Yes I agree a very groundbreaking movie for sure in the visual department. They have remastered it in the 4K standard, so I'm sure it will be even more eye-popping somehow. The original still looks very crisp, re-watching the Apple-TV version now. The colors sure are very nice, splendid color gamut! Cameron has the magic touch. :D

Yea damn., First time I saw it in regular cinema I walked right out to the counter at the end of the movie to purchase a ticket for the 3d version and went right back in. Still haven't seen a 3d film that matches the beauty of the the original.

  2. Really love what you guys do at UGR. I think Peyote People is one of the all time most powerful releases I've heard in general and don't know how it wasn't in the scenes consciousness until the release. Released the same time around Cronomi's Globox and Suntrips BOTFB I couldn't help but keep going back to the Peyote Peeps.

    Never stop the mission!

And also for the newly remastered Avatar, which will be available in cinemas this fall. Alongside it’s sequel.

Whats the deal with the remaster? It was already spectacular.

  4. Just watched 'The King' on Netflix. Lil Timmy Chalamet is really on the up and up. Dune was amazing, I walked out to the news it took 7 years to pull off and am wondering how long it will be for the rest of them.

  5. I think the tough part is trying to reconcile Liquid Neon Sky with a request for dark or scary music. To me LNS isn't really close to something I'd call dark or spooky.

I'd definitely recommend Sab Kuch Milegator

    Proxeeus - Perversion and Insanity

Maybe even Xenomorph - Demagoguery of the Obscurants

  6. Liquid Neon Sky and all of Earth Crossing is just unreal. You don't always notice it at first but eventually the album opens up to you and "woah"! I went through a phase where nothing else sounded good to me but that Chi A.D album.

I don't have recommendations for anything like. I've never heard any tracks like anything from Earth Crossing. Lot's of wild sound moments from that album. I love the Industrial house sounding wobbly sheet metal sound coming in at 3:20 on the track X-Isle. Once again, nothing like it as far as i;ve found.

Based on your other comments though check out the song 'Fluff Factory' from the album FF - Alienated - Most songs on the album are hot tbh.

And for something dark. Ya boi Proxeeus has you sorted. For a unique moment unlike almost anything i've heard listen to "Me, Myself, & A Gnop-Keh" from the Elan Vital Compilation. The break at 5:55. Just wait for it. I don't care if you don't like the start, you wait for it ya hear me. . . Btw the first half of the song I think is great too.

Let me know what you think. I'll try come up with some others closer to Liquid Neon Sky

    Artist: Filteria
    Title: Live With The Lag
    Label: Suntrip Records
    Release: 29th April 2022

Things change, the world changes, we change but one thing we can be sure of is Filteria's powerful, crazy and beautiful symphonies. If someone had of asked you about the expected changes of the world 5 years ago another solid Filteria Release might have actually been the only thing you got right. Is that because Goa trance is the truth? HUH? Is it?

    Yea, that is why.

This album is easily my favourite of his albums. And to be perfectly honest the only one I've really found myself getting fully immersed within. Much softer undertones and more uplifting floating moments than seen in previous albums but on the same trajectory. From Sky input, to Heliopolis to Daze and Lost in the Wild, this has very much been the direction Filteria is heading. Is this the Apex? Who knows, there is more time and trance seems to live in this sweet man.

The stock markets have crashed, the housing markets have crashed, the crypto markets have crashed - But Filteria keeps us soaring to the Moon and beyond!

Anyway, this is surprisingly the most concise review i've done yet. Enjoy

Labels come and labels go. Meet Kandiszucker Records, the latest label to come (I could've made that dirty, but this album is going to get plenty of grim and grit into your crevices without my help).

Straddling Goa and Forest with some loud boisterous melodies and more confidence than Hillary Clinton in 2016.

    @Tsotsi

I listened to the song and I advise you. This is just a killer set in the style of new goa

    (2011) Artifact303 & E-Mantra & Eleusyn - Psychedelic Vision Vol.1-2 (DJ Set)

If you throw such live I will be grateful

I saw you're other post as well. I stick to albums and ep's and rarely listen to sets so I have literally nothing to recommend.

@the goa constrictor might be the guy to step in here if he is still around. He has a great collection of sets on mixcloud and would have a great list of them to get you going.

  10. I don't know why but the last two years of album picks have been tougher to get down on paper.

Going off raw enjoyment and listen count here.

