    Forest?

Ok...."chilly downtempo" is not psy in my book. Ambient could be classified as being very atmospheric and slow, so maybe thats the wrong term if one wants to knit-pick. I would call Shopngle chill-out really....anyway....whatever it is it would be a certain party killer (not killaaarghhh) under any circumstances.
  2. Oh...really now....I didn't know that Well...let's hope is banned again soon.
  3. Tips???? More like paranoia bullshit and racist remarks. He was an total mindless wanker and this forum is 100 times better without complete morons like him.

    Forest?

Again....I think you need to actually visit a party in the deep forest with "raving mad psy forest music" to get the connection. It's not that it sounds like the forest, but it's nice music to party with your friends in the forest...understand the difference? And Shpongle is ambient, not psy. Any DJ that would put on Shpongle on any psy party I've been would be forcefully removed from the DJ box instantly. That it makes you think about the forest when you put it on in the hi-fi in your apartement is fine, and I can understand that. It's forest music for you. For people who actually goes into the forest with a big PA to party with their friends forest music is something else. Can you understand that?

    Forest?

Cinos....you should really go to some parties and experience trance music in the setting it was created for before you try to elevate yourself thinking you have an educated opinion on the matter. Some people like psychedelic dancing events in the nature instead of sitting at home worshipping shpongle. And it's simply not the same music that fits in the forest compared to a club or warehouse. Same as there is not the same music appropiate under the moonlight as when the sun is up. Why not make a ambient party in the forest if thats what you think is appropiate? I'm sure it would be a hit if people managed to stay awake
  6. @amphiton No...I don't recall putting any E-Mantra track in that mix. As for recommendations I don't know really. Many of the tracks is available on www.resonantearth.com There is also a few from the "Wild Rumpus" compilation. For other music is a similar style....I really don't know that much that is released. I find it very hard to find decent music on Albums/Compilations...most of it is too much stylized and formularic. At least from what I have been listening thru...which was quite much in the summer preparing for a couple of sets. So sorry I can not be of more help....I really wish that there was loads of music I could recommend

    Forest?

