  1. I agree with Ormion.

I think the ones you mentioned here have much more in common with each other (well, maybe not Tandu) than any of them have with IM.

I'm not saying IM didn't get inspired but they sure as hell didn't copy nobody.

If you get the chance one day ask Erez where he got his inspiration from ;)

I remember playing with him on a few occasions in Israel just before they got big and he loved these bands. It also showed up in his music he played and made at that time and I am sorry but I can still hear a strong doze of these bands trademarks in the "classic" IM albums.

    :P

No, seriously Sandman that I can understand. A bit.

    Hallucinogen ok. Maybe.

    But the rest....

I don't disagree that they may inspired by these artists, but their music has nothing to do with them.

Well listen to them again ;)

I find it quite funny (in a respectful way) that you diehard IM fans always claim that IM never copied anyone and that their music had nothing to do with anyone but IM. You can become too diehard you know ;)

  2. I can understand if someone doesn't like IM, but...

    IM never copied anyone!

    Why ppl keep saying that?

Tell me one artist, just ONE before IM that his music sounds anything like The Gathering or Classical Mushroom.

The Gathering, Classical Mushroom and even B.P.Empire (which I don't think is a masterpiece) are three revolutionary albums that didn't copy any other artist before them. They're so classic that after so many years nothing similar ever happened.

And here is the reason we bash IM. They were not just another great band, they were pioneers!

True pioneers and now they make the most uninspired music.

    It's

    just

    sad

Ok here you go in no particular order:

    MFG

    Astral Projection

    Hallucinogen

    Sandman

    Tandu

    Green Nuns of the Revolution

Just to name a few of the true pioneers.

If you listen to IM's first albums many of the elements sound very similar to the trademarks of these bands/artists. The sounds IM used had been used countless times, the melodies were nothing new and I can go on.

Now I do not dish IM or tell you your taste is bad. I really could not care less about them or their music. All I am saying is you folks should move on. And I also don’t believe in telling people they have a bad taste as taste is a very personal thing. But facts are facts so let’s stick to them please.

Now I respect your taste and that you love IM's early music but to say IM never copied anyone is a false statement. Every artist copy some other band or artists. That's what’s known as “inspiration” and IM was very inspired by the artists they grew up listening to. Especially the Israeli pioneers.

It would be very interesting to have a Survey done showing how many of the diehard IM fans actually know the artists music showing the way before IM. I am pretty sure most won't be able to even mention one name. And that would also prove my point that IM is special to those diehard fans because they never heard this kind of music before getting introduced to IM. But that does not make IM the pioneers of psychedelic trance or even getting close being pioneers within this style of music. A pioneer is someone who comes up with something new. IM did not invent their music style or the sounds they used! They borrowed a lot from other artists. And that’s a fact no matter what the diehard fans think. If you do not believe me then I suggest you find music from the artists I mentioned or other Israeli and/or UK artists from 1994-1997 and sit down and listen carefully. Then you’ll agree with me.

The true pioneers are some of the ones I listed above.

  3. What about - get over it and move on?

I am amazed how much time and energy you people use on a band you dislike so much.

    My 2 cents about IM.

I for one never thought they were special. I have heard a lot of pioneer Israeli and UK artists prior to their debut sounding very similar to IM’s music. IMO they copied various well-known Israeli and UK bands but had a much better Promotion strategy, and hats off, had/have a very high work ethics in order to become a success. Their music was/is (IMO) not special or genius or even interesting. But again that's me and my opinion and I am sure their popularity had a lot to do with the fact that many newcomers, at the time of IM’s debut and a few years after, did not know anything about pioneer artists showing the way for IM before they got introduced to IM and by that thought they had discovered something "groundbreaking" which is natural seen in the light they never heard this kind of music before. But for many of those of us who knew what came before IM their music was not that special. I also base this on talks with other old timers as myself.

So again I suggest you move on and find other bands out in the big wide world of music. I can assure you there's a lot of amazing music out there.

