  1. Hey, cool track man. I like it. I do think that maybe you could add some more percussion elements and I think you should bring the kick drum up slightly in the mix. A little more variety in your arrangement would be nice as well. Awesome effort. I would love to hear some more tracks and love to know what gear you are using as well. Nice work!
  2. Haha, that is cool. I do random moods with my stuff. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to listen. I welcome anyone else's opinion.
  3. Thanks buddy I would love the hear some more opinions so please take a listen and leave one. Thanks.
  4. This is pretty cool man. I love some of the synth programming. I do think the drums lacked energy, but this is a very unique sound. You definitley have a cool style. I would love to hear more stuff if you have it.
  5. I think I a going to have to agree with these two. This does get boring pretty fast. It sounds cool to start off with but this need some more dynamics and better arrangement. It's a decent effort but I think you can work a lot harder to make this more interesting.
  6. I just finished a new song and would love for some of you to check it out and critique it. I by no means claim to write psytrance or any type of trance. I just write trance, but check it out and let me know what you think about it. I look forward to hearing your comments! Here is the link.... http://www.myspace.com/esoness The new song is SuperDuper. It should play automatically when you open the page. BTW, it's a stream and the quality is not great to please take that into consideration. Thanks!
  7. For the longest time my bass sound was the thing that frustrated me more than anything. I just couldn't seem to get the sound I wanted and it was really pissing me off. Then I got the NI Komplete bundle and found the oh so lovely Pro-53. It took me a bit to get things just right, but man it sounds so good now. Now the bass is the best part of my tracks. I highly suggest any NI software and the Pro-53. Great sounding stuff. Also, it would really help to read up on subtractive synthesis. You don't have to be a genius when it comes to it, but to understand the principles of it will make a huge difference in your capabilities to create great sounding bass right from your synth. EQ and compression definitely help, but the sound itself is by far the most important element and understanding why and how to create it will save you a lot of time and a lot of frustration.
  8. No offense but that is a pretty shitty attitude.
  9. I think you need a different kick. It's a bit too soft in my opinion and lacks a hard thump in the lower end of the frequency range. I do like the kick, but I think if you want more energy something with more of a mid range snap and low end thump would help. Nice snare sample too. I love natural acoustic sounding snares.
  10. http://www.hollowsun.com This site is AWESOME!
  11. Good effort here. This is definitely decent. I think your drum programming could be a little deeper with a bit more variety, but it gets the job done. Some of the synth programming is very cool. Keep up the hard work!
  12. You could do it but it definitely would not do what you would hope for it. Like said earlier, you would have to be able to have access to each individual track to really make a big impact.
  13. I just started messing with Abletons Live 4.0 and I love it. It is so easy to write with it's insane. Plus it supports VST and Audio Unit plugs. Seriously, it's amazing how condusive it is to writing quickly. I highly suggest it.
  14. I just listened and it's a good effort. Some of the synth lines are pretty cool. I do think you need to work on the mix and add some compression (or at least more of it) would be a good idea. The bass could be bigger and a bit more upfront in the mix and kick drum could probably come down a little, but that of course is just my opinion. Anyways, nice work. Keep up the hard work. BTW, what are you using?
  15. I used to have a 307 way back in the day and I had a TON of problems with it. Roland stopped making it because it had a lot of known bugs and issues with playback skipping when changing patterns and midi problems and related stuff with the OS.
  16. Hey, thanks a lot for the samples. I am really digging some of these kicks. All of them sound great though. Nice and clean. I just wanted to say thanks, I really appreaciate you hooking me up.
  17. Wow, I'm impressed. I am listening to your new track right now and I must admit, this sounds damn good. Nice work there buddy. I'll definitely be downloading these and spreading the word. Excellent work.
  18. I totally agree with the original poster about Reason. I have been using it for sometime now, and I have come to the conclusion that you can't get "great" sounds out of reason unless you export the audio and work with each track individually with eq, compression, and even reverb and delay. I think all of the FX, EQ's, and compressors are garbage in reason. I like the scream though, but I'm not sure if you consider that an FX or not. I have actually compared the quality of my tracks done solely in Reason, and the ones that I have exported the tracks individually out of Reason and into Pro Tools, and there is not even a comparison in quality in my opinion. I kind of use Reason as a scratchpad now for my songs. I love the interface and the ease of use and how quickly I can write in it. I can usually get the majority of a song done in one sitting. But now I am exporting everything and working in Pro Tools. The Waves plugs that I have for Pro Tools are incredible and really make a huge difference in the sound. Plus working in PT allows me more flexibility with the audio, being able to edit the actual audio and go deeper into EQing everything. Reason is cool, but I do think the fact that it is an all in one program hurts it's strength in certain departments, mainly that being sound. I have also started using synth plugs for Pro Tools which I love now. I think the stand alone synth plugs sound so much better and bigger than the reason synths. Eventually I am probably going to ditch Reason altogether because of the incredible new features and support that Pro Tools has for midi and plugins now. The new Pro Tools 6.7 has an incredible amount of excellent new midi features. I highly suggest Pro Tools to anyone who is thinking about buying a sequencer. I love it, and it sounds so damn good once you really get to know how to use it and get experienced with audio engineering.
  19. I have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M40fs and I love them. They sound great loud and they are very comfortable. Plus, they are true flat frequency. I highly suggest them. I think I paid around $120 for em. They might even be cheapher now because I bought these about 5 years ago.
  20. Will do. As a matter of fact, I have both of those plugs
  21. This sounds pretty good there buddy. What are you using for your bass? I am really diggin' your bass tone. It's nice and clean.
  22. In my opinion, Infected has really broken some serious boundaries in creativity and quality in their production. Seriously, I doubt there is another artist in any electronic genre that can get their sounds to come out so clean. Even really big mainstream electronic artists like crystal method, prodigy, or say chemical brothers can't touch IM in terms of production in my opinion. As a matter of fact, I would be willing to go as far as to say that I believe all IM albums to be among the best produced and engineered records to date. I think the reason I have such a strong opinion about this is because I have been producing and engineering recordings for many years in my studio out of my house, so it amazes me a little more from that perspective to hear such clean and punchy recordings, especially from a couple of guys doing this stuff out of a small setup like theirs. Anyways, I think the new record rocks and highly suggest it to anyone who likes these guys. You won't be dissapointed.
