@vancbc Well, if you dont have anything better to do that night then go and hear him spin. If you like parties with - good mixing - variation in track selection + - other genres than dark psychechelic full on Then do not go. If those things are not all important to you, then go. Also, he will probably be the only DJ spinning, since AFAIK he demands that he be the only person on the lineup for the event. As far as Dark Psy goes, I think he spins lots of interesting tracks - Too bad he doesnt really mix it up that well - I think dark psy really shines when its mixed well. I myself put a lot of emphasis on good mixing, variation and more genres - Still, I would rather hear a couple of hours of old Papa Goa´s (goa gil) set, than I would stand a night of GMS + DJ Bansi+Riktam sonic cheesy spun full on torture. Best Wishes Krell
  2. @Basilisk You dont need tracks with varying BPMs for you to change the tempo of your set. Just do a fade mix instead of a beatmix, and you can change tempo whenever you want, and exactly where&when its needed. This way, you dont get locked into playing certain tracks after each other, you can change tempo when its needed, and spin the right tracks at the right time. I think, this is FAR more important than whatever argument can be stated against doing a fade mix. Also, this goes against harmonic mixing in general, as you might have figured out, being locked into always using harmonic mixing will also hamper the free creation of flow, since you limit your track selection to whatever is in the right key.. Harmonic Mixing as such is a bonus when it works out, but I dont think you should base all your mixes on it... I only use harmonics myself to avoid dissonanse, since thats a real problem when it occurs. Well, thats of course just my so very very humble but extremely self confident better knowing opinion there hehehe :-) So, to answer your question - Any track with a really good intro and a catchy beat can do the trick - You will probably notice the energy dissappear completely from the dancefloor, the crowd will stop and listen with anticipation as the outro glides into a beautiful intro - and once the new beat comes in, it will be mayhem on the dancefloor. Enjoy :-) Krell
  3. Its also not just the drug samples, I just dont like their music - Just one track or two. So, I just think its stupid they put so much emphasis on it (drugs), its cheap and negative. However, I mostly listen for the beats and the sound in music, not the meaning of samples. 1200 mics sounds very, ehh, mainstream, or like something for a disco or rock concert, its very much the breaks and buildups - all those sounds that want to make you put your hands in the air and such. Hard to describe :-) Skazi like. Its like when Bansi and Riktam DJ, I hate that as well. At least what they spun here in Denmark a couple of months ago, I wanted to invent a new subgenre for their style, I came up with these "karaoke full on" and "ibiza full on". You are also right, its up to everybody to create their own balance - time will tell who falls and who dont. Some will fall for other reasons than drugs, thats for sure.
  4. Perhaps you need some gabber then ? Go look for "Dark Psy" or "Dark Psychedelic Trance" Checkout www.darkpsy.com Look for these names Kindzadza Digital Talk Ozom Meteloids Grapes of Wrath Thats pretty hard stuff :-)
  5. Indeed, we dont know how it affects us - Im sure it does though. Also, it might affect us more when we are 15 than when we are 25 - So its hard, but if it already affected is when we were 15, then that effect will carry on later in our life, since events lead to new events, the same way decisions lead to new decisions. I do drugs also, I think, I was affected by samples in late Goa Trance I listened to when I was young. Its not really the worst thing that could have happened, I mean, I would rather be affected by that, than by the messages carried by many mainstream music genres. Im not saying we are all brainwashed or anything, we just have a relationsship to drugs thats inspired by the music we listen to... Like many other things, its about balancing it out right - 1200 mics I dont think do that very good :-/ Everything is about drugs with them. Its just plain stupid.
  6. You can speak for your ego, but not your subconscious - Its a fact that you dont know whether you are being affected by what you listen to while you are in a trance. So, you might very well be affected by samples about drugs. Thats just the way it is. I can give you some links to back this theory up, if you want me to. However, if you dont do drugs, then thats no problem is it ? :-)
  7. Well, you are gonna be a copy cat - but go read this topic, there are loads of tracks for you... http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=24593 Best of luck with your party.
  8. Why dont you start listening and make up your own mind ? Best tracks for us, might not be the best track for you.
  9. He is probably the most hyped up psychedelic trance / psychill artist who has ever existed. The closest we will come to a Psy Trance/Chill Elvis is Simon Posford. I guess, this makes him a god to some. To me, he is a brilliant musician, who first on his own, and later together with others, have been able to have a positive influense on the music styles associated to psy/goa trance. He both deserves respect for his music, but also very much for his work with twisted records. God to some, talented musician to others :-) I prefer not to be so extreme in my description of artists, better keep them down, so they will want to aspire to be more:-) *smiles* Krell
  10. I can recommend my own DJ Krell - Furyan Sunrise - 10-01-05 If you can find it that is :-) Best wishes, and the best of luck to you :-) Krell
  11. Henrik Munch could be a normal danish name, dont know about the guy though. Jeffrey is an english name, but the last name is danish "jensen" - Which means "Son of Jens" :-) There! :-) Anyway, some of those guys lived here in Aarhus(denmark) I believe around the time of the release. Serge also did a few Djing gigs here around those years... And Michel I believed also lived here... Can you also hear the ties to the parvati sound in that release ? :-) I think, the Orichalcum & The Deviant album is one of the better old releases - and its psychedelic music :-)

  13. Actually, colorbox isnt all gone - I dont know if they are making music, but they are doing a live appearance in Copenhagen, Denmark. Checkout this link for more info http://www.electrobeat.dk/popup.show_party.php?party_id=35 And I also remember Psygone, I liked it a lot in 1997 from the demo I received from them - Sadly I never got around to book them for the parties I did back then. It was pure israeli trance, melodies, deep bass and lots of energi. By 1998/99 I was myself fed up with that genre though. Kind regards Krell :: www.electrobeat.dk