I doubt IM will start making music you like because you rant about their “selling out” in a underground forum ;)

  4. Great news, both for the new album and for the live sets.

    thanks :)

    You are welcome :)

Side note: 5200+ downloads (Elysium and Wombatmusic live sets) in a matter of a couple of weeks from promotion on various sites and only aprox. 5 people cared to share their comments (via email or posts). A bit disappointing as I thought at least people would hand out some constructive critisism or general feedback (good or bad) when they get music for free in CD quality. All in all I have had 17000+ downloads since I started giving out free music from my site and so far only 22 people cared to let me know what they thought of my music. Anyways, just a small side note. But comments are really appreciated as it's what fuels us the artist’s engines making us continue. With no feedback we might as well just do music for ourselves.

But again a big thanks to those who download :)

  5. Well I did find his review on 10 Years Of Communication funny, and I do agree that we don't need any more killargh-promo review, but IMO a site called psyreviews should be more informative and less sarcastic, just for the sake to be.

Like psyreviews was 4-5 years ago.

And let's face it. A review that mock a poppy full on album isn't that helpful, since I doubt that the people who're gonna buy it read reviews at the first place. ;)

There are plenty of informative reviews on his site and positive too.

I find the "mocking" very informative as he is extremely good at expressing his views inside the "mocking". And I know for a start I would never bother to listen to it. The excuse that nobody would read his review because they would buy it before is not valid. I can assure you that his reviews are well visited. Also newcomers referred by friends. And they are the ones that could need a warning sign ;)

His sarcastic spot on reviews are more than welcome in a scene where almost every review kiss a**.

  6. Beats the boring always "political correct" reviews from people being afraid of not receiving any more promos if they step aside the "we love it oh so much to dead" reviews.

It's refreshing and I agree with most his reviews too.

If only more people would review more critical it would make artists and labels more critical of their own releases (I recon).

Some people in general argue that people should only review music they like. But I disagree. No one would learn a thing from it and we’ve already seen the result of years of one sided sugar sweet reviews. No constructive critisism. Only more and more “killarghhh” reviews to feed the labels and artists interests instead of letting them know maybe they ought to have been more critical before releasing the latest tune.

  7. Goa trance?

I am not sure it will meet the die hard Goa fans expectations as I reserve the right to experiment and not just copy what has been.

But there will for sure be a strong doze of the traditional Elysium sound. I am not sure if it can be called Goa as Goa is such a diverse and misused term in music. But if you like the old Elysium I am sure there will be something for you there too.

  8. Cool, thanks for this :)

Are the tracks any different from the original studio versions?

I don't recall seeing "Wild Dance on Naked Feet" on any of your albums or singles.

    Was it ever officially released?

Any chance you could upload your "Journey" track?

I'd love to hear what it sounds like.

    Thanx a gain :)

    You are welcome :)

All the live versions are brand new remixes. I have tried to stick to the old Elysium trademark but the versions are a bit faster (140 bpm) and more tribal too.

The "Wild Dance On Naked Feet" was released on the album "Celestial Sounds & Tribal Beats".

I do not have a clean version of "Journey" as it have data "skips" on the DAT tape. But frankly I don't think it's that good anyway :)

But if I find a ok version I will upload it.

    Cheers

    Kristian

  9. Since it's apparently ok to promote Ott's free live set then I will also promote my free live sets here :)

Elysium and Wombatmusic live at the Antaris-Project Festival 2009.

The Antaris-Project Festival was amazing! What a great International crowd. The Village was super nice and the Deco was mind-blowing. I am not sure how many visitors the Festival had but some say around 7-8000 people.

Huge thanks to Axel and the crew and Shuttle drivers. I think it's probably the best organized and professional Crew I've ever seen. You got to make a new Festival next year guys

As a HUGE thanks to the wonderful smiling dancing freaks on the floor I have uploaded both live-sets free to download as your heart’s desire.

    Enjoy!

