical matter and not for the love of the music.

Stop telling people not to complain or debate what they like to debate about ;)

  11. ...said the guy who's now doing prog/electro house instead of goa/psy... Posted Image

I do not produce Electro House or progressive House (Did some in 2006-2007 but far from the commercial sound). I make Techno and some Tribal, a lot of downbeat and occational underground House which is a 1000 times more "trance" (as in getting into the state of trance from a repetetive beat) than any full on ever will. And the music i make is quite underground. But I don't expect some people to grasp that concept as they will never understand House etc. ;)

  12. And if people would never say a word to any troll, they would lose their power and go home.

Sorta like ignoring the school bully who calls you a pussy every day trying to entice you to fight.

Stop caring and they will stop posting.

I just think some people here are using way too much time on fanatic chasing down every small post that's might og might not from a "troll". Insted of focusing on the debate and it's content. I was even called a troll in this debate (not from you basilisk) even though I never did any trolling and just shared my opinion. That's why I think some people have lost the ability to debate (or rather want to stir up things) and by that have become trolls themselves (not saying you're one of them).

I do agree with you. Ignore those you feel are trolling and life's so much easier ;)

    Anyway its way off topic.

  13. Just to clear up why Basilisk got angry at buddha, it's because Basilisk hates oldschool music and loves new psytrance. He puts a lot of effort into slandering goa trance. Just look at his essentials list for proof, it's mostly "goa trance releases leading towards psytrance" rather than the best releases.

Not true and bull! And as a side note he hosts my "old-school" live set and that's as far as possible from anything to do with new psytrance. I am grateful with Basilisk for it even though we do not always see eye to eye in debates :)

  14. Please, stop with the fake victim BS. Having a different opinion doesn't make you a troll.

It was ironi mate. In reference to two people having a hard time coping with amithaba_buddha's and my opinion (I am not getting into others "fights". bwhale or whoever he/she is can fight his/her own battles).

    bwhale/sunwolf/eiko/elysium strikes again!

Apparently it isn't possible for someone to express their open admiration for all that Suntrip has done without the trolls such as bwhale and wannabes like you (he is talking about amithaba_buddha) taking over

In regard to Basilisk's comment I have to say I find it much harder to be "allowed" to express any criticism about any so-called Goa artists in this forum without being called a troll (from one person) or without some people taking it personal and getting irritated. I don't find that constructive. And forgive me if I find it a bit dobbelstandard what you're saying. I don't see amithaba_buddha or myself telling Suntrip they are wrong or not respecting them or their work. All I see is a debate about if the new so called "Goa" has much to do with Goatrance.

  15. These are not Goatrance:

Elysium - 1997 - Celestial Sounds and Neurotic Tribal Beats

    Elysium - 2002 - Regenerated

I dont consider these release as Goatrance. In fact I never really considered my music to be Goatrance. I never had Goa in mind when I made my music and I never went to Goa. I accepted the goa labeling because that was the scene I played in but I think there's a difference in the style I made and example what people consider to be Goatrance from UK etc.

If I had a saying I would call most of the Elysium releases: Tribal/Ethnic trance.

It’s interesting to see these labeled as Goatrance:

    Shaolin Wooden Man - 1994 - Ohar

Shaolin Wooden Men - 1994 - Shaolin Wooden Men

Shaolin Wooden Men - 1995 - The Hungry Forest

I would call this deep Aussie tribal influenced by the Aboriginals than anything to do with Goa.

The label "Goatrance" is over used in many releases - especially these days where it seem like a trend to release Compilations mentioning Goatrance even though the music got nothing to do with Goatrance.

  16. It's all about the music, if it sounds good it's good no matter how old or new it is.

    I could not agree more!

But the debate here is about "New Goa" artists and if they are trying too hard to sound like the old goatrance artists and by that ending up sounding un-original. In my opinion I haven't really come across any "New Goa" artist I would consider as Goatrance. I dont question their talent but I think they try too hard to re-create something I honestly think they can't re-create. We live in a very different World today 15 years later and music has evolved a lot. So has the Technology and especially the trance scene to an extend that it's a 360 degrees changed scene in all aspects. This is bound to influence the music too and the magic and creativity within the Goatrance (as I experienced it) is long gone and is not present in the "New Goa" music. In my opinion of course.

I do not say the music is no good. Of course it's as good as any other music and IMO it's better than most stereotype Full on. But until now I have a very hard time understanding those who say it's the "new" Goatrance. To me its miles away from what Goatrance was all about. Not only in respect to the sound, production, vision and creativity but also in terms of the whole spirit and atmosphere in the scene. The "New Goa" trance artists mostly play at the big Festivals and commercial parties. In a scene that has absolutely nothing to do with the Goatrance spirit and how the Goatrance scene was. Therefore and because of the sound and genre direction I cannot agree that this is the "new" goatrance.

I know I'm rambling on. Forgive me :)
