Maybe you're right but I like to believe that some of the mods care to some extent what the members want.

You're right, it is ultimately mars' decision and it's true that Cinos was unable to abide by the rules set down. However... that's not to say we have to agree the decision and it's important that everyone has their say as hopefully it will lead to fewer bans in the future.

Did you first hear psytrance on mp3 or on a cd?

I'll ringing the cops, for real. -
What music are you listening to right now?

A fine selection, good fellow. -
Interesting. I might burn a few tracks to CD in both 320kbps and original 1411kbps, play them blind through my system and see if I can tell the difference.

CD, and it's been CD's ever since. -
If he wants to sit at his computer then that's up to him. As a smoker, should I be forced to quit because it's bad for me?

Good tune, Otto. After hearing the opening 30 seconds I genuinely didn't expect to like it but, no, it's really rather lovely. Gets especially good at around 4:30 and steadily builds in quality there on. Has a very hypnotic, enthralling and warm sound to it. Really nice and fuzzy. Shame about the bit-rate as it consequently sounds pretty thin but that's true of any 128 kbps recording.

It might have a little do do with that... but it has more to do with that. On a personal music player or PC speakers, sure, theyre virtually indistinguishable but on a good system the difference is clear. Surely you notice it, you're a musician/artist?

I've only ever downloaded one track and that was a promotional thingy. I guess I'm just too perfect a member of society... or maybe I find the quality rather shitty.

Why should he have changed his behaviour? Why should he have been anyone other than who he is? There are certain members here who, after showing their true colours, repeatedly apologise and standardise their behaviour and they are all the less because of it. Cinos stayed true to himself and suffered the consequences. I'll miss him on these boards but at the same time I'm pleased he didn't let anyone regulate his character. The whole episode reminds me of a stanza from a great Bukowski poem - The few that are different: they're soon eliminated by the police, their mothers, brothers and others, until all that's left is what we see. It's hard.

Cinos held many opinions that differed greatly from my own but I never found them particularly offensive and never witnessed any evidence to suggest he was a racist. It seems it's becoming increasingly difficult to make fun of races/religions without being labelled a racist or a xenophobic bigot. I sometimes call my Iranian friend a terrorist when I see her and ask how many virgins are waiting in heaven. Does that make me a racist?

A huge CD collection seems less and less appealing
Charlie replied to Cinos's topic in General Psytrance
The artists aren't really losing as the original owner who's copying the music has already paid for the music. -
That's precisely why the forum will miss him - he had a special knack of starting threads that got people discussing and debating. As for his opinions being moronic, I'd say refreshingly honest better sums them up.

I couldn't agree more. -
Well, it doesn't really evolve; just that you perceive more each time you listen to it but I know what you mean. It's a cracking album.

No, no, I'm not pointing any fingers. I'm merely voicing how ridiculous it is to ban someone for being negative. I mean, I appreciate this is mars' website and he pays to host it so ultimately has every right to decide who stays and who doesn't but I never thought Cinos overly negative or agressive. Indeed he generally came across as rather affable in my eyes. Sure, he had his moments but who doesn't. This place will suffer in his absence, of that I'm convinced. Unique characters are already in short supply.

I've often thought of burning my entire CD collection to blank CDRs and selling the originals as they'd probably fetch around a grand but I don't know... something keeps me from doing it. I think maybe I like looking at the inlays and artwork as they help draw you into the 'concept' of the album. -

Cheers Radi. I've been blowing up buses in Tel Aviv. -

hehe, fine by me. -
It's psy-trance and it's brilliant.

The new Shulman album. Have to say it's a little disappointing, not in a rubbish way but rather in a not-nearly-as-good-as-his-last-album way. -
Cinos has been banned for 12 months? Why? What did he do precisely? A sad day for psynews, make no mistake. Will overly cheerful and optimistic people receive bans too as they get to me far more than overly negative folk do?

No, the original on the Distance to Goa 2 compilation.
