  1. Is it true? When I was at Fullmoon Festival '05 in Germany I've bought some CD's at Spirit Zone's shop. The price of one CD was 6 Euro, while 4 CD's were avaiable for the price of 20 Euro. I was more than happy to see such a discount (I've bought myself f.e. some old Space Tribe albums, "Noosphere - Aqua", "Shiva Chandra - Subsonic", "Element - Full Moon" etc.), when the guy who sold the CD's told me that "the label is closing down". At first I didn't believe that and forgot all about it, enjoying my shoping spree. After I came back home from the festival I started to think whether the guy was right all along... After all many artists who were the primary rooster of Spirit Zone are long gone from their mother-label. Space Tribe has his own label called Space Tribe Music, the new Electric Universe album is said to be released somewhere else than S.Z. and another S.Z. old-timer (Shiva Chandra) is releasing his album called "Change Of Air" on Sinn Tec Records. What is more, I've heard a rumour that Antaro is not interested in the label anymore. Last but not least, I've checked the label's website www.spiritzone.de and it's not working. Can someone confirm or deny my "what if's"? Blue Room Released, Flying Rhino, Matsuri Productions, Transient Records... All of them being great and legendary labels... Are we seeing another one biting the dust?
  2. -> www.spin.net.au/nightlife/melbourne/events/41538.html omg... What an awesome line up! I would kill to be there...
  3. Is there any new Hallucinogen material in the works? Will we get to sample some of it? I have been collaborating a lot recently, so these things tend to get released under other names... i haven't been in the studio on my own much... but once i buy a new computer i look forward to some 'hallucinogen' time. www.shpongle.com/hallucinogen/interviews-tripoutnewyork.htm The last Hallucinogen tune [not counting remixes], 'E', was released on TIP.World's Twelve compilation three years ago and fans have since eagerly awaited new material. The new Twisted compilation, Unusual Suspects 2 features two new tracks under the Hallucinogen guise. Is this a sign that there are more to come? yes... i have been doing a lot of 'Hallucinogen-style' tracks, but as collaborations with other names.... like some stuff with benji, tristan, joti, and merv.... my studio at the moment is scattered over my house, while i rebuild it for 2005 it was getting too uncomfortable to work in... so i got a new chair and computer desk.... that might encourage me to spend more time in it! i want to cut down on the gigs this year, and spend some time in the studio working on some trance stuff... btw, `E` was never really supposed to be a hallucinogen track.... it was something i wrote for raja ram, sitting watching the rain drip down the window, after raja ram had explained the meaning of the word `saudade` in portuguese. www.shpongle.com/hallucinogen/interviews-hallucinogen_site2005.htm
  4. I won't give a long review but let me tell you that this is, without any doubt, one of the best psytrance albums I own. Benji has the skills! Cannot wait for a new album, which, to the best of my knowledge, is in production. off-topic: ps. Antic: do You ever read Your e-mails? Please reply. (I just hope that Your @ on onet.pl - that's where I've sent my @'s to You - still works)
  5. Quite recently William Bill Halsey has treated us with his "Trancendance" album. Now he is back on Holophonic Records with another Cosmosis-candy to tickle those psychedelic taste buds... Cosmosis - Akashic Holophonic Records, 2005 1. Key To The Innerverse 2. Gift Of The Gods 3. Moonshine 4. Intergalactic Fluoro Funkster 5. Just Say No 6. Find Your Own Divinity 7. The First Step 8. Dissociation 9. Down At The Crossroads Info taken from Psyshop: Due to repeated requests for the re-issue of the classic Cosmosis albums, Cosmosology and Synergy, Holophonic Records is proud to present Cosmosis 'Akashic'. Akashic contains those Cosmosis classics that have been an integral part of the soundtrack to Psy-trance's global alternative culture. From it's humble beginings the beaches of Goa in the early nineties, to it's present state; a scene that boasts international outdoor trance festivals on most continents around the world. Psyshop: www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/hol/hol1cd605.html Saikosounds: www.saikosounds.com/english/display_release.asp?id=4973 (Expected: July 18, 2005) A nice idea, as the old albums of Bilbo are mostly out of stock, but than again it's too bad we get the material presented before instead of (2 nice options come to my mind): 1. A compilation of his V.A./EP tracks, like "Howling At The Moon" (95% of today's psytrtance music can suck this track's balls), "Grindwinder" (now that was dark psychedelic trance !), "Deus" (very uplifting), "Do It!", "Visitors" (a humorous and funky masterpiece made with Shakta), "Pigs In Space" (massive tune), "Doors Of Perception (<bow_down_mode_on>)... the list goes on... 2. An album with new (chillout!) tunes. I mean, come on, this guy has made brilliant chillout track. Do You remember "Roswell", "Skankadelic" or the recent "Tim's Trip"? Nothing but fabulous stuff! Anyhow, this will be a nice collector's item and a fine addition to the menu for those who haven't been with Halsey's music in the previous years (and I bet that there are plenty of such people). To the "newbies": check out what the truely psychedelic trance music is all about. PS. This one will probably with a cover by the one and only Frederick NOS. Psyshop has a temporary substitute - the cover of the "Synergy" album.