The terms "night" and "forest" is derived from the time and place when music works in a party. I guess to understand the definition you would need to actually attend to parties and get a feel of what fits when and hence why the terms is used.
  8. Prepare Your Spirit is the one not to miss IMO. The real original Goa sound.....it was the bomb 1992 and maybe it's my nostalgia, but I always get in a state of euphoria when I put it on nowadays.
  9. Ok...there it's said that it's based on "net income" which makes it sound a lot more reasonable than profit. So I guess it would be what you get in from the distributor/customer minus taxes when it comes to CD's? Once again. I'm not complaining. Since it does seem to be based on income it's indeed a quite fair deal. I just thought it's a very big difference between profit and net income and thought it seems good for both you and the artists to be aware of that.
  10. I cannot at all get the logic in that the artists would make less commercial music if people bought more music. It might make sense if you think that most successful trance producers is happy with the average salary they can get out of producing. Also if they are actually making a living out of it they might be very concerned with trying to keep doing that. Most people have a little bit of greed and need for security. The more business that is involved the more commercial it gets. Just look what bands in this scene that really turned into making obviously commercial stuff....it's usually the few that actually did manage to make a living out of it to start with. It comes down to that it's a whole lot easier to do exactly what you want if that means that you get $0 instead of $0. If it could mean that you get $10 000 instead of $50 000 it might easily affect your creativity and what path you choose, hence many start adopting to the market when the get some releases and turn commercial. And if there is money involved you get managers, PR people etc involved, which will put pressure on you to do what you have to do in any other business...adapt to the demands of the market. So...the more you buy the more commercial the scene gets for sure. Sure, invest in the scene to help fuel it, but don't pour the money into the hands of a few shops, distributors and labels. Throw a free party sometimes, make chai and give to people for free or buy fire juggling equipment and put on a show. Or send some money to the artists with paypal. Buying a CD is not giving many cents back to the scene and is really a crap way to try to contribute.
  11. Did I read that correctly? 60% of profit from download sales, and 40% of profit on CD sales?? Thats fairly low figures I would say. If that was what you meant I guess you do show the artists all the figures when it comes to your expenses? If I may ask...why don't you just base the royalties on figures based on sold copies? I don't mean to whinch, and I'm sure you are not intent on ripping anyone off....but I just thought you might meant that the percentages is based on revenue rather than the profit .
  12. I'm a big fan of his music and it really works a treat on the dancefloor. I think digital manipulations was only released via P2P networks. He also have more than 100 tracks for free download at his website www.electrypnose.ch and he is willingly sending out his unreleased material on CD to fans. Brain Stretching you can get from this very fine web based label on CD or as mp3 and FLAC... www.resonantearth.com His ambient material is really good as well....he's a truly talanted musician and extremly productive.
  13. Hmmm...hard choice between TIP and Eat Static for me.... Ohh...neither of them is in the poll...WTF? Well then...it's a hard choice between Kox Box and Juno Reactor...I'll go for Kox Box.
  14. From what I gathered there is at least a couple of the producers mentioned here that gladly admit that they are trying to make music just like their idols. They sound like they imitate and they admit they imitate. So I think I can agree with them and say they sound like imitations without being offensive. The Eminem comparasion was just an example how it's the same in any scene. My father was also complianing when I listen a bit to stuff like the Stone Roses and thought it sounded like a bad coverband from his days. I'm getting oldish...so I'm allowed to do the same now....ok And I don't hate if people discuss and critisize my music...I just don't like that as soon as you voice an opinion about styles of music or the industry you will always get comments about your production. No so much any heavy critisism, but it's a bit like you should shut up and just do music and not have opinions on other peoples music. Well....I do have opinions and will not shut up....and I'm glad if people have opinions about my music as well...both positive and negative.
  15. I hate it when you have an opinion about the music and people start "what about your music then?". I guess quite a lot of the music I make sounds quite old in many ways. It sure don't fit in so easily with much music today at least...but I guess it doesn't fit in an oldschool set either. Anyways...who cares what you call it....there is loads you can check out for free at www.resonantearth.com and make up your own mind. And I'm sorry to come off as opinionated on the subject....but I been living for the goatrance scene for more than 15 years so it's a subject I'm passionate about. No offence to fans or producers....you are entitled to your opinion and taste....I'm just saying what I personally think. And that is that from what heared from the acts mentioned here they lack depth and real psychedelic spirit, and that they seem more like retro acts than anything newschool or oldschool. Again....except E-Mantra....his tracks really bring me in to party mode.
  16. What is oldschool and what is newshool? Surely they don't mean the same thing? For me none of the acts mentioned here is newschool...they are mainly trying to imitate the oldschool sound. A bit like if Eminem would try to replicate Grandmaster Flash....not many Hip-Hop fanatics would be likely to consider it a great oldschool track. He might get similar sound, but I doubt it would carry the same feeling as the original. But they sure aren't newschool either. The newschool is the acts that have developed and followed new paths. Psytrance and now darkpsy as well as full-on is really newschool goatrance. I would call them retrotrance. From the retrotrance acts E-Mantra is my favorite. His tracks have real psychedelic spirit and depth and could fit well in on a comp like Order Odonata.
  17. Looking good and working very nice now!! One thing I must winch about though when it comes to the change...merging the sites seems like a good idea but audioscrobbler was clearly a better name. Keep up the good work...I love the service you provide.
  18. BOM Pepe! Nice to see you popping in here. Thank you for a very fine album and awsome cover. Keep up the good work!
  19. Unlike you accoring to your signature slogan I did not only get a superiority complex in Goa, but I also got that absolum is not dark night music If you like Wild Rumpus maybe you should check out my morning mix I posted, http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26112 It's some Error Corrective in there, and if you like them you might appreciate some of the other tracks even if we don't agree on what style to call it or when it should be played. Anyway it would be interesting to know if you rather percive it as a night mix.
  20. There is a couple of nice tracks on that comp...but dark?? Night??
  21. Thanks ppl for taking time to check it out. @nick_InZoMNiAC Yes...it's a bit full-onish I agree. With Goa you mean old school I presume, cause in Goa nowadays it's mostly spun records in the morning, which I can't really stand either. I really try to dig out some moring music that sounds a bit different and also reminds me about the olden days. But I also find it boring with music that sounds just like something from 95, so that don't leave much music left to choose from, but I'm personally very happy that there actually is coming some music now that pleases my taste for morning music. I only played night music usually otherwise for a few years since there have been a lot more intresting music for that IMO.
  22. I thought I been flooding the market with my tracks already 27 tracks made available in less than a year should be enough for even the most dedicated fans... so a mix should be nice for a change I figured The artists featured is well worth a listen IMO....and I play a lot with loops and FX in the mix so even if you heard som tracks they will sound quite different. So just check it out and stop bitching OK
  23. I recorded down this little set a couple of weeks ago and figured that it could be a nice idea to share it in here. It's a 73 minutes ~100Mb 190k VBR mp3 with some morning tunes mixed together. I don't have a tracklist , but some artists featured is: Noble Savage Moodsyne Dantalians Proteus Error Corrective Leenuz Spakci Takci Hope you enjoy it. Spindrift Morning Mix mp3
  24. Hehehe...funny cheeky boy. At least I'm faster with my releases than Twisted I don't like the label "label" myself though...and like I said I think a label should do more than just posting tracks on a site or as CD's...so I don't actually see the operation as a label really myself.
  25. So whats the big difference with the sites I mentioned and the ones listed on noerror.org? Enlighten me please. For me it's an organisation similar to a record label but operating using the web as their main distribution channel. A record label should do mastering, promotion, AnR etc and not just run some ftp to make some friends music available. So actually there is not many of neither the links I mentioned or the ones listed on the sites you mentioned that should call themself labels IMO.
