  1. The track titled The Moon by Talpa on The Art of Being Non debut album is a great voice to psytrance song. I think the final track on Juno Reactor's Shango is beautiful and has a voice also, very emotional, floating, new agey/trance.
  2. The first track I like! The beat and melodies, coupled with the emotional sustained notes and/or ambience compliment the song and make it memorable. I like those quick key notes they echoed (daa) here and there. That's good. This is the best song for me on the album. Why can't other tracks have more feeling and punch like this one?! Track 2 is a bit too slow, floaty, lacking in punch or character. I like something a bit more dynamic like the first song. More of a beat/chill with catchy emotional melodies like Asura's earlier work would have been a better direction too. Give the songs more catchy melodies, energy, imagination, emotion, and rhythm! Track 3 kinda lumps along.. bump, bump... boring. Track 4 is okay. There just isn't that much going on I feel. The melodies come on and off with a strange sound and voices coming in and out. The song doesn't do much, but has a nice beat and sounds unique to the voice.. I like a melody that comes in during the second half or so.. and plays along with several other melodies. It's all very simple though. Track 5 is alright... decent beat, clicks... peaceful sounding, along with some other cool sounds. It's not that good but it's not bad either. Track 6 is too slow and bland for me. Don't hold down single ambient notes for too long with voices unless you really have something to back it up, such as an amazing wave of beautiful melodies, notes, sounds, etc.. hitting hard like a gust of wind. Track 7 has nice melodies, uplifting (maybe fluffy melodies) but I like it. Track 8.. blah. Some nice chimes but that's about it.. lacks imagination. Track 9 has more pick-up, tunes.. too repetitive for sometime until it changes and becomes more catchy.. until that part gets repetitive too. The last track 10 is just boring, plain, and not catchy to me. I don't know. It's gotta be more powerful, sad/beautiful melodic, emotionally capturing than the album is as a whole. Think of that music in Gladiator when he joins his family in Heaven at the end. Give me something that is impressive, moving, innovative. Think of the first Enigma album!! Think PHOBOS!!!!! This album is OKAY with some good ideas. Nothing more imho.
  3. What is this Mr. Science on the album cover? Bad choice. It looks like he's trying to market or sell whatever he's holding, Overall this sounds like a decent dark comp, not much more.
  4. Oops, I somehow read right over that part. Gotta pay attention more. Thanks.
  5. Speaking of review threads disappearing. Whatever happened to the MYSTICA - AGE OF INNOCENCE review thread?? I just wrote and added my review to that 1998 goatrance album in the last several days (2002-1998 section) ... only to find it missing. All the others seem to be there though. Any thoughts?
  6. No way! This is one of the last great goatrance albums of the 90's. Every track has character, substance, style. Time and work has been put into making every track count. There are NO BAD TRACKS on this album! It's refreshing to my ears and I reccomend it to anyone who loves or really appreciates both old and new skool goatrance. Beautiful, lush, melodies, tunes, sounds... layers and layers of CATCHY melodies and AMBIENT mixed in also! This has more emotion too which impressed me. There is atmosphere, world (music) influenced elements, lift-off's, and some very nostalgic tracks and moments. Simply put... MYSTICA: Age of Innocence is a wonderful goatrance album! MY SCORE ...................... 9/10 = GREAT!
  7. At first I thought this was meant to be funny, like what melody? There are actually melodies on this album?!?! But then I realized you were serious. Alright well, sayiing "KILLER" is easily arguable. With a great sterio system, and the volume turned way up, IMO I find the melody exactly 2:29 into track 6 great! Sometimes on this album after the first several tracks, I need a melody that stands out or my attention starts to drop, and I'm not talking about the occasional melodic bits that are altered, echoed, and mixed in here and there. I mean a well crafted, catchy melody. Hearing the first 5 tracks with no real, stand out, catchy melody, I felt the one in track 6 was both refreshing and a relief. I was like, FINALLY!!! It stood out from almost everything else and I wish there was more of that. I also like the melody 3:50 into All Channels Open, but it lasts too short. When I hear an album with so few melodies, the few musical part tend to stand out more...and maybe even sound better than they actually are because ppl who love melodies are greatful when they finally hear some.
