I just got this cd in the mail. First of all i have to say the packaging is

looking very commerical, atleast to me. Which gave me kinda frown when i

first opened my twisted package that i've been eargely awaiting. But after

listening to this cd the artwork/packaging doesn't matter! Tatsu got the

review pretty good, so i dont have anything to add except this is an excellent

cd that every psy fan should own. I'm very dissapointed that the Hallucinogen

track are not on here since i ordered this cd when the tracklist had 2

hallucinogen tracks, but oh well. Another excellent comp from twisted!

07. Fly Agaric : I See Myself (Unmixed Demo Version)

08. Younger Brother : Dwarves (Main Mix)

09. Shpongle : Dorset Perception (Total Eclipse Rmx)

Review:

After changing the tracklist Twisted finally is able to deliver their

new compilation With this the new psy year starts excellent! A lot of

new stuff from Simon Posford, he had his hands in six of this nine

tracks. It starts with Younger Brother: The Finger, a very melodic tune

a little in the old school/hallucinogen style. In it is a female voice

sample that really drives me over the edge. It reminds me a bit of the

voice in Around The World In A Tea Daze and the voice speaks English

with a strange, foreign accent. Maybe an Indian accent, i don't know.

The second track is harder with some metallic noises and a hard, noisy

melody. It's a full on dance floor stomper. The next track from Twisted

Allstars goes in the same direction but after a break it offers a funky

melody that gets more and more layers. Also very nice! The Tristan track

is less melodic with a somehow screaming melody afer the break and a lot

of noises. The fifth track is quite progressiv. It has hard and fast

beats and basslines but at the break you hear an uplifting melody and

there is also a small nearly ambient like part. The next track,

Promotheus: Mekong Delta, is another highlight! It's very melodic but

with a hard beat and bassline and some nice chants. It's also more old

school like with a lot of layers, just great!! Fly Agaric is in fact a

collaboration between Infected Mushroom and Simon Posford, and it's a

good one! You hear the new Infected style together with old Hallucinogen

in it. It has a very twisted melody and beautifull female voice singing

in a sort of ambient part. I wouldn't mind to hear more of this! The

second Younger Brother track is also melodic but in a full on way with

different very driving drums in it and several melody layers. At last

there is the Total Eclipse remix of Shpongle's Dorset Perception. It's

ambient (but still with beats in it) with sort of flamenco guitar and

also a small part with trumpets. Very beautifull and nice to finish this

great CD. This comp is the best I heard for the last few months, even

better than Myster Of The 13 Crystall Skulls and Assassinations. So i

suggest you give it a try as fast as you can... My favourites are both

Younger Brother tracks and Promotheus.

This is the best album I have heard in a long time. The thing I love so much

about simon p. related projects such as this is PRODUCTION. Tight clean crisp

tracks impecably knitted together. (1) For me the first track is groovy, it

bounces along and has just enough melody to grip your mind completly. The

break is nice and soothing and the type of stuff I love to hear when dancing.

For me the theme throughout this track is FUN. (2)'have a good time all the

time' - This track has a beautiful bass pattern not unlike Horrogram meeting

demnation - I love it, full of momentum and then a big head ripping riff that

is followed by a powerful flowing break, heading down and definatly spinning

if you could see this track it would look something like the Milky Way!

(3)Posford, Cooke, Souque & Ritkam make up Twisted Allstars - 'If thats what

being crazy is....then I'm senseless, out of it, gone down the road.....wacko'

- Continuing with the theme of fun this track is fully bass loaded together

with lovely mid riffs! It would be fair to say that there is something

cosmosis like (at his best) in this track. It gets a high mark for funkiness

from me - one to jelly-dance to. (4) There is a distinct change in sound with

Tristan's 'Fortean Times' and the album moves in a different direction. As a

huge fan of tristan's I am biased but this track is incredably addictive. Like

lore of fives the riff creeps up on you. What you expect to be a pleasant head

nodder turns out to be an overwhelming awe inspiring explosion that captures

you fully and totally. If you could see this track it would look something

like the Victoria falls. (5)The Linear trance intro pads itself out with

spurts and pads and a synthetic squelch breaking into a banging coming

together of all the sounds available as they head on their merry way. I'd say

if this track was a vegetarian the dancefloor would look like a very succulent

delicious irrisistable apple ready to be eaten. It's not my favourite track on

this album however. (6)Prometheus starts with a spinning melody and then this

disappears momentarily and we enjoy a choppier structure to the track. The

break has bottles being tapped by a guy with a lovely ethnic voice and then

there is a lovely synergy created by bass, bottles and what sounds to me like

the worlds first psychedelic dij. Definatly for the morning time and is in

contrast to the more banging track that proceeded it. (7) Fly Agaric - This

track rips along from the the start and the two artists involved here really

complement each other. Real classic psy-trance at its best - Not too much

going on but what is here is chosen with a lot of care. A groovey riff, a

trippy voice and an angel's vocel for the break. This track is at risk of

winning the cheesy vote primarily because of the angelic voice but put this

between palm trees at 11am on some georgeous island in the pacific after

dancing for a day and well......perfect. (8) This is my favourite track on the

album. I remember it from Voov so it has some sentimental value. It's back to

having fun and some stoner is going on about his work ethic and explaining his

attitude to clothes. A good laugh is on offer and then an almighty bang comes

in when the bass hits home - very danceable indeed. Again there are a few

carfully chosen sounds rather than a psy-coctail involved in making this. It

pounds along in the most satisfying way imaginable. (9)Shpongle is Shpongle

and Total eclipse are difinatly evident here. For the better I am not sure.

