The tantrance series is pretty renowed. You might wanna check also dragonfly's Order Odonata series, Trust in Trance's Goa Vibes series Trust in Trance's Psychedelic Vibes series, TIP's colour series (more expensive and collectors item) TIP Singles series Can't really say which one I like best. Besides I don't have any of those series complete. I like TIT's series quite a lot though. Don't they all just contain the same and its just a question of which to pick? Destination Goa does not carry the same magic though. It sounds more directed towards the mainstram audience. Perhaps the success of the series bears witness to this

I agree it doesn't have to express transcendental or philosophical thoughts or anything. On the other hand, it has occasionally expressed such thoughts to me. And I doubt that will ever happer for me while listening to Tim Leary! (It is Tim Leary, right? I think he's in there on Synergy too. And Contact). I actually just listened to a couple of tracks from the album again. Yeah, some of the music is quite alright. I just can't get past those samples. Damn shame. Some of it could go all the way to 4/5, but the samples ruin my concentration and I know pretty sure it would be the same at a festival. So yeah, the samples are important for me. Do you know Talpa The art of being non? Hate the album but there is one track "people are animals" on it. I LUV that track just because of the sample in the beginning. It's just amazing. And it's this that makes me love the track. Stupid, maybe, but can't help it

Haha, hi there Artur. Yeah, I like Monty Python. Some of it a lot but you have to admit that Monty is way more intelligent than the samples on Cosmosis, huh Or maybe you don't agree? Anyhow, I simply can't see what a funny sample has to do in trance if it's not doing anything else than wanting to be funny. I don't get it. But off course one might counter ask why "cool" samples, say, from Fear and loathing in las vegas are acceptable? Well, I think maybe they are somewhat more in line with the general idea of the music. And often these samples just poses sentences that works like questions, and when done good they work to me. Though I also hear stupid "cool" samples. Can't recall tracks right now, but stuff in techno like "the world" and shit. wtf !!! I'm afraid this album doesn't make it higher than 2/5 on Skelly's list. It just really doesn't get to me, but I'm more of a proggy fella so ... Different strokes for different folks.

Trance fundamentalist hehe I don't think I'm a fundamentalist, BUT I KNOW WHAT I LIKE AND THAT'S NOT GANNA CHANGE !!! Just kidding. No, I don't mind funny samples, but they have to mean something. If they're funny just to explicit stupidity they annoy me. Like Ticon naming one track "chicken shaker". Unless that means something what's the point? And as far as Cosmosis, he's used funny samples more than once. And I never find them funny, only utterly lame. Why do I want to hear Tim Leary for the 1 billionth time in a Cosmosis track? WHY ? Because I dance and then need to laugh? If you want to add humour, fine, but I think it needs to be done intelligently so it adds a dimension to the music. I think that's the problem with Cosmosis. From his music I gather he's a very nice guy all about entertaining and good mood, and that fucks up his music when he looses sight of what matters. Oh well, I'm not a big fan of bill. Liked some of the earlier stuff, but he's never been unkeen to cheese and so never have gotten very close to my heart. Though track 2 and 3 on Synergy rocks BIG TIME. But Human Evolution on Contact ... ... In some countries they apply capital punishment for such tracks. Which is all fair and square if you ask Skelly ... nuff said.

I didn't mean that they sounded the same. Just that I didn't know what to make of Tumult. Well, I didn't really like it but knew I had to give it chances, since so many people has acclaimed it. And it was nominated, what, no 3 best album of 2005. Not that that matters, but it means many dedicated psy trancers like it. And I couldn't figure out how to like ! Then coincidentally I heard all of Irritant and it made me wanna hear Derango. It felt like a natural next, dark step. Is all. Derango just felt like Irritant fucked in the ass. Though you are right too. I don't know much about dark psy and I prefer it more melodic. Actually progressive is more me. Anyway. 'preciate the feedback

This is Skelly's two cents taken from discogs. Well, awaiting approval there ... fuck them muthafucks In the words of Armand van Helden bluntly remarking about Basement Jaxx that "they took house music and fucked it in the ass" so one may say about Derango: They took X-Dream's Irritant at its darkest hour and fucked it in the ass! Sweet love of Jesus, this is some twisted psytrance from the Swedish forests and I will admit it took me a while to get under my, well, bones. But rehearing X-Dream's Irritant gave me an idea how to approach this album. This is dark, as in PITCH DARK, psy. No melodies, no calming breaks, no themes. Just a monotone bass most of the time staying on one note (!) with a shitload of FX and weird sounds. What saves it is the impeccable production, the energy, and the incredible amount of ideas Derango's managed to cramp into the tracks. The genre may be challenging, but if you give it a chance you won't be able to claim nothing's happening! This is one long string of musical ideas on top of an endless deep bass journey. So, if you want it DARK this is as dark as it got in 2005. If you are not familiar with this type of trance, you are headed for a big challenge. Hell, you may very well even consider trashing this album as the worst piece of crap you've ever purchased. Don't do that! It takes time to let in, but if you work hard enough the rewards will be there. After all, this album didn't receive tons of rave reviews elsewhere on the internet for nothing. And even if I myself may not have reached Nirvana quite yet with Derango, the general idea of forest trance sure is starting to get to my bones ).