  6. Yup. You're damn right! Hypersonic is back! www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/pho/pho1cd339.html The cover is certainly something to look forward to by the gay community... I wonder how many errors in track names will there be this time.

  8. V.A - Digital Performers Exposure Productions, 2005 Tracklist: 01. Altom – All Of That 02. Orion – Speaker Speaker 03. Wizzy Noise – Opus Drive 04. Logic Bomb - Deuchland 05. Dino Psaras versus Deedrah - Hellraiser 06. Astrix - Oranda 07. Silicon Sound feat. Jaia - Passengers 08. Alien Project – Alien Technology 09. Space Cat – H2O 10. Synthetic – Mind Splinter “Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess and a handsome prince.” Wait, wrong review... I was one of the lucky bastards that won the competition by Detox and at the same time I was the unlucky one who didn't receive the prize (a free copy of "Digital Performers"). Why? Dunno, certainly it wasn't Detox's fault, but I felt obliged to get familiar with the material and write a venomous :-) review, so I bought my copy. Was it worth it? It sure was. We have some big names on this one as it was the case with the previous compilation from Exposure Productions. "All Systems Go" turned out to be one of my favourite compilations from 2004, so the expectations were quite high. Altom? F**k yeah! Silicon Sound? Yummy! Logic Bomb? Splendid! Synthetic? Bring it on! Bla, bla, bla.. Ok, enough of this crap, let's eat! :-) 01. Altom - All Of That Boy oh boy. Another Altom tune. The two guys are a magnificent proof that french tunes can be inventive, groovy and unique. Altom's debiut album "Hologram" released back in 2002 on Neurobiotics was one of my favourite CD's of that year and I still think of it as of a top notch work, even though there are people who consider it to be very repetitive recycled music (usage of the same sounds over and over again) and boring. Their second disc was also a must have. "All Of That" manages to capture the spirit of "Groove Control" album and makes a fine drifting & uplifting tune (especially for opening this compilation), although I noticed some slight lack of ideas. 02. Orion - Speaker Speaker Ah, yes, Jean Borelli, bow down. The track contains trademark Borelli-sounds, which make a true psychedelic trance celebration that moves our bodies. Do they? Well, yes and no. Sure, it's a fine track and the artist puts the right amount of emotion to convey Orion's character, but still there is something missing. Regardless of that, it's a good work. 03. Wizzy Noise - Opus Drive I find it almost impossible to describe "Opus Drive", so I'll make it quick - probably the best track on the whole compilation! The guys from Wizzy show once more who is in charge. Fat sounding track, it's been quite some journey! Templar's word. 04. Logic Bomb - Deuchland "Deuchland" - quite nice wordplay. I have to admin that Logic Bomb is one of my favourite acts in the world of psychedelia. Once in a while they decide to create something new and challenging in terms of psytrance music (all of you who like gooood music will remember the track called "Neighbour Of The Beast"). On hearing the track one immediately hears those trademark sounds. Nicey nice, I really liked it. After all, it's Logic Bomb! 05. Dino Psaras versus Deedrah - Hellraiser I was wondering how a track made by the two mates would sound. Expectations were really high, after all these fellows are not green-horns in the scene. Pumping, fast, wicked... you know the rest. :-) A good collaboration track, which will surely transport many people straight to the dancefloors. 06. Astrix - Oranda Been there, done that - a reasonable things to say when one encounters Astrix. As I expected it to be, this is another schematic track by the artist (ehem...) from Israel. "Oranda" is another formulaic one from Avi Shmailov, filled up with some childish sounds. If you heard some other track by him you'll know exactly what this one is like - expect no surprises here. For a newbie this may seem a hell of a track, a fine way to drop an E and wet pants during a predictable climax, but for me this is... the stuff You avoid on pavements. Highly recommenable for die-hard fans of Astrix. And only for them... 07. Silicon Sound feat. Jaia - Passengers All passengers, prepate for take off! This one is smooth and elegant like Monica Bellucci - well it is not a big surprise considering the fact that we have Silicon Sound and Jaia on the job. In a moment the listener enters a rare moment of sublime peace that one needs to add into his / hers life. World class indeed. Simultaneously, one can observe that enormous advances have been made in Reigner's music. I remember the time when I first heard his track called "Strange Planet" (3D Vision) and I was like: "Wow...". Now I repeat myself - "Wow!". Another highlight on this V.A. 08. Alien Project - Alien Technology It is original, brave, and the sounds are truly transporting, making this a release that truly deserves the "psychedelic" tag... Now wait a minute! What the f**k am I writing about? It's Alien Project. Ok, one more time... Chocolate comes in many different variations, including milk chocolate , dark chocolate , and white chocolate. Recent Alien Project's musical achievements also come in different packings: cheese or crap. While some artists have taken a definite step forward in the recent years, Ari is one of those who represent the opposite movement. Really, this track is terrible... Cheque please! 09. Space Cat - H2O The mastering of the music contained on this disc was done by Avi "Space Cat" Algranati, who seems to master many CD's lately. We also get a tune by this fellow here... Unfortunately Space Cat joined the gang of those artists, where I have many preconceived ideas of how their tracks will be like even without listening to them. And I wasn't wrong. This is utterly boring. I was impressed by Space Cat's first album (anyone remembers "Beam Me Up"?), which I consider to be one of the best things that came from Israel, but this? Yaaawn... Nothing interesting here really, this is quite like the material on Space Cat's "Mechanical Dream" album (2004). Once again: Been there, done that. 10. Synthetic - Mind Splinter Here we have another tune by one of my favourite pioneers in experimenting with sound and music. The legendary Transwave, Deedrah... You name them. Anyhow, "Mind Splinter" is perhaps one of the most individual tracks on this compilation and is full of everything that makes this music great. Although it does not reach the level of the musical material presented on "100% Pure" album made by Dado as Synthetic, the track has an original spirit and atmosphere. It is both intelligent and original. Bravo mr Dado! I must admit that many tracks on this CD are great, but still if I were to pick my favourites I would highlight Silicon Sound and Wizzy Noise. The quality of the sound is top notch. The musical landscapes are very convincing. Some other artists also did a great job, but do not shine as bright as Wizzy Noise or Silicon Sound, who, in my opinion, steal the show. It's nice to see that some of my favourite musicians reached new levels. Detox managed to grab some fine tunes by some fine artists and thank him for that, but please D-man, stay out of Alien Project and Astrix types, flush them down, whatever, I just don't want to see them on another compilation. There was a period in the history of our blue planet when the dinosaurs have vanished. I wish for an ice age approaching fast for this kind of sound. Enough of this fluoro-rave! Really, the way I see it there are plenty of talents out there to choose from, ones that don't smell of stale cheddar and boring ideas. I also lack some creativity here and there, I miss some experimenting with sounds and, most of all, some nice downtempo. Maybe next time? Anyway, I'm satisfied with this compilation and I avait another position from the E.P. stable. Prometheus and X-Dream track on another V.A. are promising... They are always the ones to bet on and I know that Detox will make a good use of them. T.
  9. Below you can read a fresh interview with Jannis, cooked up few days ago by two Psytrance.pl members, that is JetMan and me. Forget about stereotyped formatted boring Psytrance, forget about the repetitiveness, Filteria has the truly melodic blasting sound we"ve been waiting for years ! Jannis "Filteria" is a young producer from Stockholm, Sweden. His first contact with psychedelic music was in 1996 after buying some Goatrance compilation. He got amazed by the energy of the music and slowly started buying equipment to make something of his own. After 5 years of tweaking and playing around with midi, he bought himself a new computer and started this psychedelic project in 2003. As an artist he tries to keep the true spirit of psychedelic trance by having lots of melodies and sound-layers. All his tracks have at least 3 melodic climaxes. He has been strongly influenced by the sound of 96-97 especially by the Italian maestros Etnica-Pleiadians but he found his "Filteria style" and keeps it up to date. His first live performance was in late 2003. Since, he's been sending dance floors to space several times both in Sweden and Europe. Recently, Filteria has released his first album "Sky Input", and has also tracks scheduled for release on compilations, including the forthcoming "Fluorotronik" compilation on Tranceform Records. taken from www.suntriprecords.com 1. JetMan: A classical question - how did you start with trance? Filteria - I listened to Distance To Goa 4 (my first goa record) back in 96. I was so amazed by the music, that i had to do something myself. I started buying synths, but without actually having any knowledge, how to work with them I kept on learning how to create sounds and play the keys, reading in synth books. In 2003 i started seriously with my psychedelic project after solving all my midi problems. Took a while... hehe 2. Templar: Your music is a kind of a flashbacks from the "good ol' times" and represents something that seems to have died out in the mid 90's. How is it like to be one of the old-school guardians, with the likes of Ethereal and Ypsilon 5 (both projects from Tranceform Records)? Filteria - Hmm, nothing special really. Some people really appreciate what you are doing for the scene and some say: man, that's old. If you wanna be big, make full on. But I prefer to stay like this and do the music I like... Something I have noticed the other day is that the old-school artists get flamed much easier than the rest of the scene. I read somewhere that all my tracks are the same. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I mean some bands release 4 albums with the same bassline, same BPM (145), the same note and everything, and people complain that I use one particullar sound in all my tracks (which is the Filteria sound).. It leaves me wondering... 3. JetMan: So, when will the next album from Filteria come out? If so will it be in the same easy to recognize style that "Sky Input" has? More of the same, or maybe something different? Filteria - The next album will probably arrive in the end of 2005 if everything goes as planned. About the style, it will be more or less the same style. I would like to make something similiar. On the other hand, people will start complaining that it sounds the same like the first album. If I DO change the style, then the people who really appreciated Sky Input will say: he lost it. Failure no matter what. No seriously, but it will be under this melodic, mad style. And this time there will be a ambient track in the end!! 4. JetMan: How long does it take You to make a track and what is the most important thing for You when building a track? Tell us about the process of creating Your music. Filteria - It really depends. Sometimes it takes a month, sometimes it takes a day. The most important thing for me are the melodies and the mood. The process: make an intro to create some sort of atmosphere. Play around to find some melodies and just kick it with the layers 5. Templar: Any particular fave' of Yours on the album? Filteria - It changes all the time. I like all the tracks on the album. 