Post interesting rare/unique facts that you think people (or almost) never heard about,

and probably got highlighted because of the internet activity of today, otherwise not...

not to much alien stuff and ufo's, latest daily news etc...

Some Phenomenal natural landscapes for example.

And feel free to debate,

See how it goes!

Just crossed on this fact some time ago,

Imo stunning!

Here's an aerial photograph of Lake Hillier in Western Australia, glowing in Pepto Bismol pink.

The water in the region gets its distinctive pink color from a combination of a green algae, halobacteria and brine prawn.

can you take these ecological systems which have evolved on a planetary scale and stick them in such an incredibly small container with disproportionate amounts of atmosphere, soil, water, ocean... and have these same principles basically function. we can take these animals and systems and stick them in an incredibly small container and it still works.

This annual event sees millions of terrestrial red crabs swarm across the island in the hope of making it to the sea.

An Australian territory, Christmas Island lies some 2600 km north-west of Perth in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

While just 1500 people live there, it is home to an estimated 120 million crabs.
