  1. Just got in mail today. Quality I think I would call this more hardtrance then psytrance imho.
  2. The producers I have talked to use both a pair of specialized studio monitors and a pair of standard home-use speakers. They listen through both and make shure that the sound is good on each. I heard one guy say that he always listened to his mixes in his car afterwards.
  3. I will have to watch what you recommend, that Guinea Pigs cd sounds awesome!
  4. The ones I use are like the K 240 but don't have the detatchable wire, I guess mine is its predecessor. They have worked out well for me. Outside I use a pair of Sennheiser HD 212pro, sound is good.
  5. What is this 'Wave Idea Bitstream Midi controller' you use? Midi is vary simplistic and should be kept as simple as possible. I haven't actually had a studio up for a couple of years, but I used to be pretty good with it. I just want to clarify a few things: 1. you have the midi channel set right (in port can be one or omni) 2. you are trying to send data like bank changes etc from your synth to your computer. 3. you realize that system exclusive means exactly that : you can't use it on another source, it is hardware dependant I believe there is software that will save a midi dump if that is what you want to do.
  6. There was a song I had in my head for two years before I got the chance to make it. It didn't unfortunitly turn out as good as it was in my head. It seems that a day is a good amout of time to 'get things together' into a basic mix. However after that I can tweak and fuss for months if I let myself. It really depends on the insperation.
  7. I use a pair of AKG's for mixing down. I used to have a pair of Sony headphones that had this amazing frequency responce range of 50 Hz to 50 kHz but I discovered that listening to them for long periods of time made my ears 'tired' because of the high frequencies. The AKG's I use now are pretty famous, go to their website. (Google it) I like that they have a high resistance now that I know what that is... It is all prefference, but I prefer the closed-ear type myself for greater sound isolation. I think I got mine on sale for $150 USD but they retail for much more I'm afraid. Christopher AKA The Sky Electric
  8. With the $50 amazon gift certificate my brother sent me I got AFX's Chosen Lords and Velvet Acid Christ's Lust for Blood. Its not psytrance but I'm still fishing for suggestions. hint
  9. There is some music I am trying to find. I have no names here all I can do is discribe. I don't even really know if it exists outside of my head.... Let's discribe: it is probably above 160bpm and it has a vary in-your-face synth for the main part vary vary psychodellic, hooks mabe you would call them. to compare ...honestly I now live in the wilds of Oregon,USA so I don't have much I'd say as good as Eat Static's faster trackes from Inplant but more of a harder edge to the synth sounds... It is probably an older track as it has been a long time -thus the difficulty in finding. I don't know what subgenre you would put it into but it dosn't use any samples/lyrics. I have been browsing [lurking] this forum since I registered to get names and I will listen to as many as I can. p.s. Just listened to Tutankhamon 9000, and no that's not them. Fast enuegh but not them. what I hear is far, far better....
  10. Eat Static is one of my favorit bands of all time. I have almost all of there albums execpt their new ones. They have been a huge infuence on me and I would recommend them to anyone. I just wish there were more like them.