6. JetMan: Where do you get Your inspiration from? Filteria - Pretty much everything in life... Nature, when I am out dancing, friends. 7. Templar: In the download section on Filteria's website one can see a lot of Filteria tracks' clips. Are they ever going to be released? There is also a full-length remix of "Screaming Butterfly" by Etnica (from the album "Alien Protein", Blue Room Released 1996)? Filteria - There are 2-3 tracks from there that i would really like to release. Perhaps on the upcoming Suntrip compilation. It's like that with all the people that produce music. You have lots of unreleased stuff (most of the time, it stays unreleased because it don't have the same standard as the rest) So, some might get released, but most of it will just be in my hard-disc. The remix of Screaming Butterfly will never be released. And to be honest, its not much of a remix anyway. 8. Templar: On Your website You say that you were influenced by Pleiadians. Many people, including me, compare "Sky Input" with their first album "Identified Flying Objects". How does it feel? Filteria - It feels amazing.. For me, I.F.O. is the best CD ever, and only that Sky Input is compared with it, is more then enough.. 9. Templar: "He is invited at the Etnicanet Studios in January" - wrote one of the Etnicanet label managers. Tell us - in details of course - how was it like? Filteria - It was nice. I never visited Ibiza before. We were hanging in the studio pretty much everyday. Me and Pan made 1 and half track together. Cool atmosphere in the studio. Max & Mauri was in italy during the those days I was there.. Its really a trance-community down there. 10. Templar: Your album is also the first release of Suntrip Records, a label established by Mars and Anoebis from Psynews.org. How is it like to work with them? Filteria - Since we are all friends since before this label was created and before I started with music seriously, its a really relaxed atmosphere. We all trust eachother and really try to help eachother as much as possible. 11. Templar: Any upcomming co-operations with other artists? Side projects? A downtempo project? Filteria - Upcomming co-operations, hm perhaps Ibiza again? I started something downtempo but only finished 2 tracks. We will see about that in the future. I am making some Hip-hop beats (let the flaming begin), and i actually enjoy it. I am also making some commercial Tiesto trance with a girlfriend of mine singing, which I also enjoy *hiding from the eggs and tomatoes people are throwing* But no worries, Filteria will allways be under this style (no corny eminem or britney remixes )) and Filteria is my main intrest in music. However it is nice sometimes to take a break from the madness and the layers, and thats when i make the other stuff.. 12. JetMan: What is Your favourite place on this planet? Filteria - So far Belgium. The crowd is MAAAAAD 13. JetMan: On the cover of Your album You greet Your friend from Poland. Have You been ever to Poland? Filteria - Not yet. But I will, during this summer! 14. JetMan: What is Your vision of the future of trance scene & music? Filteria - More subgenres, more commercial, more stupid remixes. I have no idea really 15. JetMan: Do you also listen to any other kind of music? Filteria - Oh yes. I listen to ALL kind of music. From Rock, to pop, house, regular trance, eurodisco, hip-hop... And I love pretty much everything that come from the 80's. I grew up with stuff like: Duran Duran, Modern Talking, Boney M etc etc, all that Disco stuff. For me, that was the beggining of goa-trance. The kicks, the FX. Its just that we used them in a more extreme way... When it comes to music, I go by one principle: There are no bad genres, there is only bad music. 16. Templar: I have read some info about parties with Filteria in the line-up. Tell us something about Your live-acts. Do You play also as a DJ? If so, what kind of stuff do You play? Filteria - I bring my Laptop, my soundcard with me and a memory card from the nordlead 2 (so i can have my sounds from home. I am very bad at sysex, so this is an easy way to take your sounds with you). Since I am alone at the stage, I really can't do that much… I add melodies on top, all sorts of weird sounds and such... About DJ, I don't DJ. I went straight to producing.. Maybe I should start some. To learn the basis. DJ Ukiro (a friend that design the artwork) will help me that.. The music would be old-school. Transwave, Etnica, Green Nuns and such. 17. JetMan: What do you think about the evolution of psytrance music? What is Your opinion on all the "clones" invading our scene? Filteria - I think it really sucks. Pretty much all of it. The spirit is lost, loooong time ago. People want to be in the scene for being cool instead for the music, and all that bullshit. And the goa-trance we used to know back in 96-97 will never come back.. About the clones, I don't know what to say.. I can't stand that full on bassline anymore. Those clones don't make me feel strange, happy, mystic.. They do nothing to me. Its not music for the mind, like psytrance used to be in 95-99. Thats my main issue with the scene today, that i don't feel anything with the music. No emotions comes up... 18. JetMan: How is the psychedelic scene in Sweden like? Parties, people, projects. Filteria - The scene in sweden is wonderfull in the summers, when you have outdoor parties. In the winter it sucks. Not many parties, problems with authorities etc. The people is... Well, there are some old ones from back in the days that really care about the music, but mostly our scene consist of people that just turned 18 or are even younger. That wear all the latest space-tribe outfit, never bought a CD, just download some mp3's. In parties they are just standing still and looking at how the people are dancing. Try to be on every picture so they can brag that they were at this cool underground rave-party.. Thats pretty sad.. About the projects: we have many many talanted musicians here in sweden. And we cover pretty much the whole psychedelic spectra (except perhaps clone-full on ) The first 2 that pop in mind are: Son Kite and Hux Flux.. 19. Templar: A typical Filteria day... Filteria - Get up at 12 or something. Chill, eat, chill, make some music, eat, watch a movie, continue with the music, chill, find some new melodies... sleep ) Nowdays i work.. So its abit different... So less chilling and more working. 