I already deleted them all. Apologies to those who make a living from producing and selling new products.

Hey Joti thanks for the understanding. Btw really appreciate the posts you've made otherwise.

Honestly using Soundpark (dodgy Russia website) was how I found psytrance and then Goa trance. Without it I may never have gotten into this genre. But now that I know labels I feel that is the better way to continue discovering releases via Bandcamp etc.

  2. Just realized but gotta be honest. Not a big fan of you posting free download links on the site.

They look dodgy but also take away from an artist a potential sale which would go a long way to them making more music. You do you, but don't think it should be on Psynews.

I'm not saying I don't want you Jotinha here. Just the links on the Russian shop remind me of soundpark

  3. I found the sound of this one more in line with the old Median Project (depths of space) release. But the melodies are based more on arpeggios and key progression than solid singular acid lines.

Kretsløp was more in your face but the melodies carried a bit further and had more extension to them.

I like both. But am really liking this one at the moment. Will probs be my fav from the artist. The bass lines and bubbly low end on same tracks are particularly dark and awesome. Giving it a good balance.

  4. I agree with Trolsk. I've been following GoaPsyRecords since their first few releases on Bandcamp.

I always found the production quality quite high and good. Very polished sound and also very original.

But the label name and this album title in general make me think they are unaware of everything inside of the overall genre, which may be a good thing. But for finding them online. Very hard.

Ablass has always been my favourite on the label tho and this release sounds pretty great. The hardest and dare I say 'darkest' psy I've heard from Ablass so far.

Yeah racing games and Psytrance is good combo! I miss that, gotta find me a good racing game, I'm eyeing the latest Forza Motor Sport, and Gran Turismo. :D I have no car tho, that's also a good environment to test out music for sure! It must be a highlight for any artist to test out their new music in a good car sound system I imagine.

Used to love me some Rocket League and Goa/prog psy. In the end I got worse and worse as I cared less about the game and more about the music.

  6. I feel similar to the Doktor in that I don't find anything bad about this release and actually quite like it. But there is nothing in the tracks for me to latch onto, no big moment to wait for and no real way for me to prefer one track over the next.

On the point of VR, this is great music to have on while playing a racing game or going for a drive at night.

  7. Nice review. I feel mostly the same way about the tracks here as you.

Shadwows, Myriad Vision, escape from withered temple my favourites.

A step away from their more tribal, spacey, organic album Human Control which I think is there best to date. But that album had more tracks so about the same % I feel are unique and A+ tracks.

Gargantuan Tribes is indeed fantastic but the chaos of Homunculus made it my favourite from the album. Likewise on Human Control we got Future.exe and The Captain Is Dead which really stood out to me as well as the first 2 tracks.

On the same note Shadows comes across as the most chaotic to me which makes it a favourite here.

What I really appreciate is they have 3 strong albums, all distinct from one another but all distinctly Triquetra. The talent on these two is crazy and one of the artists where I can always feel the energy of their 'soul' / 'state of mind' / 'bodies' behind the tracks they make.

    Thanks Tsotsi.

Well we could send them the text of course.

I wonder if I may make a general comment on compilations? I take some inspiration from Paul Oakenfold's "A Voyage into Trance" - Oakenfold became terrible but back in 95 he put out this extremely good compilation that really understood flow - ok, it is mixed together, but even with a non-mixed compilation, flow is essential. I like the idea of ambient, or at least more chilled, intro and outro tracks, a plateau, and a peak. But even if this classic version of flow were tossed out, flow of some sort is important I think. So perhaps we could ask particular people to contribute something in a certain tempo for a section of the compilation?

Or perhaps it is best to work with tracks already out, as AstralProjection suggested above?

My first introduction to trance was while writing an essay at the uni library with Jen Flemming Joof Sessions Vol 1. Playing. The intro lulled me in and before I knew it I was completely hypnotized in a state of productive flow. When I snapped out of it I had 3 different books open I was working from and almost a completed essay. It amazed me that that was possible. And my love for trance began.

So I like the idea of a mixed together soft intro.

Honestly I think we could get a lot of entries from the Goa crew.

I think Joske, cronomi, Kali Earth and the global sect crew would be happy to put the word out to their artists.

I can create a YouTube video putting the call out and see if we get some entries like that.

The sample text will set the scene and give people a good idea of what to send in.

Doesn't have to be Goa only that's just my network.

I'm not quite sure why I was thinking of this as a compilation album but I'm happy to fiddle with the text, for you to play with the text, or for it to be ignored.

I just hope some of the irony and humour comes across?

Na I didn't mean it like that. I don't see a need for any changes.

Just wondering how it would be framed if we are talking to people to send us tracks.

Personally I like the idea of it being an album but this isn't my idea and an album is harder work. So just asking the question

I don't really listen to goa or psy a lot these days. When I do it will be something old, and in general searching out new music seems draining to me, like most everything else in life. On the electronic side I listen to acid techno and I'm always trying (and failing) to find something dark and evil in the synth world. Google fails me every time. I tried searching "dark synth music" and got the term "darkwave" which is anything but dark. I stopped by Psynews today because I was trying to find something to listen to at work and wondered if there were any non-psy threads. There's a sound in my head that I want to hear but I can't find any music that sounds like it. That's generally a clue to go make it but I can't seem to do shit these days along those lines.

