  1. I'd like to have a square that looks like triangle. Anyone?
  2. Free ur mind and ur ass will follow. Ideas are just like anything else, seek and thou shall not find, stay at your home and it will come to you. Catch it when you see it coming.
  3. Just make the darn music and fuck the rules! Chaos! Anarchy! Bwaaaaaaah!
  4. Lesbian Dopeheads on Mopeds (actually someone's soulseek-alias, but who cares)
  5. Rules are for knowing what you achieve by following them. edit: As said above I see.
  6. DDR is SDRAM. You can't use old SDRAM chips on new mobos.
  7. Benefits from HT are minimal, and it is known to cause some problems with certain music apps. Many of them could of course be fixed already. Getting AMD64 is better than getting LGA775-based P4. Aren't they having heating problems? Anyway the performance is better. I see no benefit using Intel, it's just the name that people are after. And you can multitask without HT too. It may give you slight improvement, like couple per cent, but it's easily compensated with other good things that AMD has. Of course the AMD64 technology is far from being fully supported, but it will come. It does not lose to P4 in performance, more like other way around. If you want to see someone using AMD as digital audio workstation, go to Studio-Central DAW forum and check the upmost sticker, the Tweak's DAW. (Tweak is site holder and long term music producer. He also uses MacG5.) That should get you convinced. There's a lot other things to read too. Dual G5 is best you can get, but you can't.
  8. well you ain't gonna get a Mac then. P4 architecture is bad. With AMD you get more bang for the buck.
  9. How's ur budget? Go for Mac. If not then AMD. P4's are crap.
  10. How did I totally miss this post? I remember feeling the same with Jaïa - Mai Mai when I first discovered it. I must listen to it again. Thanks for reminding me, lets see what I can get from it today.
  11. That's where I mostly diagree. I find melodies in goa often pretty flat. Of course there are some nice melodies, but they're almost always just looped short clips, so they aren't very versatile. Which was the point exactly.
  12. Sounds are ok with my hp's, except kick. See, it's overdriven and clipped @ 2:24. That's minor, but it's not perfect. It might sound even better if you could balance it just right. When it comes to music, you sure are infected.
  13. Want to learn to make music? Then: Learn your tools through. Nothing replaces intuitiveness. Read that theory. And then put that tongue on your cheek and let it go, try everything out. That's the best way to get to know new things, you never get tired of having fun, do you? Theoretic knowledge supports practical knowledge and vice versa. Never stop expandig your horizons by dismissing theory and bookish knowledge as uncreative way to approach music, as meny people seem to do, and never stop experiementing with doing things another way. So use this thread as source of what you could try out rather than what you should do. Use your ears, music is not art for eyes.
  14. Ahh, no no no. Or is it my english that is wrong, but C-E-G is a tonic (right word?) chord of C major, and C major is the key. Notes in that key are C-D-E-F-G-A-H (B if you are in new continent, and in many music programs)-C, and C-bE (=D#) - G is C minor, with notes C-D-bE(d#)-F-G-bA(G#)-bH(A#)-C. Why D# equals to bE is because there's one whole note in between them, so rising D by one half-note (symbol #) leads to same note than lowering E by one half-note (symbol b ). There is whole note between all two notes except E and F, and H (or B ) and C. The key then tells you which notes you need to rise or lower to get the correct steps to make desired scale when playing from a base note of a key. More from that below. When purging deeper you can see that scales construct from different sized steps from one note to another. In western musical theory they are represented in seminotes, or half-notes if you prefer, and whole notes. In any major scale the steps are 1-1-½-1-1-1-½, and in any minor scale the steps are 1-½-1-1-½-1-1. That's the baiscs of major and minor scales. If you want super goa vibe you can go with hexatonic scale, from C it would be like C-bE-E-bG-G-H-C. (1½-½-1½-½-1½-½ in note steps) Or make any own scale, I used to do that alot. They all have names, but who cares if you can play them without? If you are going to know keys and scales you better start learning chords too. Because melodies never exist without chords, even if they aren't played.
  15. Well, you can make the sound, allright. At least with headphones the bright sound playing single notes in the end has too high volume. No other comments.
  16. Well, I really don't need to contact him, I quit making music years ago so nothing like co-op projects or so, but I would love to get a hold from his songs, since I really cannot seem to be able to find any of them online. Of course I could always ask him for them, if that seem to be appropriate way of finding them. I think it was jsut "Razor Fountain" that was the song that I was very fond of. "Rivers of Gold" rigs a bell too, so maybe I liked that one too. Know how I could get them to my HD?
  17. I heard that coming already as I wrote my reply.
  18. Don't think that's him, should have chance to listen. But don't think, possible tho.
  19. Hi. Anyone know him? I remember I liked one his song years back but cannot locate any info from the dude. Whazzup? Does he make music? Under what name? Homepage?
  20. Well then you must be sorry because I don't like Muses Rapt. Power Source is unknown to me.
  21. I like Shango best. It's not cheesy at all, except the worst tracks like Master of the Universe and Pistolero and like. Best tracks like Hulelam and Insects are just wicked. But why to search alternative if you like Juno anyway. Or is it missing something in your point of view? If someone would copycat Juno-sound, it would be so unoriginal that I think at least I would not listen to it, and Juno has so versatile tracks that it's impossible to name someone that would sound like Juno. They're unique. You could try some Japanese or Aussie bands, like Rovo (I've only heard Flage), Soft or AOA, or some Shaolin Wooden Men, they're pretty unique but doesn't sound like Juno. But they do combine electronic and acoustic sound. And be sure to listen to Texas Faggott! btw. I like blue rotten cheese. It's not good to put it in your ass though, you can't taste it there.
  22. Yep. Point was that even though goa can make you feel better, rise your serotonine levels or sumthing, it is not happy music, does not sound happy. So goa does not contain emotions, but more like makes you feel better, which is completely different from being happy music, which also might make you feel happy, but in different way. Or I would prefer saying goa can make you feel good but not happy. Happiness or joy is different feeling than feeling good. And this "magic" is often pretty simple in goa, but I can't deny it does work in some cases, as in every musical style. This is what separates good music from bad music. And you CAN rationalize this magic too, and it does not make it nonexistent, unlike most people seem to think. Althoug there is almost infinite pool of magic to dicover, it all consists of harmony and disharmony. Extremely simplified of course. At its best there is much more magic in good classical pieces than in ten goa songs. But also when the track is carefully constructed with love you cannot really compare it with anything, because it's unique, just like people. So it's not relevant to say that there is more magic in some style than in other, you just can say thatyou have noticed that there is more good songs in some style, or less in another. Maybe this is what I'm saying. There is little good music in the genre of goa that I'm aware of. Of course you now think that it's a matter of taste. You can say that, it might be so. But I think that you can improve your musical taste, and goa is not the ultimate music, but just music like any else style of music, and when made with talent and love it can be good, but in many cases it isn't so. I have nothing against any musical style.
