  1. Nice post mate!!!. Replace 'Psytrance' with 'Psychedelia' or 'Psychedelic Music' in general and I fully agree
  2. Yes . It's Track 6 - The Poisonous Square from Derango - Tumult album. Personally I think that the title 'The poisonous square' is a reference to blotters hehe
  3. I agree. ' Let's all take some mescaline' sample is sort of bad too, although funny
  4. 'When I leave.. don't follow...." Biosphere.. The intro sample from Derango - The Poisonous Square... trippy “You have to wake up, there's-- What is it? What's wrong? There's something here. Do you see anything? You're probably just dreaming or some…Whoa! There is-- there is something! What the hell is that? What do you see? It's a square. It's just floating. Now there's two - it's multiplying! Maybe that's what a four-dimensional object looks like?…I hate it. It sounds wrong… It's stunning! The math of it - it's a perfect quadrangular oscillation!”
  5. Maxx in fact I like the matrix wonderland sample used in many tracks.. You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. (a red pill is shown in his other hand) You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. whole quote is like: And of course , Scatterbrain - Mexican Jesus Yeah, sort of reminds me of a time in Montana. It was 31st of December 1994 when I saw the Mexican Jesus floating down the river. Yellowstone National Park. I think it was like minus twenty degrees in the snow and he was floating down butt naked. I don't think he was Native American, he seemed too Mexican looking you know. He had long black hair and he was butt naked in the middle of the Yellowstone River. Minus twenty. And we'd put our head under the water and come up and we turned our eyes and he didn't have a [...] of ice on his hand, nothing. He was completely immune to the cold. And eh, which reminds me about the ayahuasca experience you know meeting the Mother Serpent. I don't think anybody really could, err... How to describe it? It was totally mind numbing. Just taking it, and waiting and that first time you take it, the suddenly you feel like you've got these vines running through your body. They were [...] ripping through your body. And that bright light burning you up from the inside. Next thing you know, you've got a Mother Serpent inside you. And the next minute you're down there, with the DNA watching the dino. Genetic material getting changed before your eyes. Man, people think they know about drugs, but... That ain't a drug, it's a sacrament. It's just a portal to another world. It's realities that are always there. A key to other dimensions That we live with them all the time. Thankfully our awareness never touches... How would I describe it? Terrifying. Enlightening. But utterly terrifying. You swear you'll never go back. Ever. And the next thing you know, you're taking it again. You're going down that tunnel. People say you have a choice. I don't think there's any choice. Ayahuasca just takes you. No choice. You surrender or you resist. Resist or inhale. You surrender, you must be free. I don't know if I could do that again. And the Mother Goddess calls me, the cosmic circuit calls. I have to answer. And I have to go back to the [...] I have no choice. I have no choice. It's not a drug, it's... It's not a drug. It's just the holy sacrament.
  6. "I've lost my mind.. There's no question about it" "We lost it... We lost the signal" "Unsane, beyond sanity... yet not insane... " "ALALA"
  7. When it comes to ambient even music from the 80s/90s still sounds incredible today. Of course i wasn't listening to this music since the 80s. Anyways, time will tell.
  8. Nice review Jon Cocco.. I think the album has grew on me since first listen , but indeed a few tracks sound a bit weaker than the rest... Personally I like both the night/dark as well as the day/light/goa parts of the album
  9. heheh Personally I agree I agree psychedelic is very subjective/personal.. As agia_igoumeni said and I fully agree psychedelia is a state of mind.. for a lot of people Pink Floyd, Jimmy Hendrix or beatles etc are psychedelic music.. Others consider ambient/IDM very trippy and/or psychedelic as well. A few years ago I was listening to nitzonot music, that was what was labeled as 'psychedelic' in greece.. But I didn't feel almost any psychedelia with 90% of the tracks there.. Just hard/fast dance music for kids on Es IMO.Cheap-sounding rave music for the most of it, except of a few tracks that maybe resembled goa a bit more and were not that cheezy and cheap. At that time I listened to some prana and juno reactor, and laters a friend gave me various cd with Astral Projection, MFG , California Sunshine, etc and I moved on.. As I've discovered several more electronica music genres, I personally think that a lot of ambient/chill/IDM albums can be at least equally, or even more psychedelic and trippy [ In my opinion of course, needless to say]. So yes, if what's labeled as 'forest psy' is psychedelic to A LOT of people[and NOT only newcommers or newbies, but people with many years in the scene that have lived old-school psychedelic parties/festivals etc so they do have some experience] can feel psychedelia with that music it's definitely psychedelic. I know it is for me. Now , when will we listen to a Kasol & Derango live acts in a trippy swedish forest and then get lost deep in the heart of the forest?
  10. hmm not really but I like some of their stuff a lot.
  11. I don't there an objective opinion.. hehe Anyways I think it's really good. Check for yourself. This album is composed of half night, darker tracks, and half more melodic and goa-ish ones.
  12. If you like mechanical hypnotic ambient soundscapes you might like it anyways give it a chance. I don't play if very often, maybe once in two months or something... I think this track was supposed to be music for a painting exhibition.
  13. Yeap, there are certainly melodic patterns Also there are some clear melodies at certain parts, e.g boomorgon RMX or secret surroundings etc.
  14. Ka-Sol - Fairytale np Ka-Sol - White Magic
  15. Derango, I might understand, but are you sure you haven't found any melodies in KaSol ? give it a try. But not by saying to yourself 'it sux it sux it sux' when listening to it
  16. So it's not that randomness/weird sounds that put you off, if you can listen to IDM such Apparat or Richard Devine or Autechre etc etc I also would not call Derango e.g random. There are certainly patterns followed their and some melodic parts too. about KaSol - Fairytale album.. some tracks are pretty much psychedelic goa[the 'light' part of the album].. Personally I enjoy the whole album. It's neither full-on nor 150+BMP madness. it's around the 140 area.. I would also like to hear your opinion on Schlabbaduerst Rekkords 6 , the chill/downtempo album...
  17. Not really that dark, very nice album indeed though
  18. Masaray - Cosmic Trancer (Buddha Mix)
  19. Richard Devine - Asect Desect [2003]
  20. Ambient = merely beatless for me. I know the Astralasia release, personally I would classify this as chill/ambient/downtempo or something.. Luciana is ambient, dark ambient precisely. Lots of cinematic soundtracks are ambient-like too.
  21. I understand your opinion though if you are not very familiar with ambient..
