production quality is nice, but it's not my style of dnb. the first one is too electro-influenced (actually it's sound like it's in the middle between electro house and dnb), the second one is dubstep. i more a fan of the hard, fast and dark (and/or trancy) kind of dnb like tech itch, bse or eye-d. actually i remember noisia making a similar style...

this one was played quite a lot over here back then:

I used drum and bass as a staple term because they do draw influence from electro, dubstep, etc.. That second song is byfar my favorite dubstep song, it has an old school feel and its catchy. Plus they collaborate with Amon Tobin and some other notable producers.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about either drum & bass or dubstep, but it seems to take a lot of influence from dubstep to me, and not really in a good way. It seems like it takes some of the good parts out of DnB and puts in some of the bad parts of dubstep.

The song Padmapani posted I like a lot in its original form (on Dieselboy's "Sixth Session" mix), but that version seemed just a cut & paste job that took a lot of the good out and put nothing new or interesting in.

I've never been much of a fan, but they've released at least one really good EP, "Monster". Unfortunately it's only available on vinyl as far as I'm informed, which is why I still don't own an original copy. It's in this atmospheric Neurofunk/Darkstep style which I love. Here's my favourite track:

Those who like this particular sound should be sure to check out Desimal (Graham March), a brilliant and unique D'n'B producer who, unfortunately, committed suicide a few years back. He's my favourite in the entire D'n'B spectrum to this day - too bad his material isn't available on CD, either, it'd really deserve a proper complete works box or something along those lines. Some highlights of his work, starting with my all-time favourite:

That was pretty good, I like the ambient feel over the DnB beat. The Desimal stuff was hit and miss for me. It seemed like it had all the elements of DnB but somehow failed to put them together well.

Well, I can imagine it's a matter of taste: to me, it's the exact opposite - most other D'n'B tends to bore me, but I find Desimal's work genuinely interesting and deeply atmospheric. "Wormhole" by Ed Rush & Optical is the only album I've found so far that can compete with Desimal, and rightly so, considering it's a milestone in the development of Neurofunk as far as I'm informed.