  8. Yes. My favorite track is The Poisonous Square also, and I agree that it's a great song and for me, (and some others as well) the best song on the album! I wish there was more variety in the songs. Some sound similar, a beat and bassline with tons of squeeky and psy-sounds all over the place. Wow, that's my problem too! I said something similar in my first post on page 1 of this thread. In Poisonous Square, for example... there is a KILLER, and/or *wicked* melody that comes ripping through the song about 2:29 minutes or so into it... (everyone here knows what I'm talking about) ... only to last no more than 30 seconds, if that! ... Sure the song remains good (from great in my opinion, where it was) ... but I waited in excitement for that super melody to return. It was so catchy and yet too short, unless they somehow incorporated it into the song again before the track ended...and it doesn't return, not even once and for me that MELODY was both GREAT and the best part of the song, and that song is the BEST one on the album IMHO. It stood out in an album filled with an enormous amount of psychelelic sounds. I like the album, but I get tired or overwhelmed after a while without some kickass melodies and dynamics to give the songs more songs. There are so few melodies (super melodies) on the album... and Derango is great making them. It would have been nice had they let the few great melodies appear again, and I would love if they put more focus on their kickass melodies in their next album.
  9. Yes, Amethystium is how it's spelt and it's New Age, not goa, psytrance or trance. I own all of their albums and EP's. They're pretty good, uplifting. If you like that, check out PHOBOS. The album name is the same as the artist name... PHOBOS. Impressive for New Age music... Dark Full On? The best dark full on album I have ever heard to date is SPACE MONKEY: PSYCHOTIC EPISODE.
  10. Escape From Tulse Hell (Tripswitch Remix) is a pretty good song too. It's available on the WIDER HORIZENS comp which released in 2003. Keep an eye out for that one.
  11. BEST PSYCHAOS SONGS: KEYBOARD WIDOW ... GREAT SONG! This may be my most favorite song by them! SOUNDBEAMS ... Yeeaaah. I really like those melodies and rhythm (!) INTELLECT ... Another very good/great goatrance song by them. Nice melodies, cool sample, etc.. SCIENCE FICTION ... Good intro. Another very cool, energetic, and melodic song with interesting samples and kickass goatrance feel and melodies! CHAOS TO ORDER ... One of their harder, more aggressive, chaotic (hence the name) tracks. It start great with the beat and all. Catchy! I find this track gets a bit repetitive after the first 2-3 minutes. This is good, yes, and many people seem to favor it the most on this thread. I feel there are several tracks as good if not better by them. This song definitely stands out though. It's badass. I like it. PERCEPTION OF REALITY ... Very cool. Maybe not their best, but certainly one of their better if not best tracks. This ones more goatrance than psytrance. Damn them for always having a good sample! Others worth mentioning: ACIDICA SONIC CHEMIST MAD LANE I have not yet heard: DENSE DAWN PSYCHOCHEMICAL AGE Future Rocks They Tried to Grab Us Trying to download them so I can finally listen to them and see if they're worth posting. Hmmm...Psychaos has always been a group best known for their singles. They seem to make almost every one of their singles really count and kickass... it's too bad that their Cause and Effect (only main album??!) was not much more than several good/great songs because their older style was very good. There was something very CATCHY and COOL about their dark, aggressive style and psytrance. While some of their music seems to be psytrance, some of their songs definitely sound like goatrance, well, because they fucking are I presume! Samples to most if not tall PSYCHAOS songs: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/show_ar...p?artist_id=184
  12. Those last several posts on the Filteria: Heliopolis review thread aren't even reviews. Just read them... I don't understand why they don't just post their thoughts or comments here in the general forums before they go stacking up thoughts and impressions in the review thread, ya know? It kinda makes it difficult for the average ready to distinguish between those who heard the entire album and those who just heard the samples and are posting thoughts on that. For example, this taken from the Filteria: Heliopolis review thread: Ummm yeah, could that not have been placed here?? Heliopolis is still fairly new. I don't think many people have gotten it yet. At www.psyshop.com the shipping seems to go down if you order 2-3 albums in place of just one album. Check it out sometime.
  13. Oh, when I read that above I assumed you heard this track so it was released. So this album by Ka Sol...will this be all singles already released and put together on a main album? Or does this KA SOL album have all new, exclusive tracks on it by the artist... or some old and new ones combined?
  14. I never knew CROP CIRCLES made an album or their songs were remixed on a comp of sorts. I've seen several of their tracks on various comps at saikosounds but that's it. I wish they released an album of their singles like a main album. That would have been great! Does anyone know the name of that thread with draekes post? I'm very interesting in hearing their other songs.