20. Templar: The sample in the track named "The Snuggling Snail" (taken from "Celebrity Deathmatch") - You like fighting clay-people, or is it just a soft spot for sweets? Filteria - AHAHA ))) Both I guess... But I don't want no snail on my chocholate. 21. Templar: Monica Bellucci or Jessica Alba? Filteria - Monica Bellucci… grrrrrrrrrrrrr... Can you hook me up with her? 22. Thanks a lot for the interview. Give us more tons of layers, melodies and good luck with Your future releases. Best wishes from Psytrance.pl crew. Filteria Thank you to. More layers will be coming. Nothing but joy and good health to all of you Jannis Filtera. PLUR, trust in trance greetz, >-- www.psytrance.pl
  10. I've had some problems with my DVD-player. Better late than never... "On Air Remixes" single, "Colours" album, "Colours Remixes" single and the biggest part of the "Colours" concept relese - a DVD. High anticipations indeed... Well, what can I say, I'm satisfied. If I were to go into details about this release, I would have to stop at the beginning and bow down to Deathposture, who described Son Kite's DVD in such a way, that I have almost nothing else to add. Always a pleasure to read You DP. Anyhow I must say that, to a certain point, it is a unique release (I reserve the word "brilliant" for the first album of Hallucinogen), because I don't think there has ever been such a thing comming from a musical project in the entire history of trance scene, besides the DVD's released by the likes of Vision Quest for instance. Will other projects have the courage to release such a thing? Time will tell... Than again I doubt it, as it takes a lot of effort and courage to release such a thing. It's intelligent, it's fresh, it's good stuff and good production. By all means it isn't "killllaaah", as I reserve this word for dull releases and for retards who lack the knowledge of everyday life expressions and a dictionary. As far as I am concerned it is good to see, hear and experience (!!!) such goodies as live performances at your own home, really, makes one a part of it all. A must both for Son Kite fans and for those who seek something original.
  11. Talamasca and Friends - Made In Trance Mind Control, 2004 www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/mcc/mcc1cd001.html www.mindcontrolrecords.com - with samples 1. The Awakening (feat. Nomad) 2. Unknown (feat. Life Extension) 3. Hypnotic Control 4. Action !!! (feat. Schyzotrop) 5. Kung-Fu Lesson (feat. DJ Ananda) 6. A Frenchman In Cape Town 7. Lestat Sound Development 8. Time Hunter 9. The Messenger (feat. DJ Neshama and DJ Gui) France has done it again! There we have it - Talamasca comes back with his (umm... one, two, three...) fourth full-lenght album. "Made In Trance" is also the very first CD from the newborn label of Talamasca and Nomad. I've bought it from trance-shop.com on Fullmoon Festival, where I had a real shopping spree as far as CD's are concerned. I must admin that I've bought Talamasca's alb' without knowing what I will find on the disc... Well, I had a pre-listen when Mind Control's site was opened, but till that magical moment of buying came into life I completely forgot about the samples. Anyhow, I gave it a try, cause Lestat's music is one of the best in the scene, though I was veery very very disappointed with his "Zodiac" album, which had a potential but didn't come up to my expectations. Nevertheless everyone can have a slip-up and what is more, this is Talamasca. What can I say more... Some details about the album... The mastering of this CD was done by Avi "Space Cat" Algranati, who seems to master many CD's lately (I write it 'cause lately I've seen Avi in CD credits on some other CD's my friends bought). Here a question to Mnid Controllers: on the inside of the cover I can see "mystering" and not "mastering" - is this a some sort of misprint or is it a deliberate mixture of two words (mystery and mastering)?Maybe it's something like with "Made In Trance", which also conveys the meaning of "Made In France". The cover was done by someone called SUB88, there is also an address given (www.sub88.com) but I haven't seen the site yet. Frankly on one hand i'm pleased with this cover and on the other hand I'm disappointed with it. The 'liking' of it has to do with the fact that I like some things to be plain and simple and such is the cover of this CD - straight to the point, and, moreover, quite catchy (the logo of Mind Control). Still I think that Talamasca's music deserves something better, I woul exchange the picture on the front cover with the picture which is inside the cover. But as they say, lets not judge the book by it's cover. The album itself is dedicated to Talamasca's wife Alexandra and his son Ariel. I wish somebody dedicated such a good album to me... The music... Damn, this will be the hard part... Up till now I gave at least five listens to this CD and frankly every time I hear it the music grows on me more and more. As You have already noticed the album is called "Talamasca and Friends". Here mr Cedric worked with such names as DJ Mael (better known as Nomad), DJ Olive and DJ Stenman (both from Life Extension), Jeremie Kominek a.k.a. Schyzotrop (who has also done brilliant guitars on track 4 in which he participated), DJ Ananda a.k.a. Audio Brain and, last but not least, DJ Neshama and DJ Guy. Dunno why but I was afraid that this mixture wouldn't be very good for the album itself (too many cooks spoil the broth). moreover when I saw Nomad featuring on the first track I had a flashback of his second album, which, for me, was a total disaster. After one listening of "Talamasca and Friend" all of my previous prrejudices were gone. This is Lestat at his best. I won't go into details about the particular / individual track, because I leave it to the professionals (Deathposture, PKS, Profane, Traveller, Shahar and few othe guys which are just a pleasure to read). The only track I'm not happy about is "Time Hunter" which is a mixture of two great tracks by Talamasca, meaning "Time Simulation" and "The Hunter Becomes The Hunted". Sure, it's good, but it isn't as good as I thought it would be judging by its namesakes. As far as other minuses of this album are concerned there are sometimes some annoying cheesy melodic samples which can ruin a pretty good moment in a track (cannot give the exact moments, becuase right now I'm focused on the guitars by Schyzotrop). Fortunately they don't last long. Mr Dassulle also seems to have served here something, that cannot be presented in the light of today's full-on sound. The music on this album is much more melodic - that's right! one has to admit many full-on tracks / projects only pretend to be melodic. Well, this album doesn't. It is a one way ticket back to the dreamland (I advise You to listen to it while driving a car... damn... ;-)). What else? Ummmm... maybe someone else? Sorry for this 'not-so-perfect-quite-crappy-review' but my face is burned by the Fullmoon Fest' sun, it burns like hell and it is a hard thing for me to focus on writing. Still, my ears remained untouched and right now they share with the rest of my body some blissful moments while hearing the first track done with Nomad. No grade here, this is a subjective thingy. Buy it - grade it by yourself. ps. Lestat - You became one of the best acts of FM for Polish people. (to those who weren't on FM - Talamasca was a replacement for the missing Eskimo). The way You played made us smile for a longlonglong time and forget about the crap (to those that think it is offensive: the stuff You avoid on pavements) served by Alien Project in the first day of this festival. Thank You!
  12. Altom - Groove Control Neurobiotic, 2004 1. Appetizer 2:11 / 120 bpm 2. Not For Children 8:27 / 145 bpm 3. Spray 9:16 / 145 bpm 4. Groove Control 8:01 / 138 > 145 bpm 5. Beat Breakers 6:40 / 120 bpm www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/neu/neu1cd011.html There were times when I though that France is good only at surrendering to the enemy and making goooood wine. These times and thoughts are far far away from me as I discover step by step the world of trance / chillout music made by French artists. One has to admit that France has got loads of talented people in this field, take for instance a label like 3D Vision (though it has recently moved with Absolum to Ibiza right?). It is not a surprise that an Italian based label Neurobiotic wanted to give the Altom guys a shelter... Altom's debiut album called "Hologram" released back in 2002 (also on Neurobiotic) was one of my favourite CD's of that year and I still think of it as of a top notch work, even though there are people who consider it to be very repetitive recycled music (usage of the same sounds over and over again) and boring. There is some grain of truth in it, I dno't deny it, nevertheless Altom has done it for me back then... and now the duo of Alexis Cornet and Thomas Dubreuil managed to impress me once more. If You're looking for something that is in the vein of the "Hologram" album I have to say that this is something new. I was very disappointed when I downloaded the samples of "Groove Control" from Neurobiotics. Where has the spirit and the vibe of "Hologram" gone? - I asked myself then. Sniff... This is just another full-on release... Fortunately it all changed after Altom's show on Fullmoon Festival when I instantly bought this CD and dropped it in a car player on my way home. Never trust the samples ! ... The material contained on "Groove Control" is Altom's regenerated and faster sound. Which is not a bad thing of course. The French guys managed to capture the spirit of Altom's previous album, adding a new approach to their unique music and a nice tempo to it. As You can see above most of the tracks oscilate around 145 bpm, making it a good dancefloor stomper. In my review of Talamasca's "Made In Trance" I've mentioned my sun-burned face. Guess what? It was the show of the Altom guys that made me forget all about the negative aspect of the Sun. But it was worth it, I've danced and travelled with Altom's music on FMF 2004 like hypnotised... Thank U guys! The album starts with a nice intro (great name of this track btw.) with a crowd sample shouting, which teleports us to a field on some open-air party (in my case it's back to Fullmoon Festival again... mmmm ), after a while it morphs beautifully into the second track - and this is where the Altom's groovy dancefloor magic starts... We get a rise of serotonine here and there, a pinch of groove and something to regulate our dance code. Throughout the whole CD we ae able to take a deep breath of their previour album with a remix to "Hologram". An instant "banana" on one's face I say. The whole CD ends with a nice downtempo-ish track, which is miles ahead from the "Plasma" track from "Hologram" CD as far as the vibes of this musical beauty is concerned. A true masterpiece and a good finish to a nice journey. This CD contains some of the finest French sound around. Though at times it may seem repetitive, if you are into Altom / French psy' / good music (!) then buy it. Definately a MUST HAVE.
