Ormion Posted August 20, 2009 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Has anyone watched The Room? The film is supposed to be one of the worst (if not THE worst) movie ever made. It's so amazingly bad that it was produced as a chamber drama, but now it's promoted as black comedy The movie has become a real cult phenomenon and there are dozens of videos on youtube. Just search 'the room' or 'tommy wiseau' (the guy who made it) and see for yourself. I was really curious about it so I finally watched it myself. And yes. This movie is a masterpiece! You know when a movie 'is so bad that it's good?'. Well the Room is so utterly pathetic that it's a masterpiece!. But it doesn't really matter, this movie is a phenomenon! Useless info: Even today, 6 years after its release the movie is still played in some cinemas in US (especially Los Angeles) mostly midnight screenings and it's almost every time sold out. People attended at the cinema dressed as the movie's characters and throw plastic spoons at the screen! It's also coming in UK the next month for one night and it's already sold out! Classic! The Room belongs to this rare category of creations that even the phrase 'abomination' can't describe them. Movies such as Plan 9 From Outer Space, Manos: The Hand Of Fate etc. The fact that all these movies in this category except the Room are low budget sci-fi b-movies flicks shows perfectly why The Room is the king. Watch with Tommy Wiseau (writer/director/main character) and you'll see that it's for real. Man oh man... all these scenes that have nothing to do with the main plot (but as I understood from some interviews I read online, the dude wanted to 'tackle' some issues; hence the random drugs scene, the breast cancer, the whatnotever other bullshit subjects). The sex scenes that made me crazy. The acting. The filming (the dude really has an unsteady hand at times). The football throwing. And most importantly: his laughter. By god. THE Room? How dare you? Not it's not a soft porn. Actually there are two utterly ridiculous sex scenes in the beginning, but the movie shines after that. Im unsure if its a joke or not (subliminal jokster producer). it made me think of twin peaks, cube, days of our life and an urge to watch Soth Park.
