  1. Makes sense. Richie is actually hosting a M_NUS party near where I live next weekend but it doesn't seem that tickets are still available... but perhaps if his musical direction has changed so drastically it's for the better and besides, there's a psy party the same night I've already sortof bound myself to. Still a great shame all the same though I shall copy these selections to wordpad to dig up later when I have the money to throw at it again. Thanks muchly
  2. I just ordered 'Recycled Plastik' recently. Have resisted the urge to download this track and listen to it so that I get the fresh thrill that everybody else seems to have gotten from it. *dreamy smile*, I guess I just don't want the magic to end As for the slowing down of plus 8 etc, this is the first I've heard about any of that so it would be stupid of me to comment. I like the passion behind your convictions though, no longer feeling the dread. I shall have to check out the transitions album. The next question out of my mouth was going to actually be in regard to any reccomendations for things outside of plastikman which were either similar or by the same guy, but then remembered I have no money and didn't want to live in torture until I did
  3. I'm curious, does plastikman generally come under 'minimal acid house'? I'm talking about his first two albums 'sheet one' and 'musik' rather than the later albums that seem to be classed more under ambient (not listened to them yet). Also what are peoples thoughts on his work under this alias? I've not yet explored Hawtin's work outside of the two aforementioned albums but I can't get enough of them, and I got a little dismayed by Rino, amongst others, in an old minimal thread saying they used to love Hawtin but have now somehow become dissillusioned. I dunno... I'm just wondering if I've got a sort of blind affinity for his work that may wear off after a while. Heh, just listening to the album Musik as I write this, Track 3 (Kriket), and 4 mins 30 seconds into it you can hear a distant rock track playing. Like really really distant. You may have to pump the volume right up on headphones to get it. Doesn't sound like it is intentional but then again he does love playing with ideas of silence and whathaveyou so perhaps it is. Sound leakage from another studio perhaps?

    Kulu (Oct 08')

Don't know if anyone goes to this event but recently there's been confusion over whether Kulu in Bradford, UK is going to be running at all... Well here's the next one's info copied over from psymusic. Apparently, as with Cabbage, Kulu is no longer going to be a monthly party either so anyone who can come should do so to show support Kulu return for fungal mayhem with: ANDY MASON (Kundalini) plus residents Mad Mick & Bez23 Middle Room hosted by: STRANGE DAZE featuring: Dan Compression Nanook Overtones Hypnotryst Also chilled vibrations in the Ambient Hutch Cafe. Check http://www.kulu.info and http://www.strange-daze.tk for more details @ The Mill, Bradford BD7 1JE
  5. I was listening to that track just a few hours ago. Can't help but love Plastikman
  6. I guess if I was single I'd prolly adopt a very similar philosophy, but when I spend a lot of money on CDs it sorta feels like I'm spending a lot of 'our' money on CDs that could be used in activities and such that we both enjoy (she hates psy ).
  7. How much money do you spend roughly on releases per month? Generally for me it's only around £25 a month though recently I ordered £100 worth and felt that that was a LOT of money to be throwing at it in one big bulk order. Wish I did have the money to spend on it more often all the same I guess
  8. I play psy at the incinerator a lot. Start off so quiet no one can hear it and keep raising the volume minutely every now and then till it seeps into the environment ninja like It's the only way I can get them to stand being in the same room as it. Generally they eventually realise what's going on and force me to turn Beach boys/Queen/Red Hot Chillis back on. They wont even acknowledge it as a music genre. To them it's just noise. I think with most people, especially the old ones set in their ways, trying to train them to actually enjoy psy is pretty futile. Doesn't stop me trying though...

    CABBAGE!

Maybe... but I dunno. I can't help but feel like this is due to the recent drop in numbers at both Kulu and Cabbage. I'm hoping it's not a sign that the whole crowd is begining to move on in that neck of the woods. That would really suck

    CABBAGE!

yeah it would probably save a bit of money Times are tight recently so I guess it'd be for the best anyhow

    CABBAGE!

I heard that cabbage has now changed from once a month to once every two, you guys know if that's true?
  12. We might have bumped into each other at cabbage! I was with Pixejanet :o)

    CABBAGE!

Two of our group were falling asleep in the chill out room. I'd have been very happy to stay till the end
  14. Well like I said I went and saw them and they had a CD vendor... so I bought it anyway Playing it now and loving the grooves.

    CABBAGE!

Heh yeah it was pretty spectacular. System 7 were absolutely brilliant. I think with Merv it was just too late in the night and we were all just a little bit too shattered to appreciate his set. Which was a shame really because I was looking forward to it. Plus we were forced to leave before he'd completely finished. Awesome Cabbage though Nice to meet you too Pixie
  16. Looking forward to seeing Eat Static live tonight in Leeds but doubt they'll be playing anything downbeat, which I guess I feel a little dissapointed at. In any case I need to buy this album next time I have some money coming in. Have bought far too much music this month already
  17. I miss Sunrise in mancs.. thats the only one i went to over there....

  20. 3 years? blimey! plenty life left in both parties to last long after i have to retire... LOL

  21. Gold Stars for being a Kulu/cabbage head:)

  22. Same here in the UK. I remember a while back I went on a quest to find somewhere, anywhere in Manchester that sold psy. I figured that there must be a small underground shop somewhere that catered for it in the entire of Manchester. I found cyberdog, which I already knew about and that charges £19.99 a cd and that was it It's always confused me that it is not more popular when you consider that there is a lot of music outside of the mainstream which you can quite happily go out and buy if you feel the need. Perhaps someone should exploit this huge hole in the market...
  23. That guys stuff is mindbendingly awesome
  24. That's a great shame, but I guess commitments are commitments. We can all be glad that Kulu itself is even still around after all the drama this last year or so I suppose. Fraid it'll always be closer to my heart than Cabbage, even if Cabbage is truly spectacular at times.
  25. Yes, Bez is perhaps the only one I do know by name. Was you at Castle when he gave out the inner children? Possibly the best costume idea ever. I still hold mine close to my heart