  13. Alien Vs The Cat - Space Jam TIP World, 2004 http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/tip/tip1cd036.html 1. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - Space 2. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - Om Nama Shiva 3. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - A.C. Lator 4. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - Metalaizer 5. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - Aztechno Dream 6. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - Good Vibes 7. Alien Project Vs Space Cat - 007 8. Alien Project Vs Space Cat -Trancemega A note from psyshop.com / TIP World's site: Following hot on the heels of the outstanding album by Alien Project "Groovy", Ari the Alien has teamed up with Avi the Space Cat to catapult us into another stratosphere. The collaboration fell together and gelled instantly. A project that came together very quickly, after all night studio sessions and in between numerous gigs around the world. It came out of nowhere, within a lunar cycle and it's a real treat for all. The quality and the vibe are so high that the benchmark has yet again been raised. Groovy was outstanding... have we cleared it, we think so press play and let us know. Enjoy. ... yeah, right. I'd laugh if it wasn't so pathetic. And now for the review: Dear Mom, I'm at the end of the TIP World's "Space Jam Camp". Things were supposed to be magnificent. It turned out to be the other way round. Let me start from the beginning... In my live I've been to many camps. TIP's camps were one of my favourites. Just to mention The Yellow Camp, Orange, Blue, 3D and so on... Then all of a sudden the people behind the camps changed their signature to TIP World. Phew, I thought then that they were gonners, yet they wre still able to arrange some of the best camps around. The Mystery Of The Yeti Camp gave me shivers like nothing else before. The Unlimited Camp with the Logic Bomb guys was a smasher. The Mystery Of The Thirteen Crystal Skulls Camp was just brilliant! Christoff, Logic Bomb guys, Si', Raja and the others... damn, this was a CAMP! Booze, chicks, splendid MUSIC... The second edition of it (The Secret Of The Thirteen Crystal Skulls Camp) was good too, but I've noticed the lack of vodka, too much psy-disco music, the chicks were uglier and had smaller boobs and there were some boring people on the camp site (one of them was Astrix as far as I can remember, now don't laugh, he has nothing to do with the Asterix and Obelix, this is just a nickname of "a very talented israeli musician"; the second one was one the guys responsible for Space Jam Camp), who made me yawn a lot. After that, it was straight from a downhill... sad but true. Even the camp which gathered a lot of guitar fans (The 6 Stringadelica Camp if my memory is correct) didn't fix TIP World reputation. I myself was still looking into the future hoping for a good camp with the likes of the previous ones. And boy, how foolish was I to think so... The main thingy of this camp are parties in a nearby club. Well, to be honest, the music played in it is mainly fluoro-rave, which makes me feel like listening to most of israeli music hiding under the "psychedelic trance" disguise. I guess the name says it all. The whole story of this music is based on very simple tricks we've had on previous camps, we have the same patterns over and over. Mom, it's boring as hell! I can't stand it and the rest of the kids can't either. The guys who run this camp (Alien and Cat, two guys from Israel; I resepct the second one, as for Alien, well, I don't think much about him to say it politely) repeated the same activities over and over, I feel like I was on some camp from the previous two years. What is more, I'm was bullied by some fellows who were at the previous parties. Their names are Aztechno Dream and Trancemega, to mention only those two. I won't go into details about particular days of the camp because, to be honest, there isn't anything interesting to write about. Frankly, I'm worried about the usage of my pen on this letter - this whole event isn't worth of my ink. Right now I'm packing my baggage. Someone wrote on the board with the TIP World logo "This Is Pure U Know What". A true sign of vandalism, but then again I can't argue with that. I'm leaving, my friends are disappointed and I'm also disappointed, as I was with many previous camps by TIP World crew. Please mom, send me some money so that I can go on a Twisted Camp. They never let me down and, furthermore, they do not lie about being great and all. "The benchmark has yet again been raised." Heh, now that's a good one... Hugs & kisses Charles
  14. Psychotic Micro are Mickey & Kobi, tow young Israeli guys who started to make their own music 2 years ago. They discovered the psy-trance music in the early 90’s, both coming from the rock scence: Mickey as a drummer in a metal band and Kobi as a guitar player in a psychedelic rock group. Their music is pure energy generating a psytrancechaos which takes the dancefloor whit no mercy. They have a collaboration whit Digital Tolk, making music togerher under the name Psycho Talk. And have also started whit Azax Syndrom a project called Catla. taken from: www.chemical-crew.tv

