Dec. '03, I had just ingested an extremely massive dose of shrooms in a creepy dark basement at midnight by myself, and my friend started sending me tracks off of Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger on the comp down there. Quite a trip, I was in a world of demons and plants with infinite fractalled leaves.
Entheogenic for sure. I haven't heard Shulman, but Bluetech is boring full-on. Entheogenic is beautifully produced and written highly psychedelic music, almost toward the chill-out end of the spectrum...
I really hope Simon Posford gives thought to returning to the psy scene, it needs him. Bad. I agree with most others here in that the shit out there today isn't psychedelic at all. The genre has become redefined from a sonic exploration into mysticism... certain sounds were found catchy by people, and artists stopped exploring, just going for a sound...
Anyone know of anything possessing the same epic, hypnotic and melodic qualities of Darshan - Awakening, Plastikman - Consumed, and Solar Quest - Entropica... that withdrawn, dark, quiet and balanced, but by no means minimalist, sound...
To the guy who talked about a vaguely 303 sound with subtractor - how do you do it? I can get it to catch one or two aspects of the sound, but not more...
I don't know if much of the stuff listed really qualifies as ambient, it sounds like most of what's been listed is chillout...
Carbon Based Lifeforms (downtempo/chillout/ambient)
Brian Eno - Thursday Afternoon (ambient)
I've been searching for forever on soulseek for Solar Quest albums... I've managed to find the two Orgisms CDs, but I can only find the first of the Acid Ophilez CDs, and the bitrate is low... damn! Is anyone willing and able to help me out in any manner here (including even just a link to some place carrying their CDs)?
