Big Problem in FL6

Recommended Posts

Continued from this thread click

So the shit is still going on strong.I have gathered all my files to back up in DVD's to free the hard drive,as I was talking about, but I think that the problem is finally CPU related. :(

Using the process manager in tune up utilities,I noticed that when the glitches appear,CPU is under 90-100% usage. This happens when using 2 or more vsts at the same time. When there are no glitches,CPU usage is around 50-70%. The cpu meter in FL6 doesnt show more than 5-20% though.

when FL6 is running without the track playing, tune up utilities show a CPU usage of 30-55%.But if I switch windows from the cpu meter to the FL6 window,i get a 100% peak, and then down again to ~50%.

Is this a normal CPU usage? Could it be the reason of those fucking glitches??

If it is,what can I do to fix it? (other than buying a new pc?)

I use a 2.6Gh Intel 4 processor, with 512 L2 cache. Some times programs read it as 1.3gh though.I mailed Intel, they gave me a program to test it,and it came out as 2.6,so maybe its also a glitch?

PS: Should I post this in the Tech forum too?

Turn off all unnecessary services..Type 'services.msc' in run and either stop, disable or set the extra services to manual..

I've heard some people having these issues before & in some cases it was a virus that was causing it so run a anti-virus scan..

Also try increasing your buffer settings and give FL high priority in your taskmanager..Try not to run any other programs in the background when FL is running..

Hope this helps..

Perhaps it's a 1.3Ghz CPU. Check what this program says about it http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

It's weird to get glitches from CPU usage from only 2 vsts.

Try to max the buffer thing in FL.

(I didn't read the thread you continued from)

CpuZ reads it as 2.6gh. But other programs that i have used read it as 1.3gh.Some read it as 2.6,others as 1.3. Could be that they dont read the multiplier thingy...

it can be due to your cpu , soundcard , cracked , crap VST´s or DC offset . good luck bro .  :)

soundcard is Creative SB live!...not the best , I know... VSTs are well known ones...but it does it on every vst, when I use more than 2-3.... What is DC offset???(noob)

Latency is at max...370ms :(

I tried to stop all the extra services...problem is that I dont know which are important and which are not...(apart from the obvious ones) I ahve programmed the pc to boot with only the most basic of applications.. next to my clock there are only two icons, norton and the internet symbol...and msn when I am logged in..

where can I find a list of the processes which cannot be turned off?? SO i dont fuck up windows by ending an important process..(has allready happened)

I dont think its a virus though...norton may be shit...but he can pick up viruses now and then...and tis a long time I ahve this problem...I'll ran a check nontheless..problem is it recognises my cracks as viruses <_<:D

LOL @ your multiplier

DAMN. That piece of crap. I remember now. Its that shit that makes the cpu 1.3... I tried overclocking it,but it falls back at 1.3 after 100mhz or so.

#$!!@ :angry::angry::angry:

Should we call teh Feathers??

EDIT: Its the CPU.It was running at 1300mhz, half the speed that it should be.I overclocked it by some 400mhz and the glitches are almost completely gone. Thank you to the guy that sold me a motherboard that cant support my CPU.

You can read my rant at the Show-Off thread in the Tech forum.

thanks for the help guys anyways. :)

Yeah it was the CPU indeed. Fl can be quite heavy

I used to run on a P4 1.6mhz and I had those glitches all the time

Using the same computer I changed the sequencer and they were gone. I think that its because FL never stops, even if there is CPU overload it still tries to continue giving those weird sounds

Oh and snowball I would delete Norton and get another anti-virus like avast or something :o