Haha. Funny with the reviews above ... This is a copy of my discogs review. Recognize how when you witness something overly happy, it can come across as dark and scary? A couple of years ago I visited Stockholm right before x-mas with a girlfriend and one night we happened to check out the window decorations in one of the malls. It was these huge x-mas decorations with deers and trolls and elfs, dworfs and shit. All frozen in ear to ear smiles, with big eyes shaking the jingle bells and rocking forth and back. All the time smiling like maniacs. It didn't take two seconds before we agreed these decorations were shit scary! This somewhat describes my approach to Wizzy Noise. Their full on type music may come across as cheesy with the seemingly easy effects they use and the general arrangement of the tracks. But ever for a brief moment find an interval border cheesy and the Wizzy boys' reply will be to repeat it. That's when their music escapes any hits on the cheesy o'meter. Just when you may think things are approaching cheeziness, you just gotta go one level deeper and the smily faces are off again. Yeah, the Wizzy boys have perfected this recipe and all the tracks here are more or less built around the same formular. A solid theme towards the end and one hell of a kick ass full on motherfucker of a ride to get there! And I love nearly every second of it. They should have left out the insane baby whining on Baby Helikon, though. Well, perhaps I just haven't dug deep enough yet, but in all honesty I doubt that ... ;o). But definitely another strong full on Wizzy style album here. And if you like it be sure also to check out Sabotage Part I and Elecktro Theater. These follow the same path of thoughts.

Yeah, exactly. It's great fun to write these reviews. It's almost a drug to me now. Don't really feel I know an album in my heart if I haven't reviewed it yet. Well, that's not quite true, but, you know ... Well, my collection isn't enormous. Compared to your average person it's huge. Compared to the psy cravers here it's small But I'm adding as I see see things pop up I can afford. And then I try to review them when I've gotten them under my skin. Sometimes that goes fast (like with this one. Pretty soon I knew how I felt about it). Other times it takes time. Haven't figured out, for instance, how to critic Derango Tumult yet. But yeah, put it on discogs! I mean I read my review and then yours and they suit each other really well I think. Not that that matters (and it won't when the discogs mods are approving the reviews I think) but it's a good review you did anyway. Well, just a suggestion. Besides I love to see the Skelly initals all over discogs ...

I woke up this morning somewhat stoned and wanted to see if it would be possible to rejuvenate yesterday's high by putting some goa-trance back on. A hair of the dog that bit me, as Jack Nicholson says to bartender Jeeves in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". My choice for the experiment became this newly acquired 1998 compilation out on High Society. So how is the experiment working out? Well, the deciding factor for me to order this cd was the inclusion of X-Dream's remix of E-Rection's Out Here We Are Stoned and this collaboration doesn't let me down. Melodic, aggressive, and psychedelic, all at once, and with the sample on top to laugh your ass off to. Classic X-Dream material. Besides this some other tracks that comes to mind are Bodh Gaya's Dream Machine and Paradise Connection's (Boris Blenn aka Electric Universe) Synthadelic Glide. Closing track Cloned by Drop & Dash ain't bad either. Besides these, however, this isn't going to be my favourite compilation. A little unimaginative, perhaps, this just sounds like stuff I've heard dozens of times elsewhere, and the tracks have a hard time grabbing me. So, overall, how did the experiment work out? Well, I'd still say it's possible to press the pause button, pick up the trance stik where it was left, and bring back yesterday's high. Even if not all the tracks here spin me right back into orbit, there are no far fetched fillers. And perhaps a track like Akasha Projekt's 10 minutes+ long Smiling Doors is nothing but a big challenge. You have to be cool to get it and, well, you know how that might be a little easier the night before ... ;o)! Anyway, even if all the tracks here don't work maybe I just need to play something else! Enjoy.

I know him as quality full-on music style dj, but Tristan really is a lot more. On the trip on this compilation Tristan treats us full-on, housey vibes, and a little psychedelia border musica. Pleasently smoothly nice, indeed, and this time around he's mixing it as one long journey. So how are we flying? Well, some strong tracks loom around here. I especially like Dickster's Beloved Icream, Allaby's Spiritually Correct, and Aphid Moon's Head Candy. But You might choose otherwise, cause I hear no fillers or any "let's-get-on-our-first-compilation" material. Were flying in a nice high. Hmm, if I should add one sinister point here, it might be the mixing. This is sub par and maybe Tristan would have done better without. Listen to the mix between track 1 and 2, or 8 and 9, for instance, and you'll know what I mean. On the other hand, if the mixing weren't there, this'd be a different trip ;o) My Monkey Business is your Monkey Business! (edit: That's track 9 for ya and quite appealing ....... )