  15. Oh... Nice. The old goatrance reviews section. Yes! Thank antic! I'm gonna start reading these right now!
  16. OTT - BLUMENKRAFT 2003 TWISTED RECORDS What in God's great ass crack ever happened to the 2003 review thread for OTT - Blumenkraft??! This one: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/twi/twi1cd025.html I can't find one anywhere! I clearly remember some of you people discussing this album on multiple threads back over the last several years. It's like downtempo/dub/chill/trance music, more dub than trance, more downtempo than chill... Splitting An Atom is hands down the best track on the album I feel. It's so well done and to me this song is in a higher league when compared to the others. That song is catchy man!, its got lots of creativity, feeling...warmth.... catchy tunes, voices, melodies, it seems heavily world-influenced. It's overall very well crafted and fun to listen to!! I get bored while listening to the first two tracks compared to the third one which has so much more color, character, and energy. Grrrrrr!!! hehe, if this artist could create more songs like Spitting An Atom on his next album... he's bound to sell more copies and gain more attention than he did with this album. Okay, the track Billy the Kid and the final track, Smoked Glass And Chrome are both well done. They also stands out as being more animated, melodic, and catchy. I don't care for the slower, more repetitive dub ones at all. And does anyone know when OTT is coming out with a follow-up? I vaguely remember reading 2006 somewhere on these forums some time ago. Longer samples below: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=3309
  17. I see what your getting out. I don't think AP or MFG were ever exactly copycats of each other. I just noticed some coincedences or similarities, hence the footsteps comment which is subjective obviously anyway. I always felt MFG was inspired by AP in the beginning, but they developed alot of originality from these inspirations and became great in my eyes. There probably is no correlation between the music AP makes and MFG not doing MFG albums for some time anyway, fine. I simply remember around one year apart, (2000-2001) both MFG and AP released a main album that I found disappointing in compaison to their earlier main albums. I'm not saying either one followed the other in this, I simply wish they both made goatrance after the 1998-1999 times of Project Genesis and Another World. For me, both artists never returned to making an awesome main album since. Yes, Amen released well after The Message, I meant the other way around again. As far as me saying MFG dissapeared goes...Yes, I suppose it would have sounded better to say nearly 5 years passed with no MFG album, until now. As far as these artists family and beliefs goes... you know more about that. Like most listeners, I draw a perspective mainly from whats released, their music, and so if several years pass like they did after Project Genesis, I started to wonder if they were done with MFG albums since they had released an album once a year (each year for 3 years) prior to that. In short, some of what I wrote above should have been more carefully thought out. You know more about MFG obviously. Do you know when their new album is supposed to release this month? Someone said Febuary but they didn't elaborate?. I can't fiind anything on saikosounds or psyshop and I'm looking forward to hearing this in its entirety.
  18. Some of you obviously know how good/great MFG's first several albums were. My thoughts: The Prophecy - (1996) - Very good, a solid debut. Some impressive work! New Kind of World - (1997) - I thought was pretty good. It seems to go back to their more uplifting or not darker goatrance, however it seems to be a bit too focused on being dance-friendly. My complaint always was the kickdrum being dropped so very soon into almost every song, because it seemed to ignore the parts for those interesting intros. A good amount of fans seemed to like this one the most overall. Project Genesis (1998) - is my favorite album by MFG. I thought it was great! The darker goatrance approach I found intriging and super cool. The track WHY is unforgettable. The only thing I didn't care for was the ripped-off Independence Day album cover. Nonetheless, it's the music that counts. The Message - (2001) - Pretty good I thought. More fans in general seemed to be a bit disappointed with this one over their previous three. I actually liked it more than New Kind of World for some reason but not over Project and Prophecy. After that: Nearly 5 years pass with no MFG album, until now. Based on their 4 long samples from their 2006 album: For the future of man-kind I like. I actually like it the most from their samples so far. It's nothing spectacular or great to me, but I like those melodies... When the voice says.. "For the future of Man-kind," those melodies are catchy, cool,yes... I so hope the album will improve with the next couple tracks I haven't heard or didn't hear enough of. In search of truth sounds pretty cool I think, but a bit repetitive to me. MFG was always great with melodies and I like parts here. It's not goatrance anymore though. I prefer their psychedelic, goatrance over this full-on psytrance, but it's not bad. I think it's actually better than most full-on sounding stuff out there. However, for an MFG song I was looking for something more impressive. Positive Energy: Are you serious?! That's it?! I PRAY there are some really good/great tracks (at leasta one or two super-songs) on this 5th album because I'm so far NOT impressed. This track isn't terrible, there's a part that repeats that picks up with with more aggression, but not much else happens. This was the entire track download I heard in it's entirety several times, and I find it BORING. If Positive Energy is track 4... ...MFG usually puts their best tracks in the middle. I could be wrong, but track 4 doesn't seem like the best spot to put a weak or not great song unless this is one of their best new songs. In that case, I have a feeling it won't be a bad album, just one that isn't nearly as good as the previous ones and one that probably could have been better with some more time and work. Oh well... Enlightment - Another decent track. When the music stops it gets more interesting, like where will the song go next... cool transition, although it doesn't seem to go anywhere great IMO, I think it gets pretty good with those melodies, chimes, tunes, etc...all blending and flowing together quite nicely. Overall, I'm surprised if this is considered good/great by them after all these years of silence, no releases, but it's not bad, especially compared to most FULL ON out there. C'mon MFG! Is it impossible for you to make some super intricate, imaginative, spacey, roller coaster, energy-charged goa-inflenced psytrance like you did back in the day?? We're your fans here since 1996! This is their first album in like 6 years and so far it isn't exactly what I hoped for. But after what happened with AP, I'm not shocked. Maybe MFG just can't make aweosme or amazing tracks anymore. An example of a super-song is "WHY" on Project Genesis. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to hearing this entire album. I hope these songs aren't their best new tracks and if they are, well, what can anyone really do anymore.
