  1. Steve Roach - Arc of Passion (first half) Incredible. What a total genius....and to perform this live even. :clapping: After the 20th minute and on, the piece reaches a sort of perfect momentum. You want it to continue forever. This is simply unparalleled. This is what electronic music is all about, to me.
  2. Pete Namlook, Klaus Schulze & Bill Laswell - Dark Side of the Moog 4 - Three Pipers at the Gates of Dawn part 2 Completely Awesome.
  3. Basicly the entire 'Synthesizer Greatest 1' tape: http://www.musicmeter.nl/album/48999 Theme From Antarctica, Axel F, Pulstar, Tubular Bells... All remakes of classic electronic tracks by some Dutch guy. I played it endlessly when I was 11, 12 years old. For me it started everything (but the original versions of these tracks are better of course).
  4. Raison D'Etre - Metamorphyses Phase IV + Phase V Absolutely fabulous ambient art. This is my mental therapy.
  5. Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear
  6. High Energy Protons is awesome. One of the best 4x4 tracks ever. The rest is....ok, but a little dull and weak sounding IMO. Though I still have a soft spot for Laughing Gas as I'm positive it is the first goatrance track I've ever heard. Somehow I remembered this and found out. But most of that album is no match for later tracks like Rotorblade and Conga Fury.
  7. within electronic music: very broad within psy: as thin as pringles legs
  8. Solaris is maybe even more beautiful. Really emotional track.
  9. funny I recently played it and thought it was very good yeah =) it's from Shango
  10. Tiesto - In Search of Sunrise 5 disc 2 Actually a very nice mix CD. Good old trance music. :posford:
  11. Today I listened to all ambient mixes I've made in these years and this one is definately my favorite. So here's a bump just for the hell of it. I doubt I'm gonna make any more mixes in the future. They are fun to make, but there's little creativity to it I'd rather focus on making my own music. See first post for the link and enjoy the ride.
  12. and once you get over all the Carbon Entheogenic Based Shpongled Solar Shulmans, check this out: Robert Rich - Numena Tetsu Inoue - Organic Cloud Steve Roach - Fever Dreams 2
  13. Steve Roach - Fires Burning Sound magic.
  14. This is very good. Even though it's a long track with a lot of repetition, there is just enough variation in sound and composition to keep the music interesting. That's basicly a key feature of good ambient music. What a lovely track! :clapping:
  15. Fever Dreams 2.......... listening to this again. It's so wonderful I almost got emotional. http://www.steveroach.com/Music/discography.php?albumID=307 This got to be among the best music he or any 'similar' artist has ever made. Especially tracks 2-6 and of those especially 3, 4 & 5. Fantastic soundscapes, rhythms and vocals. Hauntingly beautiful, incredibly dynamic and alive. This is music with a soul.
  16. It's sublime. The totally gorgeous and hypnotizing title track is the real deal here. Beautiful chords and intricate, detailed, slowly evolving, never ending sequences. Who needs key changes anyway when the rest sounds so great For people who don't get annoyed by the repetitive aspects, this is simply an ultimate ambient treatment for your ears. The thing with this music is u can't really listen to it properly when doing other things, or it will sound 'too much of the same'. U just gotta put on headphones, lay down, close your eyes and absorb the sounds to discover its true potential. With this beautiful recording of a live performance(!) Steve Roach wins ambient 2007.
  17. that's a very nice one, I think it would be perfect for starters
  18. Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell - Samira
  19. Juno Reactor - Solaris Very beautiful, soulful emotional track
  20. He's my favorite artist in electronic music. For the record I'll add: - Kairos, see my review under 2006 - Fever Dreams 2, the best tribal ambient I've ever heard. Tracks 3,4,5 are completely mesmerizing and the rest is very good. http://steveroach.com/Music/discography.php?albumID=307 - Arc of Passion? Will find out soon
  21. JUNO REACTOR - ROTORBLADE For sure in a futuristic wasteland a la Mad Max.
  22. AWEX - BACK ON PLASTIC :posford: :posford: :posford: :posford:
