  1. Psychaos - Keyboard Window has an amazing bassline, quite possibly the most brutal in goa & psy. The way it intertwines with other synths is just great. An excellent track overall, too.

Pleadians' Family of Light has a great uplifting bassline.

  2. No, keep up the WAV releases. I have oodles of space and plenty of bandwidth to help out anyone doing a good thing in this scene... I totally don't mind helping out in this case.

Well then their complaint regarding that is a non-issue and maybe they should tone down their message.

  3. Says their website:

"We need your help so that we can keep this project alive , since we have stuff to pay (website hosting , .com , hours that we spend on promoting , producing new music , organizing and compiling new albums for the people), we ask you , please donate and help us!!"

I don't think you can rely solely on voluntary donations for your survival, and IMO you should also look into other ways to ease the burden on yourselves. First you could look for a free hosting service for your website. Google Pages should be a good choice; they don't impose any kind of advertising on your website and you get an easy-to-remember name for your page (that is if you don't want to/can't pay anymore for www.metapsychicrecords.com), such as metapsychicrecords.googlepages.com.

Secondly there's hosting all those releases for hundreds or thousands of ppl to download. At least www.archive.org could host them for free. Drop the wav format if necessary or make ppl pay a small sum like 5 dollars for it.

Thirdly if you feel your organization is stretched, get new ppl involved. It should be easy to find new promo persons and such.

Anyway good luck and thanks for all the good releases!

My brother has those, and I tried them and didn't like them. They have a muffled and a bit thin sound.

I use rather cheapo Sennheiser HD-200's. They have a dip at midrange response, which I hate, but they have a crisp fullbodied sound and an OK bass. Besides they are very durable and can take a lot of punishment.

  5. My first reaction was "This is great news!", but then I read on and - Astrix and GMS on Spiral Trax? Uh oh... Well, nowadays psy & progressive trance is a business and labels that want to be big have to have big names that sell.

  6. And to give you all some updates

I had contact with Christer a few days ago, and he has finished 4 tracks so far, 2 are almost finished, but still 3-4 to be made... So it took him longer as expected, because of that he doesn't dare to name a deadline...

I think you should as a label manager motivate your artists to work harder. (Read: Get the whip crackin'!)

J/k. :) Good things come to those who wait.

Hmm, his page says "I'm a trance artist in the groups RA and Electron Wave (and ex Dimension5). " So he still considers Electron Wave to exist? I wonder if there's any chance of a new album from them? That would be awesome. However I doubt it's going to happen in the near future at least, because he seems to be busy with other musical projects.

  7. Just ended up at his MySpace page and thought some here might want to learn more about him:

Edit: Ooops, he has multiple pages. Here's another one:

  8. Have you heard the new Cosmosis album? It's melodic but not cheesy, I really love it and for me it quite fits your description.

And about the melodies in general: also prog is more melodic than it used to be. I really love stuff like Vibrasphere - Archipelago or Flowjob - Support Normality but I still can't stand the old psy-prog, sounds all the same to me.

No I haven't heard it yet, but I've been meaning to check it out. I didn't like the last couple of Cosmosis albums, because they were too cheesy (or playful if you prefer) and too fullon. He has great talent but I think his music nowadays is too... uh, accessible. :)

At any rate, I hope the going in the scene gets more melodic in the future.

  9. While their first two albums were a bit immature IMO, Drive is great. I got it dirt cheap & still sealed from Japan two years ago. I wish they'd make a comeback. There can never be too much quality tech trance.

  10. Usually I wouldn't even consider naming the best track/band/movie/whatever ever, but in this case I'm going to make an exception. IMO the best psy trance track ever is Psychopod - Psychopod. It is an outstanding piece of music and it arouses amazing feelings in me. When I hear it, I feel relaxed and I think how much wisdom and "vision" there is in it, kind of like all the core things that make up human life (emotions, "laws" of human life etc.).

    YMMV.

    Followed by

Hallucinogen - Space Pussy, Thugs in Tye Dye

    Astral Projection - Another World

    Dimension 5 - Beetlesnuff

    Pleiadians - Maia, Electra

    and many others
