Heh I hated his first album. It sounded like he taken a whole heap of synths and put them in a blender. My ears did not appreciate the result. However the new album is great. Sounds alot more polished. I really like the new album.

Pretty much anything from Blue Vortex does me nicely.

I just wanted some opinions on how people go about creating their own sounds? Say you have a particular sound in mind that you want to create, where do you start? Do you setup your envelopes and filters first and then try different waveforms until you get the sound you want? Or do you get a waveform you want and then shape it into the sound you want by adding envelopes filters etc?

Thanks guys thats really shed some light on the subject. I think i understand them now. I havnt used compressors in the past becuase i didnt understand them. Ive got a good idea now as to when they should be used and how. Thanks for the info.

What do compressors do and why should you use them? I hear everyone always talk about how you should compress your sounds, but i dont really know why? From what i can tell compressors normalise frequencies? Anyone want to clarify this?

I find any music with a beat too offputting. I cant help but get into the same rhythm as the music at which point it becomes distracting. So if any music is to be present, it has to be ambient or the like.

Just thought id ask what VST's people really like. Ive just recentlly aquired Absynth and Novation Bass-Station and am really enjoying those.

Cant wait for this album. I heard Simon play some of the new stuff at Earthcore and we are all in for a treat.

No doubt about it. Hallucinogen sunrise set at Earthcore last year with fork lightning crashing all around (on the back of Infected Mushrooms set). I was totally blown away by Simons crowd mastery, his ability to play the crowd like they were an instrument. More than once i found myself lost in the dance and slowly coming back to reality at which point i would look around and see everyone staring off into nothingness in their own private trips. Then the beat picks up and everyone simultaneously snaps to and starts the dance again. Absolute mastery of his art. And ill be seeing him back there in just over a week.!!!