    Uptempo

    1. Globox - Flumina (Cronomi)

    2. VA - Mystika (Mystika Records)

    3. VA - Suntopia (Suntrip Records)

    4. Khetzal - Etamines (Suntrip Records)

    5. Syb Unity Network - Goa Years (Cronomi)

    6. Artifact303 - From The Stars (Global Sect)

    7. Moon Beasts - On The Edge (Goa Madness Records)

    8. Cosmic Dimension - Altar Of Wisdom (Global Sect)

    9. VA - Carpe Noctem (Suntrip Records)

    10. Proxeeus - Perversion and insanity (Kali Earth Records)
  11. Hey @Arti,

For point 1) - The music you're describing is the modern version of Goa. Although as @RTP pointed out you will find more of the variation in track structure and melody in the old school stuff.

I normally recommend labels over individual artists as it will give you broader range of artists to get into with different takes on the style. However over all it seems the artists you like I consider the more computerised sound with super clean and tight production. It's super cosmic. Also one of my favourite styles.

I would 100% recommend Crossing Mind. Their Inner Shift  album is so tight and clean with huge floating uplifting melodies.

After that look into Global Sect Musics Catalogue. I'd recommend anything from it but imo one of the best compilations of modern Goa ever released is their 3 cd Terraformer release. There is a pretty wide variety of current artists on the release and you can find their full albums from there based on whose style you like the most.

There are so many recommendation I could make so I'll save you a little time and just put down some that fit within the style you posted with Nova and E-Mantra although those two are pretty unique in their skill set (but you will find a lot of their 'sound' being used elsewhere)

    Median Project
    Atlantis
    Celestial Intelligence
    Antares
    Fiery Dawn
    Ephedra
    Ra

Neogoa Records are also going to be your friends here

I find Bandcamp to be the best place to go for Goa, happy hunting amigo and rock on :)

Oh and I got nothing on point 2..... :P

You don't, by any chance, remember any artist or track names? I'd be up for a digging session on my end. This stuff is great and I'd be interesting to hear more of it B)

I have bad news and bad news.

The bad: At the time of writing I hadn't listened to the Banco De Gaia track yet. It's much softer than I was thinking. In my mind Psy DnB sounds closer to:-

    This

    Or This

The other bad news is that the compilation I was thinking of was Psybreaks. Not Psy liquid DnB. 2022 bring me the Psybreaks!! it was on Sound park titled - "Psy breaks compiled by Zebyte" but it ain't even close to the uplifting beauty of the Banco track. Still bangaz imo tho. Here's an example for it (Before you go looking it up)

https://cosmrecords.bandcamp.com/album/v-a-boulevard-of-broken-drums the only legit Psy DnB album I could find.

Hope I didn't get any hopes up.

...Banco De Gaia ... and "remix BY Framewerk" ... that's where it gets down to when I don't edit my posts

(it was a goal for this year for me to edit less :P )

I am all in on psychedelic Drum and bass. Super underrated and unexplored.

Was at a pretty big bush doof last weekend and got down like crazy to the guy playing the psy DnB. Was certainly a highlight, potentially because there was no Goa.  But damn it was epic.

I've only ever found one illegal compilation on a torrent site that had epic liquid psyDnB and it really got me into it. But I could never find anything else.

As for 2022, fuck it who knows. It feels like we are currently in a simulation that throws one piece of shit at us after the next. So I'm just going to jump on your bandwagon and hope for more psyDnB, a Skarma album, the return of Global sect, a Centavra Project album and some more unexpected gems.

If you're yet to form your own opinion about this release then why not give siting back and allowing me to form it for you a try?

About as nightmarish as it gets without inviting Freddy Kruger in to perform a series of child sacrifices. no God-fearing man should enter here as there is no god to be found...Well not your cute little forgiving gods, all God's here are equipped with tentacles, many faces or no faces, an indifference to the incessant bitching of human kind and squeals so high pitched you'll shit your pants.

Nice to see Kali Earth And Proxeeus unite in a glorifying bloodbath of terrors.

regardless when music was recorded, what matters is when it's actually released to the public. Many of these "old school" releases are legit 2021 (or 2022 at the time of writing) releases BUT Bypass Unit, I would know as it's my favorite Goa release, was first released in CD format back in 1999.

Damn it feels nice to final have someone confirm the old school release situation. Always felt like maybe I was doing something naughty adding them to my 2021/22/20 lists. I'll take Bypass off

Sab Kuch Milegator - Tajunnan Rajamaa.... early 2021!

