  1. You also said "the only downside i know of it, it takes about 30 seconds to process before the song starts". That is a 30 second massive bump. That would make writing a track impossible for me. With my computer running Fruity on the same processor the starting of the thread asked I have to wait a mere 11 milliseconds. Its all because of having a proper sound card and ram.
  2. As a former fruity user myself I will say that probably your biggest issue is your soundcard. Improving this with a solid card and proper written drivers with improve your experience alot (I speak from experience on this on several different computers). Ram will also help you alot. Despite what some people are saying, your plugins and can and do load information into your RAM. How much depends on the plug in, but many read ahead of what is actually playing and that information has to get stored somewhere... as does all the info produces from the various open processes in whatever program you are using. I'd agree that 1 gig of ram is an ideal minimum (again I speak from experience). Your processor is plenty powerful enough (I run Cubase SX3 with no real problems on a 1.7 with 1 gig of RAM), but your soundcard will make or break any music software and adding ram will further improve your performance a lot.
  3. Don't forget the used side of things. Some hunting on Yahoo Auctions Japan and such can probably get you a Nord Lead or early Virus for the same price or less.
  4. I should be moving down to the Kanto area in Nov so it should be easy to hook up then I hope. Unrelated but here a short lo-fi clip from the Earth Energy Party of my live set. HERE
  5. I must say I'm a bit speechless by all the positive comments so far. I was hoping a few people would find something worthwhile here, but I'm shocked at how positive the feedback as been for the most part Anyways, in case anyone in Japan is in the area, I'll be playing two live sets (one downtempo, one trance) at Earth Energy in Yamanashi this weekend. The downtempo one will feature disc 1 of "The Long Walk Home" in its entirety and the trance set will have about half of disc 2, plus the first major playing of the title track from my next album "Symplicity" which I eluded to in the linear notes to "Chasing Raindrops" in. Being tied directly to the writing period for "The Long Walk Home" its basically a direct continuation on the trance side of things and clocks in at a mere 31 minutes For more info see HERE
  6. The Delta - Send In.. Send Back. Beautiful beautiful darkness....
  7. Give yourself to the Darkside (not to be confused with dark-psy...(de?))
  8. Strange. I know with Neptune's Garden we had at least one package sent to the US where the case got similarly smashed. Not sure if this is a US postal thing or what. (makes note to super bubble wrap packages to the US).
  9. Just a heads up that everyone who ordered directly from the PAR-2 sites' cds have now been shipped and should be arriving soon. Also I'm sure most of you have probably noticed, but I have a new track on this free downloadable comp HERE. (Possibly) Interesting trivia here is that that track originally started out as a joke remix of Skazi's "Hit N Run", although after a point I ended up throwing all the Skazi samples out and making it my own thing
  10. I bought it and finally got to use it some today. I must say I am pretty happy with it so far. I tried the demo a long time ago and it was very heavy on my CPU but this is running with no problems and it sounds great too. Here's a bit of a track I'm working on as we speak that uses it... http://www.par-2.com/choons/phoscyon%20bit.mp3
  11. For some reason right now as I read this, I keep thinking of all the labels a few years ago who replied to my demo CDs with comments like "nice stuff, if it sounded a bit more like GMS we might release it"....
  12. This was my start... http://www.discogs.com/release/111483
  13. I seem to recall that Ukiro doesn't have regular net access until late July right now.
  14. If you want country Posford than the obvious choice is this... http://www.discogs.com/release/258763
  15. Good luck man! I'm really envious of you that you can do this as such a step for me is impossible (damn visa regulations...).
  16. Hmmm, that's a tough question that really depends on the style and time. I will say that until recently, the Japanese psy-scene really focused too much on foreign artists too much so there were surprisingly few Japanese psy-artists. This has turned around a bit recently with labels like Elf Music now focusing on the new crop Japanese artists. I can't really pick a single best release ever but I the favorites that get into my cd player the most are probably: Old School: Joujouka - Joujouka (Tsuyoshi and Ubar Tmar) Experimental: Uni - Venus New School: Phi - Phinalizer Tech: KURO - Satisfaction As for the future, this is still quite a ways off, but I'd really recommend keeping an eye out for the Symphonics with 11 album that will come out eventually. Due to the sheer amount of tracks Symphonics had written to various stages of completion before he passed on, I don't expect this until later next year at the very earliest, but I have the stuff completed so far and it is seriously good.
  17. KURO - Revolution isn't too hard to find on Yahoo Auctions Japan. The first Uni album pops up there somewhat frequently as well. I'm also curious if Eigou Kaiki hasn't reprinted lately as when I was down in Tokyo last week I seemed to see it just about everywhere.
  18. Oh no!! This almost looks like hype developing... and we all know there is nothing more dangerous than hype!
  19. Yeah, It doesn't seem like it should be rare, but when I think about it, it was damn near impossible to find, even when it first came out. I find that price ironic though since on every copy I ever owned of it (I think 3 different ones, bought at different times all new) Dancing With Kadfi was unplayable due to squeezing too much time on the last side. The track would juxt skip and jump all over because the grooves were so shallow.
  20. Ain't that the truth. If an organizer asks me what the bpms of my trance tracks are for a live set now-a-days I simply say "about 145 on average" cuz if I tell them a large number of my tracks are around 140 and sometimes even as low as 120, they freak out and are like "hmmm, maybe it won't work on the mainstage". The irony is that if you have a bit of a beatless intro and then shift into these tracks noone notices the difference anyways and often the crowd is going at it harder in these tracks because they aren't having to "sprint" so hard in the dance department.
  21. PM sent. Although just for the record you can use Paypal at the PAR-2 site (www.par-2.com) and the cost is $13 (shipping anywhere in the world included)
  22. Support Group? Hmmm, Discogs maybe, although we seem to support our habits there and not support the stopping of them Anyways, if you really want the CD and happen to be a Paypal user you could pm me your address and I'll mail you a copy and then just pay when you get the cash in.
  23. Yeah, my next album will be called "Pirate Killaargh". cangrejo: Glad you enjoyed the album. You don't have to feel you need to do anything though as it was a gift (hell, if we are honest this thread alone is probably more than enough in terms of promotion). Anything else you think about or do in the future is just a bonus. As for the album itself, yeah ALOT of stuff happened in the year and a half I spent writing it and it was basically my outlet during those times.
  24. Nice. I obviously know the first track, but I'm listening to the rest as we speak.