  19. Oops. I suppose you've never made a mistake. It's been years since I listened to these MFG albums and I just switched those two to the right order above. There are cooler/nicer ways to inform someone if they've made a mistake. Thanks for correcting me.
  20. Some of you obviously know how good/great MFG's first several albums were. My thoughts: The Prophecy - (1996) - Very good, a solid debut. Some impressive work! I actually liked it more than New Kind of World for some reason but not over Project and Prophecy. After that: MFG seemed to stop doing music around the same time Astral Projection stopped doing the great goatrance stuff. Why do they seem to follow AP's foot-steps, I never quite understood that. Their cover on their 4th album was no longer colorful or psychedelic, just like AP's AMEN album. Anyway, AP goes and makes club trance and MFG seems to disappear, until now. Based on their 4 long samples from their 2006 album: For the future of man-kind I like. I actually like it the most from their samples so far. It's nothing spectacular or great to me, but I like those melodies... When the voice says.. "For the future of Man-kind," those melodies are catchy, cool,yes... Overall, I'm surprised if this is considered good by them after all these years of silence, no releases. C'mon guys! Is it impossible for you to make some intricate, imaginative, energy-charged goa-inflenced psytrance anymore? Let's hear some great music. We're your fans here since 1996! This is their first album in like 6 years and so far it sounds pretty typical. But after what happened with AP, I'm not shocked. Maybe MFG just can't make aweosme music anymore. I hope they're these aren't their best new tracks.
  21. It says Terminator just released a new album on psyshop. Do people know this was his final main album if he did pass away? http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/dej/dej1cd018.html And what's going on with psytrance artists dying lately? Do we simply not hear about it in general? I just read that one of the guys of PHI passed away on the 2004 review boards for Phi - Phinalizer album. (read end of page 1) Before that, wasn't it Cosma in some motorcycle accident off the coast of Goa I read on this same site like around 2004 I think.
  22. This is like a Jesus question right? Have you ever touched Simon Postford is next. Oh boy.
  23. Oh no. This accident you speak of sounds oddly familiar to how the artist Cosma (?) died. Someone talked about that around 2-3 years ago on these same forums I think it was. As far as this album goes.. I don't think it's THAT good overall...surely not what any artist wants to probably hear after one of his buddies passed away unfortunately. However, the opening track Henro IS good. There are several other pretty good tracks, those being Ganja Of It All[/i], and I enjoy Afrobad. I kinda like the last track too, but not enough for me to consider it good. It takes too long to drop that melody. I suppose they could have done more with it but it's still cool. Nothing seems close to Henro, which is ashame because once you hear the first song on the album, you expect more knowing Phi can do good stuff. It would probably be only a good thing if Phi made a follow up album with tracks as good as the few mentioned, if not better, and add at least two or three real super-songs that go into excellence or being amazing sounding if that's possible, that would probably really push them up into the more popular, known realms of psytrance. Much of Phinalizer sounds boring to me, and yet tracks like Henro clearly stand out as being well done and better than the rest. It seems others agree too. Phinalizer has too many so-so, forgettable tracks. As with many other people, I can't buy any album with only two-three good songs. Some listeners on this page alone seem to agree on which tracks are the better ones... so if these artists are aware of whats considered good, and capitalize on that, make it great, take risks, change up their basslines more, get more imaginative, psychedelic, melodies, sounds, depth, creativity, etc... I'd be interested in hearing what they have to offer. As far as Phi gos, their work would wbe better on a comp unless thy can make high higher quanitity of very cool and overall likable songs like Henro.
  24. RAH dude, if you're talking about me, my first post is not a review on page 1. Please read again. What I wrote simply is my thoughts, comments, and feelings on the new album. There is no grade, score(s), or even track synopsis for each song, or anything like that. I simply wrote more than the others on this thread. I'd never post a review unless I've heard the entire album at least two times. I believe exactly that.