Could I pinpoint 'Bypass Unit - Drops of Obscure Eclipses' is in fact from 1999.  Other than that, it's a good initiative.

Oh damn, how did i miss Oopie!

I always wonder about the Classic Goa Trax and Unreleased Goa Gem releases. If they are released for the first time in 2021 doesn't that make them a 2021 release, regardless of when tracks are recorded?

  17. Just a list of 2021 releases.

Artist: Ohm Mind & Adam Shiva
    Title: Donut Space Walk EP
    Label: Self Release
    Release Date: Feb 16, 2022

    Tracklist:-

    1. Onion Rings of Saturn
    2. Supreme Black Hole With Cheese
    3. Donut Space Walk In The Pizza Nebula
    4. Lost Shaman Toast

    Well Look who it is.

Ohm Mind back with another friend.

This guy must be cooler than Virtuart and all of his friends.

What’s next? Ohm Mind and resident Cool-Dude Open Source?

    A man can dream,

Well today he has found his way into a studio with Adam Shiva, the shit-hot new guy on the block.

    Two charismatic gents

I maintain that Ergot Pulsing is one of the greatest newschool tracks out there and The Nature of Life EP was hot shit.

So these two little freaks together can only be a good thing and if the cover art is anything to go by, you can tell they’re here for a good time.

Track 1: One of the best things about an Ohm Mind & friend track is that you know they’re having a great time behind the sounds. Onion Rings of Saturn makes that blatantly clear and boy was I right about this combo being a good thing.

These two have such an array of sounds at their disposal and use such a beautiful amalgamation of them together.

The closest I ever got to losing my marriage was Tandem Bike Riding in Sweden in front of her family for our first holiday... That's not the look.

Well these two would have my father in law go out to get adorned into the protestant church just to give away his blessing. That mid-break charge-up-drop into chaos was enough to make me think that to maintain that kind of energy would involve a couple of spells and some adrenochrome.

The following act of explosions shows you exactly how and has the balls to slowly build into another giant mess of anti-matter and chaos. Before shutting it down… We’ve had our fun.

Supreme Black Hole With Cheese is full of the open soundscapes of space. I’ve never gotten a solid idea of what ‘Cheese’ is in tracks. That being said, and maybe it’s just a name, but this track melts and drips it's tribal cosmicism all over your coveralls and into your crevices.

    image.png.883e8ba3ade6ca61bfa82391c0b78ea1.png

The vocals were bad-ass and unexpected as they launch a rocket full of Gruyère right into hyper-drive.  Completely fun and completely twisted.

Track 3: Ah yea, the rock and roll track. The big promo, They hold the guitar for the entire first act bringing it in and out when other big bits of acid come to the front of the stage.

I always think that if your gonna have a big guitar in a track you gotta really riff and treat it the same way you treat all of your other sounds. The boys don’t do that and hey, maybe they just didn’t want to. Instead they use it smash other sounds against it to create big symphonies of chaos that draw you in for a lil’ hypnosis.

It sounded for a second like they were gonna start twisted the guitar at the break into the final act and then they finally go ahead and get a lil extra crazy for the last couple of bars.

I don’t wanna sound hungup on the guitar, the song was gangsta poppin and a straight rock sesh

Lost Shaman Toast gives me visions of Goa Nyan Cat flying around all the fun parts of space meeting aliens.

    image.png.1fd1e17f64f52d00b9a00aeb13137f65.png

It holds the wacky energy right from the beginning of the track and feels like a true and complete mix of these two skills. The space phaser melody turns a trick and floats right into a green jungle melody Which leads into bringing all of the jungle to space. Leaves, Anacondas and Nitrogen everywhere. Straight gas.

Another successful release from both of these guys. The music is rockin' and it's even nicer to know people are out there collab-ing and having a good time. I know social media ain't showing us all of the lowlites, but it's felt like Jérémy has danced through it all it all and thank fuck someones doing that.

I love listening to these guys try new stuff and add new repertoires into their styles.

Musically I really appreciate this release, it ain't always easy to find the right Goa for hot days in the sun, generally I like that dark vibe for this music. But every now and then someone comes along and drops some wild energy like this. Window down, arm out tha window, glasses on, chewing tobacco, Donut Space Walk on the record and 3km's over the speed limit. This is living.