    V/A - Twisted Sessions

Well, I suppose everyone who likes psytrance knows who Tristan Cooke is - a brilliant musician and a DJ. Since his deiut album "Audiodrome" we haven't heard much from him - just few tracks here and there. Before we can have the opportunity to hear his second album dubbed "Substance". Lately Twisted Rec. gave us a chance to hear Tristan's DJ skills thanks to long awaited Twisted Sessions series. I have to admit that this has to be one of the best releases this year in times when plenty of 'unintelligent' music is being released. And what have we here? A bunch of great atmosphereic tracks blended into a perfect mix and sprinkled with some Twisted magic on the top - one couldn't ask for sth' better than this crazy stuff. Tristan, Prometheus, Dick Trevor from the very famous Green Nuns Of The Revolution, Alien Project... these names say it all. I won't go into details about the tracks, so as to not to spoil the element of suprise for the potetial listener. Just to mention about Audio Evagelists - best track here by far, Prometheus' track - I cannot wait to hear a full album of this talented artists, ad a rmx of Twisted Allstars - I like it even better the the oryginal versio from "Uusual Suspects". All in all it's a great piece of psytrace music, and if you like quality stuff, ad more over those crazy guys from Twisted that ever let me down on their releases, you'll love this. I just hope that the upcoming Tw. Sessios vol. 2 & 3 from the acid magician Doof and sonic manipulator Simon will be as good (or even better) as this release. Thanks to releases such as this I don't have to worry about leaving this music under the dust. This is how psytrance should be: full of imagination, never boring and dull, a bit crazy on the top and rich in fiber ;P. Overall: 9/10

    Johann - Stranded

Though I haven't heard the original version of "Stranded" (and same goes for "Brainspinner"), I have "Stranded (The Delta Rmx)" on Pulse 7 compilation and I must say that this is some wicked (and danceable by thw way!) stuff. A perfect chemistry between Johann Bley and evil trickery from The Delta. Sth beautiful... Get aquainted with that, and I'm sure You won't be dissapointed.
  17. This is really some good stuff on the whole of many samey releases! No bullshit here - just what the music of psyscene of tommorow should be - sick, weird and twisted Best track here is the mindblowing and asskicking Balloonies - definately would like to hear while a phase on the dancefloor (on some Toga party). We are all Alienated! PS. I don't give a note, beacause this music is not to be judged by any mark cathegories...

    V/A - Floatation

Shpongle - Saudate pt II is one of the best chillout tracks I've ever heard - it's ihmo also kind of an extended version of Flute Fruit track from "Tales Of Inexpressible".
  19. Whooa Antic, I've just read what you wrote - I have the same CD "The Future Sound of America". And guess what? I've bought it for 1$ !!! This is nuts - bargain boxes are everywhere... Coming back to the CD - all tracks are great - favourites are tracks 3 and 4 (!!!). If you see this cd don't hesitate and buy it (especially if it low prized like in my or Antic's case).
  20. Children, I cannot believe my eyes. Magik is one of the best Simon the Magician has ever made! Listen to it carefully and you'll understand why the title is Magik.
  21. V/A - A Taste Of Dragonfly 4 Artist: Various Title: A Taste Of Dragonfly 4 Label: Dragonfly Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'51" UX : Alien Earth Activity 02. 06'48" Killing Joke : Jana (Hallucinogen Rmx) 03. 07'05" Shakta : Space Flowers (Dirty Guitar Mix) 04. 08'03" Pleiadians : Moon In Your Window 05. 07'01" The Muses Rapt : The Return Of The Travellers 06. 06'04" Zodiac Youth : Don't Smoke Acid (Elysium Mix) 07. 06'21" Total Eclipse : Aliens 08. 07'53" Oforia : Compulsive Dance 09. 06'30" Genetic : Change 10. 07'35" Ceeltic Cross : Hicksville Review: The fourth comp from "a taste of dragonfly" series. Again we have the opportunity to taste some of the best music work made by great Dragonfly artists. It's a quite nice comp, with some of the finest old tracks like "Aliens" by Total Eclipse or Celtic Cross's "Hicksville". My personal highlights are the second track - a remix done by none other than Hallucinogenius himself (a real killer!) and "Hickville" - a brilliant masterpiece. The other tracks are good as well - just to mention great UX style in "Alien Earth Activity" or Shakta's "Space Flowers" from the times before Seb Taylor's minimal interests. Unfortunately there is one bad tune on this cd, and it is "Change" made by Genetic - I just can't stand this track but it's only my opinion. What can I say more - it's worth buying if you like Dragonfly's style. Very tasty! 7.5/10
  22. Howling At The Moon is for me one of the best tracks Cosmosis has ever made. For me the last 4 minutes of this great track could last forever...