I just gave up on new goa after a while. Every once in a while I'd go through the new releases threads here or see what Suntrip had released and it never changed. I guess I did. I started drifting back to metal, occasionally gabber (for a couple songs at a time), acid techno. I want either dark and evil sounding shit, or Enya. 😂

Darkest techno(ish) I could recommend would be Nibanas side project Amortalist

    Hey people,

I don't know if my message came across properly, I developed a quite terribe fever that night, right as I wrote that post and I still have not fully recovered ... just wanted to tell you:

If you need a video or a soundcloud entry enqueued, hit me up, I can do it for you as long as I have some BAN left to splurge ^_^

Jungle TV is awesome, I believe the future of the internet (say "web 3") are not "dead texts" -- i.e. non interactive texts on webpages -- but interactive services, where you can participate in the action and this over there is a great example how to achieve it ... and I'm gonna be there sporadically anyways, holding up the Psytrance flag at least a little, regardless if anybody follows.

    cheers RTP

I've tried to use jungle tv and didn't really get what I should be doing on it and just haven't had a chance to dive back in.

Any videos about it you know of I can give a watch to understand better

    Halls of Amnesia

Sometimes a good title can create magic and honestly I think this is one of the best I've seen.

I don't know how much help I could be or if there is a place for me here but any promo stuff that could help I'd be happy to do what I can.

This forum has been pretty instrumental for my love of the music so I'd love to help if I can.

I can reach out to some label owners as well to see if they went to put some tracks forward or let the artists who release with them know about it.

    2023 remix

I posted this to a headphone forum the other day and got this reply from a guy

"This has some real nice early 1999 sounds happening, in 1999 the vibe sounded and felt just like this does today as opposed to listening to the 1999 music today which some has aged not so well. Fantastic share. I was expecting a way more generic Psy Trance rhythm when i mistakingly judged its cover."

Has anyone read this thesis / book about race and psychedelic trance?

    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1186918.Psychedelic_White

I've been reading the comments/reviews of the book, it sounds interested if you're interested in race observations and musings.

Personally I find the topic boring. Race always seems to be discussed from the industrial revolution onwards. As if atleast 10,000 of human cohabitation hasn't existed with non step never ending feuds for various reasons, but mostly for the deep down desire for conflict that out species seems to have.

Race is just one excuse of many to justify our violence and deep rooted disdain to members of our species.

So when it comes to looking at tiny little enclaves of sub cultures upon counter-cultures of our species and the way race plays into that, sure it could be interesting. But I don't find it particularly helpful or illuminating to know about it.

Sorry for the diatribe, like I said I haven't read the book, just basing this off comments and the synopsis. No hate for posting this or anything, just my opinion of these topics

    Have you read it?

I listened to it but it was bad so didn't merit a reply 😋

Sounds nothing like hallucinogen. Sure, the music does but the sound is plastic fantastic. Horrible kickdrum and that damn software sound.. Tbh it hurts my feelings personally whenever I see an old favorite move from the hardware stuff into software, and thinking it sounds good enough.

There are many ways of making software sound just as good as hardware but they don't know how to do it, it seems.  Or they just don't hear the difference. Or they do but they don't care.

Not sure what it is tbh.

There is such a thing as too much resolution and I think that's what's happened here.

I'm not an old-school fanatic, love my modern music the most. But this album has pushed every sound to the forefront making it perfectly clear and resolved while losing the depth and psychedelic nature of tracks that are a little fuzzy around the edges. Sections that should be found in the distant treble are positioned as the main attraction at the front of the soundstage.

That being said, I do think I'd enjoy this during a day time dancefloor party with the sun beating down and a little spring shower or one of this sprinkler systems overhead.

  16. @Trance2MoveU glad to see you around. Always miss your contribution when they aren't around

Still here, not much new album info coming in these days so only ever briefly (partly my fault). but boy does time disappear as you get older.

Mostly using Bandcamp to find new releases as I'm across most the labels.

I got an email long ago with a download link/code.

I would assume you may have too. It was to the email address of the gofundme campaign, not my Bandcamp email address, if that helps you locate it.

Love the album and art work.
Real special release. Truly appreciate the intentionality behind this release and all of Drezz's stuff.
    Elektrik Orgasm is truly missed

Na no email. Last one I had was just to confirm the contribution. I'll double check to see if I deleted it accidentally

You expected a melodic explosion with Proxeeus? :D
Thankfully I got pretty much what I expected, and with From Beyond being completely reworked from an early version I have, most of this album was new material to me.

I like it, can't really say more than that yet. This and the new Morphic Resonance and Triquetra albums are pretty much the only goa albums I've bought in the past few years.

You're missing out on the Global Sect VA Liquid Symphony.

Two great Morphic and Proxeeus tracks but packed with others as well.

On this album. I actually came back for a video review, first impression, but I filmed it on an old SD card and don't have a slot for that on a single device in the house.

    So it's lost for now.

Essentially it has a rhythm and rawness that we haven't heard on his last few releases. It is nothing like Mountain of Madness or Weird Tales but carries a similar expressive feeling for me.

Much more advanced technically of course.

The warm tribal kicks and bass lines were the biggest surprise for me.

Arkham Asylum a favourite at the moment. Super groovy stuff from a serious master at the game.
