    Why not ? There are labels like Ninja tunes, Truthoughts etc with various music styles that definitely worth to talk about.

    I always thought that Ninja Tune is pretty much Electronica :blink: Herbalizer etc etc? I mean, I guess you can use your brain to distinct about what we will talk on this forum and not, Right?! If you want to talk about Brittney or Madonna, I am sure there are more suitable forums than this one.

    Gabber/Hardcore/Speedcore has the worst kick ever!

     

    With kicks like that I can't stand the music.

    Disted 808 and 909 can sound really cool in music, but not like that, that I can agree on. Ive made some really nice Breaks stuff with disted bass drums in the past. :D I am listening to some old "Hardcore" that I used to like on Bonzai, and I must say, I like that stuff, what I do not get is that new stuff that is around that is just a kickdrum, some stupid fuck saying "Kill the police" accompanied by an awful bassline and some percussion that just sound crap. Damn, the following statement will haunt me forever on this forum but; I prefer Brittney Spears to that musik. (And of course, its all about taste, and blah blah blag)

    I have already inquired... they aren't even planning a digital download option. There is a CD promo out there according to Discogs; just hoping to run across that some time or another.

    If there is such promo, I will get my hands on it. *wanders off on music hunting mission*

    I never understood Gabber or Hardcore, it never really attracted me. I mean, I know a lot of people actually love it, and its uber big in The Netherlands, but what is so attractive to it? The chicks at the parties? The Chavs? Maybe I should start making some Psy Gabber... Oh wait, we already have Dark Psy, its close enough (yes yes, its a joke, i dont like Dark Psy, but I can still see some good in Dark Psy, but not in Gabber...) :D

    Its a really strange scene as well, full with Nazis (not all of course, I know that), full with punkz (contradicts my nazi statement, but thats how it is) and they really seem to like Biomechanical Stuff. Horror is also very common around this scene. I once saw a bunch of people going to a gabber party in Amsterdam, and they all wore like Brown Military clothing (like Hitler had)... :blink:

     

    Can you dance to that music more than 1 hour without taking some kind of upper?

    I wish he had been more prolific... I had a hard time amassing a sizable collection of his work.

     

    Strangely, one of my favourite Holden productions is the remix he did for Depeche Mode. And that I cannot find in any kind of digital format anywhere. Just vinyl!

    You mean the Holden remix of the The Darkest Star released on Mute? Yes thats only been released on Vinyl. :) You could call MUTE and see if they are planning a compilation or something with it :D

    i started listening to psytrance after being introduced to yahel few years ago. i even liked it more than IM. i downloaded his new album, tried to listen to it but ended up skipping 4-5 tracks and then i deleted it (i usually don't delete downloaded albums). the thing is even among clubby music his work is crap!!!! if he wants to become famous and sell a lot, it's ok, i respect that, but with such a shitty artwork he's far from being close to infected fuckin mushroom :rolleyes:

    I delete all the crap that I download and will not end up buying, why keep crap on your computer? Its like letting the shit being in the toilette and never flush... :lol:

     

    Anyways, Yahel, no matter how crappy it is, I actually end up downloading and buying it. I always find one or two tracks that go straight to my heart. Production wise, its as good as IM (IMO; LOL?!) :D

    Spektre has some nice stuff. Just now picked up a copy of Audiowelle and Salut is really nice :) Its kind of progressive, though minimal, and yet trance :) The label it is I actually just found out about; Minimal And Melodies Music

    If you can't see how electro and full-on belong to different genres, and how trauma trance and prog belong to the same genre, then your conception of trance music is different enough to mine that useful communication about it is impossible.

    What Definition? Predefined sounds? Predefined formulas? That's the exact opposite of what psy should be about. I'm sorry, but electro and tech house are not "streched out" psychedellic music, they're something completely different. But if you believe you can call that psy...well.. that's your own idea. I don't really care if artists stretch out the meaning of a genre, actually I respect artists for going to extremes, but that's not what's hapenning right now. The genres are being narrowed down even further with predefined formulas, and that's exactly why 90% of the music blows. Luckily there's other genres I can look up to, like ambient for example, where the ratio of good music to be found is in a better advantage then the psytrance scene.

    Kind of what I tried to say with Dark Psy.... but well, it does not work that way, cause people are so PSY about their genre. :lol: (shit, I can see rotwang going all balistic on me now saying that I called him scum!) :D

    Hah, crazy converse... As a moderator, I actually didn't even know frozen dream was banned, how did that happen ? Beside his usual nonsense posts, has he insulted or bashed anyone ? I can't believe that random nonsense is punished. For me, even nonsense has some sense, and cannot be dissmissed, no matter how crazy or idiotic may sound. It MADE sense in poster's brain at the moment he was posting. For me, nonsense is not a valid ban. Can someone explain what he did, beside speaking in tongues ? Nemo ?