The intro is glorious and I wasn't expecting beats so I was thrown when they

hit in (quite fast aswell) and the track becomes a more traditional trancer.

I think an access denied style of remix would have suited this track nicely.

Anyway I have been almost 1 hour getting down this review so I should go. All

in all this album is amazing and you will never regret buying it. Vibes.

Guest where's the underground ??

ok , it's a cool album but FUCK , what IS THIS SHIT ???

when i ordered the cd it had two hallucinogen tracks , i get it and nooo ,

simon decided to play with our heads and our pockets , why make it availlable

for order if the tracklist is not final ?? And i don't believe that crap that

they changed their minds...How can they sell the cd (thus having it ready)

showing the other tracklist on the site , and then 3 days later ,when it gets

to your door , the cd has another tracklist...When did they print this

different tracklisting cd ?? Did they do it in three days ???? I don't think

so... More likelly the cd is ready a week , or even more , now and they just

put the fake tracklist up so we order it...It may "kick ass" but this is no

reason for them to pull things like that , i don't believe artists should take

advantage of their talent to use disgusting marketing techniques...The artwork

sucks as sucks the little sticker on the front with the crappy music mag

reference...ps.When is the live album released ?? Another one of their stupid

ways to advertise...

got nothing to add to neurofluoro, the thing that makes this stand out from all

the rest is the incredibly amazing production throughout the whole cd. 10/10

for the music 0/10 for the cover, but theres a saying in english "you should

never judge a book by its cover" ;o))

So, it's finally released. Got an early copy of this, (I won't put my name here

'cause I know Simon reads this!) well, not this cd, but most of the tracks.

Finger kicks ass, allthough I hate the sample. (the word "finger" just sounds

wierd!) Looking forward to the other tracks though, have to rush out to get

this one. Too bad Twisted is doing the mainstream graphic design thing, looks

like I'll need to go over the pond and hand out some beat-downs to those fools

behind the computer...

Is it only me who thinks that the awful sample from "Noisemaker" by Infected

Mushroom is about to start just before the angel voice in "i see myself" by

"fly agaric"?

Once again Twisted shows to the world that European Union is the true King of

trance..

I bet still some undeveloped countries, like Israel think that they are the

best, BUT THEY AREN'T

Business as usual in the Twisted camp as the only unusually amazing track is

the superb Shpongle remix. If only more psytrance was as deep and varied as

the Total Eclipse treatment of Dorset Perception (10/10)... Rest of the tracks

are above average although I expected a bit more from Younger Brother knowing

they can pull off stuff like the unusually superb -The Receptive- instead of

sounding an awful like Infected Mushroom (never neverland any1?)... Rating:

7.5/10 as I expect more innovative weirdness and less run of the mill

trance-to-dance on a twisted comp...

Guest Mascok. ex-convict.

oh fuck i hate infected mushroom so much, but simom, oh man, i didnt excpect it

from you!. oh no.

just when i bought this album and saw there is a collaboration simon and

infected, i said to my self.. what the fuck?!. after all their kissing ass,

even writing a pretty good song with a stupid name..

but now, let the critisize begin!. it is known when you write a review to first

give complement and than suggestions and opinion. so ill start with a

complement..

nice achivment infected.m, u finaly sat with simon in a studio.. oh were

getting to the opinion heoh.. hmm you had a very interesting female vocalist

who played for like 300 shpongle songs.. ooops it slipped... well, I CANT TAKE

IT ANYMORE!!!, this song just sucks!! amazingly sucks. i had never excepted

anything as sucky as this from either infected nor simon. oh my fucking god.

what the fuck is that stupid shpongle female vocalist is singing on this song,

oh fuck, no respect for shpongle, aye simon?!, your gonna get it!. holy maria,

saint joseph, jesus christo. what the fuck is a flying agaric anyway.. ohh

what are you tring to do infected? trying to distroy one of the fewer left

pioneer of true quality psychedelic trance. jesus simon, and u felt from it.

from all the people in this world i wouldnt excpected it from you...

well.. whats so bad about this track:

first of all, it has stupid gayish infected elements like the stupid distorted

bassline, bassdrum and making melodies out of vocal samples.

second, simon shows lack of orignality at its best.

i say, ok simon, i forgive u. u just had an excellent shpongle album. a smart

man once said, "shit happens", but dont let it happen again or in other words

dont mix or finish this song.

nothing else. just please, im bagging you. alittle orginalty, a little touch,

art, pashion, psychedelia!. thats all i ask.
