  1. I wasn't referring to sensitivity, but range and detail. This is interesting though. A totally non-scientific and personal example is that most of my male friends into Metal pay great attention to the technical aspects of the music while the females tend to focus on lyrics and lead-melodies. Anyone else noticed this? EDIT: The fact that there's no mention of females having superior hearing probably means that it's the other way around. That's how political-correctness works in contemporary science lol.
  2. Thanks. Did you mean this one? - Pioneers of Goa Trance
  3. Don't ever trust a new group when it comes to originality Here's another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_0JftWlyf4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7xLz15Nvnk
  4. Absolutely anything goes. It's just that I primarily know of original Synth scores. There's a lot of films from the 90's full of electronic tracks, but it's mostly a collection of tracks instead a complete soundtrack written specifically for the film(s). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J82gFhtMdmE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ivx1hcdz5U
  5. No I'm not actually. I haven't seen the movie either. I'd have to look into that asap. Some of Michael Mann's soundtracks are awesome if you're into Synth music. Thief, Manhunter and The Keep by Tangerine Dream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXwnEFssys8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elf0S0FOm1s
  6. I'm looking for Electronic soundtracks. Both classic and obscure. Stuff like Vangelis's Blade Runner soundtrack, early Tangerine Dream soundtracks, Coil's original soundtrack for Hellraiser etc. Doesn't have to be Science Fiction related (though it doesn't hurt). Bring it on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAxGuVHCN3o
  7. Pink Floyd is a little too proto-proto, but thanks for the KLF recommendation.
  8. I'm looking for early Psy/Goa albums that have that Acid/Techno feel. Juno's Transmissions and Koxbox's debut are obvious examples. Thank you.
  9. I heard a long radio program about hearing, and the female ear is apparently a lot more "limited" than the male ear. That doesn't go for all women of course, but quite a lot of them. They said that was one of the reasons why there are so few female music producers etc. I tried to find a link, but couldn't. I'll try and see if I can come up with something later.
  10. That's true. But the end of Errorhead is one of my favorite melodic pieces of all time. Transcendental.
  11. Mandatory reading for every Psynews member.
  12. I still like the Errorhead track A LOT. Do you think it sounds dated now?
  13. I'm a huge fan of Cryptic Crunch. It's on my top 10 of best Psy albums of all time. I have however to my own great disappointment never been able to get into Division By Zero. Is that because the main songwriters/artistic-visionaries went on to form Logic Bomb? I'm asking this because I have a really hard time hearing anything sounding even remotely Hux Flux-like on Division.
  14. I just bought Juno Reactor's Beyond The Infinite (yellow CD) and Transmissions (first press on Novamute) for something like 5 bucks each. Both in perfect condition. I thought that was a pretty sweet deal.
  15. I once sold a CD for 546 bucks on Ebay. I bought it myself for 4. That's probably the best deal I've ever made. It wasn't a Trance CD though.
  16. I think I after thorough consideration agree on GMS. I'm listening to Chaos Laboratory right as I'm writing this, and while it isn't bad by any means, it - to me - no longer holds the same magic it once did. Acts like Koxbox on the other hand seem to age like fine wine.
  17. Really good interview. I'd like to double-recommend this to those who didn't hit the link.
  18. I'm actually amazed that OOP Trance isn't more expensive. The interest must be at an all-time low right now. Maybe it's because people intro electronic music tend to DL more. It's pretty common that rare Metal CD's go for more than a 100 bucks. Even up to a 1000 on rare occasions.
  19. Incredible quantities of good stuff out there. It's crazy. I can't believe those who bitch and moan about the current state of the scene. All you have to do is to dig a little deeper and you'll be graced with another shiny diamond. Obviously.
  20. Ubar Tmar's True album is absolutely mindblowing! Listening to it right now. You wouldn't consider KURO essential?
  21. Lot's of Japanese and Aussie stuff. Two scenes I have very limited knowledge about. I'd like to know my Koxboxes and Pleiadians of those scenes. Could you write me a little list with the highest regarded artists/labels or link me to a site with some info? That would be GREAT.