    Yes, trolling around, making no sense, gives you an instant ban, especially if you have been warned several times to cut the crap.

    However you can get OWNED for your taste opinion is over my head. Nobody can or WILL win this argument. Rotwang has his opinion, I have mine, as so many others. I would say it is an UN-WINNABLE argument.

     

    Anyways, as for Minimal, I think without Minimal, you would not have "Dark Psy". However, without minimal we would not have other acts either, so whatever it spawned, it was good for many parties.

     

    As for Dark Psy killing the Psy movement, I have to admit, I was "trolling" a bit, and I do not really think it killed the psy scene, it divided it. Which in my opinion is the good way, as I still can chose to not go, if there is dark psy being played.

     

    Psychedelic, can not be defined, thats true, because what to one person is Psychedelic is to another pure horror or just plain boring.

     

    and oh, Rotwang, you said that Dark Psy bashing is old, well, I have seen you participating in other genre bashing, so... :lol: we bash what we dislike or do not agree with, thats our nature, nothing more. I dont care what you think about the music I like, I dont take it personal when someone says that Scorb sucks or that OOOD is the biggest load of bollox there is... The only ones we are hurting by saying bad things, are the artists feelings. (not that I think that IM cares anyways what anyone on ANY forum says, they are well happy with their success hehe) :D

    edit. well , I do not agree with that, is there something wrong with me having my thoughts about psy trance and what it should sound like? Taste is like an ass, it has two sides, yours is one, mine is the other. Mine is smooth, yours is shaven and has zits. :) (yes, its not supposed to offend, just to make it more visual) ;):D

    Anyways, One question, is Trentemoller Psychedelic to you? For me it is! Does that make Trentemoller, Minimal Psy? Or have you heard of Hardfloor, is that Psychedelic to you!? FoR ME ITS FUCKING psychedelic, but it is not Psy Acid. Have you heard old Acid House, while taking acid?! Was that Psychedelic for the people back in the days?! SURE AS HELL IT WAS! (I know, I lived it), Do we call that Acid House Psy?! NO!

     

    So, my point is: Dark Psy, yes can be psychedelic to ANYONE, but it has nothing to do with the roots of Psytrance (it has the same bassline structure, but so does many other genres, including plain T R A N C E), just as much as the new Ticon has to do with Psytrance. I mean, people will prolly kill me for saying the above line about Ticon, but its the harsh truth.

     

    Yes, they are artists that did something else, but to associate it with the GENRE PSY TRANCE, is W R O N G.

    I was tripping on 2cb last weekend... I listened to The nommos, psykovsky and Derango(special thanks to a certain member ;) ) and it was the most psychedelic experience i've had in a looong time... We put on something ells, tried many different types of psy, but ended back up with the dark stuff... Everything ells just didn't seem to blow in your head and fuck with your mind like the mentioned artists did... We disgussed this before, and NO ONE could come up with a reasonable explanation on what PSYCHEDELIC music is... It's up to each person, wich music gives you the most psychedelic experience

    The law of tripping, what you start out listening to, will always be the preference of the rest of the trip, in most cases. Anyways, if we are going to talk like that, then I will say that Plastikman is Psytrance, its really psychedelic when I am taking acid. Honestly! Listen to yourself man. Bob Marley is VERY psychedelic ;) Weak points there from you imo! :)

    To be honest I don't hear anything 'psychedellic' in nowaday music that's labeled 'psy', and that includes all of the subgenres. It seems like the definition of 'psychedellic' has been turned from 'complex, crazy, melodic, rhythmic, interesting' to 'simple, unmelodic, vague, plain, uncreative, dark'. Just dropping a sound into a track that sounds way off doesn't make the track psychedellic for fucks sake. It's not about the sound, it's about the effect of the entire track. You build little peaces together and make the whole track sound psychedellic, but yet make the listener interested throughout the entire track. That's the true genius of it, not some damn dark samples layered all over with a bassline, and expecting the listener to just like it. That's why I don't like today's music so much. It's because (almost) everyone is making music with a formula.

    Lets please differentiate between goa trance and psy trance, PLEASE! :D

     

    I was talking about the old good Delta :D

    Last 2 have had nothing to do with Psy, and if you can admit that, then you should also admit that Dark Psy is nothing to do with PSY TRANCE. From now on, I will call it Dark Farts Emo Brew.

    Ok first of all, I didn't say not discussing darkpsy, but let's not focus the discussion only to darkpsy.

    Second darkpsy is not my beloved genre. SA psy is.

    Darshan are great but not dark, they are dark-ish.

    After all why darj must only be one of a kind? The Delta is dark, but Savage Scream too.

    And of course macabre FTW! :D

    ANd yet, Im am sorry to announce, but The Delta has nothing to do with Psy Trance ;) Its some techno hybrid more than psychdelic. Just like Extrawelt or whatever artists that used to hang around our scene..