  10. Hehe cool, to bad you dont play the old Sheyba tracks :drama: they sure had that Elysium vibe to them as well, i can imagine you where the one making the melodies in those tracks as well, or was Borelli the melody man? Anyways the Aliens track was way ahead of its time, very hypnotic track!

    Cheers

There are not enough Sheyba tracks to make a live act with it. I think we all in all made 5-6 tracks.

Ancient Lands was made by me. It was originally an Elysium track but we needed a B-side track on the Single with "Into The 4th Dimension" and ended up using Ancient Lands.

  11. Thanks for sharing! If you ever come to Sweden and play live, you got to play "Ancient lands" and "Aliens" :) those are perfect tracks for the Swedish forests.

btw what equipment did you guys use for the Ancient Lands track?

:) I will keep it in Mind. But Ancient Lands is not a Elysium track but a Sheyba Track and we do not play Sheyba live.

As far as I remember we used an Emax sampler, Akai MIdi Sequencer, Juno 106, Roland JD 800, Alesis 16 track Mixer some dodgy delay machine and some bad monitors :)

Hey man, saw & danced to your set last weekend, wicked stuff. Couldn't stop to say hi and to have a beer as promised on pie as I got pulled, so sorry about that.

    Was a top festival :)

    Hey mate,

No worries. After my Elysium set I only had 15 minutes to get to the Artist area to catch my ride to the Airport so there would have been no time. Hopefully some other time another place :)

  13. "Again taste is taste and there’s no such thing as crap. There’s only personal taste"

    lolwut??!?!

I beg to differ. There IS good music, and there definitely is CRAP music.

There's the 'artist' that produces music because he has talent (ex: biosphere).

Then there's the endless sea of posers cranking commercial shit&lols to the masses that wouldnt know an ambient record if it hit em on the head.

No offense intended of course, but saying there is no worse/better in music neglects a lot of factors that go into the making of a real record.

Besides, if there is no better/worse in music, why the hell are we here, or rather what the hell are we here to talk about ? Our personal taste ? Who cares about that.

There's one huge flaw in your black/white view on "crap". What you consider to be crap is considered to be genious by others. See that's the beauty of taste ;) You can beg to differ from now on to Kingdome come. Taste is still taste and no matter how much you tell people their taste is crap they will still love the music they love. There's really nothing more to say or argue about that.

  14. Really cool.

Looking forward to your liveset at Antaris. You are with Filteria my personal mainacts. ;)

How was the Gig at the Kupoles Festival?

And now i see at the picture. there is a screenshot of the internet explorer. not good. using firefox or something else, internet explorer is like cheesy fullon, pure shit... hehe joke.. :D

    :)

My gig at Kupoles was canceled due to a family member being hospitalized.

I can't wait to play at Antaris. Will be a blast! The weather seem to be really nice too :)

I use most browsers as I work with design. I am not a geek thinking one is better than the other. They all suck

  15. Isn’t taste a funny thing :)

There are two sides here. One side is not into Ishq and one side love the music. But honestly both sides are equally judgmental. The ones (or one specific member - no harm intended) that love Ishq seem to think commercial music is crap. But that’s just as judgmental and generalizing as the side claiming Ishq is 95% crap.

Again taste is taste and there’s no such thing as crap. There’s only personal taste :)

  16. Hi Kris .

First of all i want to express my gratitude for putting up your musical work available for free at any cost.

Second i love the Elysium Celestial Sounds & Tribal Beats album , nowadays it's still a great piece of musical work.

Third is that I will download your other available Elysium works in order to continue this amazing quest from you.

And finally , A Deep Thank You.

    /Filipe

    Thanks a lot Filipe :)

There will probably be a brand new Elysium album out early 2010. More info will come later.

  17. For those who are interested there are new samples (unmixed early versions) on my Wombatmusic Myspace player. All tracks will be included on the forthcoming free Electronica/Downtempo Album Wombatmusic "Along The Way" scheduled to be released end of Summer 2009.

There will also be a live recording made available for free download of my Wombatmusic gig at the Antaris-Project Festival in July.
