  1. "I prefer completely new tracks because I don't like to hear the same ideas recycled"

remixes can be totally different from the original. new tracks can sound like bad remixes. eh?

-if it's good I don't care for the title-

I did say in my original post I appreciate fresh takes on source material. But if I hear the same melody in a few tracks, I get bored. Well, most new tracks do sound like bad remixes.

I don't think about remixes. At all.

Remixes in the same genre? Remixes into a different genre? I've fantasized for a couple years about remixing The Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black" into trance. Would that interest you? :P

    Umm, let's say I feel prejudiced. :P

  2. Do you like remixes? Do you think they are important? I prefer completely new tracks because I don't like to hear the same ideas recycled (often in unimaginatives ways), so usually remixes don't get me excited. Fortunately remixing doesn't seem quite as common in psy trance as it's in other genres like house. That said, if a remix manages to take a particularly fresh perspective on the source material, I may like it. And it's OK if an artist himself remixes his tracks for his live shows.

  3. Juno Reactor. Though they're not "pure" psy, their trance is highly trippy and far better than 97 % of the rest that is released. They don't give a f*ck about sounding like everybody else. Their first two albums were rather shakey, but since then they reached maturity.

It's two years since their last album. I hope they have something new cooking.

  4. 0.5/5

There are a few good releases every once in a while like Ka-Sol's Fairytale, but mostly it's vomiting_smiley.gif Commercial and shallow fullon and flat & unmusical dark psy just don't cut it. vomiting_smiley.gif x 2

ps. We should get a vomiting smiley like the one on Isratrance forums.

  5. and I had a mail in my pm box of 1 hour ago where someone sais it's a pitty we sound so new school with this cd...  Weird! :) ah well, when the tracks are complete you'll have a clearer vision, personally I think this is more modern sounding as Apsara with the Talpa and Khetzal track for sure, as they have some more modern basslines and stuff, the other tracks are just great non-general goa trance imo, and the first is even a little progressive melodic trance... :) ah well, it's hard to label music anyway :P

    Heh, that's funny. :D

  6. Cr*p, I was posting to this thread yesterday, but accidentally closed the tab.

Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy - You already have Trust In Trance so you know what they're about. Secondhand.

Astral Projection - Another World - Ditto

Pleiadians - Identified Flying Object - One of the best goa albums ever, but it's very unlikely you'll find it.

Pleadians - Family of Light - Not quite good as IFO, but still excellent and rather easily available secondhand.

VA - Apsara - Just trantastic nuskool goa with varied tracks.

MFG - Project Genesis - Dark & trippy goa, unique sound. Secondhand.

    Non-psy:

Antix - Lull - Best progressive trance record ever. Highly original. Nuff said.

Vibrasphere - Lime Structure - Great mellower prog. trance. Secondhand.

Leftfield - Leftism - Apart from a few vocal tracks a fantastic album. Deep & varied house & trance.

Behind Blue Eyes - Behind Blue Eyes - Seminal prog. trance with psy flavours.

Massive Attack - Ok this is triphop, but it's one of the best records ever.

    Some shops for secondhand releases:

    www.amazon.co.uk, www.amazon.com, www.musicstack.com, www.ebay.co.uk, www.ebay.com, www.ebay.ca

Oh and welcome to the forum.

  7. sounds like a good plan, I almost never reply here because of too much bull shit, so let's hope it will become more quality instead of quantity! :)

Most forums have much BS and it's wishful thinking to expect ppl to change. You should found an invite-only forum if you want to keep the level of discussion high.

  8. I'm a bit disappointed at this release. I'd have liked a more forwardthinking release (even as it's goa), like track 6 (except the guitars - I hate them in trance except in The Delta - Travelling at the Speed of Thought ;)).

Unfortunately I don't have time for an in-depth review.
