  1. I thought it was a quality release, but I don't find myself going back to it very often...
  2. sounds mediocre to me.... which is far superior to my impressions of the last album. i see they're still insisting on annoying samples (see "baby you got it")... hmmmm... i'm gonna go listen to this: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=3634 when BF had BOTH primary members, and a DISTINCT sound!!!
  3. I just want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I use your site frequently and love everything about it. Nice taste in tunes, too.
  4. goasia is an outstanding goa artist! the samples are stunning

This is an incredible, and powerful comp intened to re-spark intrest in old school goa (as if anyone here needed a re-spark It is being distributed for free, with the artists' permission! As you can see it kicks of with a Muses Rapt song! It sounds like a lost track from Spiritual Healing, but with way better production. Sweet melodies playing throughout this track, it definatey has my mouth watering for more tunes like this. An amazing track to open with... :clapping: The Filteria track is another highlight! With a live track, no less. I still can't comprehend putting this many layers together, but I love how it sounds. Also very melodic, throughout. SynSun also appears several times on this comp. Both tracks are epic! Especially "Space Sirens" which has some awesome surprise breaks and gated voices. Ka-Sol also donated two great tracks. This is an artist I'm extremely fond of because he has really mastered a genuine retro style. I love the basslines on both tracks. "DfG" is by far the better of the two tracks though, and is a crazy, crazy track. It made me feel like I was floating!!! Goasia (who is releasing a full album soon on Suntrip) added the sweet track "Never Again"! Perhaps the song title is a reference to many old-school artists bitter sentiments after the scenes' collapse years ago; and to the newly emerging artists defying history. Its a classic sounding track that reminds me of the good ole days of Astral Pro and Pleaidians! Which brings me to an artist named The Wonderboy, who put this whole project together, and called all the artists invovled, and put some of his own amazing tracks on the comp as well. MOST of his tracks are impressive ("Holy Rave" is great for all the classic samples, which are used well, too), and gloriously psychedelic! We all owe him a gigantic debt of gratitude, especially if this compilation means as much to you as it does to me! Please seek this album out and listen to it yourself, you'll see there are no words to describe its goa glory! I hope it succeeds in rekindling the old school flame and brings more attention to acts like Wonderboy, Vox, Subra and everyone else involved. This will likely be many psynews fans' #1 choice for album of the year!
  7. This is probably the best Antiscarp release to date. Starts off with two nice breakbeat tracks then the badass "pineal power." Every song is distinct from the next, all is quite fresh and entertaining. Seems this artist(s?) takes himself a tad more seriously than most soumi producers (not that there's anything wrong with a sense of humor). The production is lacking like all soumi, but this is probably the best sounding FREE trance I've ever heard. Check it out, its free and good! The cover art is awesome too.
  8. I found this album to be packed with nice sounds, and for some reason it reminds me of last year's Hydrophonic release. Perhaps the sleeper hit of this year, Voice of Cod is without a doubt talented, but perhaps a little lazy as I found some tracks to be slightly repetative. They do have a nice unique full-on sound, but this release is certainly shy of "groundbreaking". This music keeps a certain melodic drive throughout its many layers that gives these tunes a certain feel, which I can fully appreciate. I also found what many others mentioned in previous posts about this albums' tendancy to "grow" on you after repeated listenings to be quite true. Indeed. Final Verdict: 8/10 (Awesome!)
  9. For me... ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Fuck yeah! This baby took me back to shpongland! A place I very much like to visit and visit often. The last three tracks are phenomenal and will convert non-believers to the Church of Posford and Raja. Final Verdict:10/10 (The only one this year!)
  10. Best release from this label, most tracks are above average in quality and production. A good release but better comps came out this year (New World Order, Aspara). This label continues to improve their unique and potent psychedelic sound. Kudos! Final Verdict: 7/10 (Nice)
  11. I thought this album is of quality in production, however, it lacks emotion, bite, and soul. I can easily say I was disappointed, considering the groups monumental previous works. Addin them to the list of dead BIG NAMERS. R.I.P. Bamboo Forest Jaia Final Verdict: 4/10 (Sub-par)
  12. Love and respect to the SunTrippers another fine release! Keep em coming! Final Verdict: 7.5/10 (Exceptional)
  13. A key release this year. Twisted dark forest madness that will make (almost) anyone freak out on psychedlics. For me it came at a crucial time because I was begining to lose faith in the montony of "modern" production techniques. After all its getting harder to tell one album from the next and one years' music from anothers. Its good when albums like this roll by and wake me up from the fog of blandness that's beginng to settle on the world of psy trance. Well done gents! Final Verdict:9.5/10 (Absolutely Essential)
  14. Without a doubt a stellar realease from the outstanding SunTrip crew. A contender for album of the year, this album brings back beautiful memories of mushroom trips into outer space in '97; the good ole days, when artists were pouring their hearts and souls into the music. This is ESSENTIAL. period. Final Verdict: 9/10
  15. The Watcher

    Bubble - Airless

This is a quality release, although it does fizzle out in the latter tracks. Worth checking out if you're looking for something lighter. Final Verdict: 6.5/10
  16. I admit my review was harsh and improper, but dammit they pissed me off with this move (to super-crap-trance). So they get what deserve. And I don't see many people that disagree. Another promising BIG NAMER bites the bullet... R.I.P: Bamboo Forest
