  1. I am noobish at making tunage, but I have been playing around with some cracy VSTs lately. some of the best one being free.

    Glitch:

This vst can be downloaded for free as its a beta or something. Just copy the dll into your vst directory and use it as an effect. You can get some cracy stuff on here. Make a HIGHKO tune in 60 seconds.

    Absynth 4.

Although this is mainly for ambient shit, this is still one of my favourite VSTS. rich beautiful sounds. awesome shit.

    Albino 3.

Nuff said, this is also a great VST

    Nexus.

One of the best for making psytrance basslines.

  2. I have a friend who is versed in "electronic" music and he commonly lumps most electronic "trance" into one genre. I have been trying to explain to him what the differences are between that of normal trance [i.e. progressive, anthem, dream, hard, tech, etc...] and goa/psy and I've fallen short. Even providing clear examples of the music, ranging from that of the 90's and more modern, and he fails to recognize the difference. If you had to summarize goa/psy sounds, layering, instruments, meoldy/harmony, etc... and the like, how would you explain the differences? I mean maybe I'm biased as to the discernable differences between the sub-genres of trance, but how would you describe it? I've tried explaining on a very musically technical level pertaining to beat, scale harmonics, etc.. but that just washes over him as he isn't musically trained. He loves the music I give him, but he doesn't really understand the nuance. How would you explain the differentiable sound to someone who isn't as understanding of the sub-genres of trance? Let me know how you'd best let someone like this understand the differences. Thanks in advance.

If your friend cant tell the difference between Goa/Psy and club trance maybe he needs his hearing checked.

  3. I woke up like any other morning and walking around I noticed a picture I drew. When the word "trip" came to mind instantly it threw me back to the most intense dream ever. Last night I had this dream where my friend and I took loads and loads of acid. 2000ug. For some reason I wasn't as scared as I would normally be to do this...

Belong long I began tripping, heavily. It felt pretty authentic too. Im sure some of you will know when I say "blackhole gravity-style vibrations". It was really cool. In this altered state I became aware that I was completely baked from all the acid and this dream was just an instense drug induced hallucination. I knew my body was off somewhere else, completely mullered on acid, probably in bed.

I saw things in a different way this morning.

I then composed this lame, 39 second long track. After listening to this shit loop over 100+ times, I just sort of gave up on it. Like a lot of things in my life.

It took 20 minutes to create this. It doesnt have an intro, or a body and the end just trails off suddenly. Like a child-slave being trailed behind a 4x4 through a broken glass factory at 80bpm, it will horrify you with its standard fruityloops VST's and it's cheesy chorus. The complexity will explode your head and leave nothing but a blood-gyser. Its melodies will drag your shredded corpse through a 20 second gravel-track made out of corse sea salt crystals and manuver it into a brick wall, which kills you upon impact. You twitches for a few seconds and then shit yourself. Thats how bad it is.

    Enjoy.

  4. Yet again, NHJO stuns us all with another genre-shifting, sonic-hyperdrive of beautifully orchestrated sounds and a possible glimpse into the future of electronic music. NHJO manages to create majectic, yet driving and truly epic dancefloor vapourisers that will get any crowd around the world tearing up dancefloors in a sweat-drenched frenzy.

Having moved in a more sublte, yet still driving and intense direction with his music, NHJO manages to capture the very essence of what makes us want to dance in the first place. Catchy, yet never cheesy riffs and solid, driving basslines. This interwoven with truly epic and uplifting melodies he also manages to grab any crowd by the balls and just force them into a ephoric and transendential state of mind, elevating our consciousness and bringing us all together as one.

It's almost hard to believe he hasn’t got a record deal yet.

  5. Brilliant set dude, always digged your stuff hectic.

On an unrelated note, you were in my dream last night for some reason. You were one of many evaluators on this weird "life and self-worth" course I was on. I was in a room with loads of other people, and I scored the lowest for personality and highest for generally being a cunt. Needless to say I rather unhappy and told everyone to go fuck themselves (probably proving their point). Not you though, for some reason. You were also sitting in front of some weird massive triangular plasma TV. with weird hyroglyphics on it.

I had been drinking for 3 days straight when I had this dream though...

  6. Stop blaming IM for "evolving". I'm not saying their new stuff is better, but just that more of CM and TG would be recycled shit.

Why not respect them for experiment new stuff (show me one band that gambled so hard on an album so different from typical psytrance like Converting Vegetarians)

True, IM have shown they CAN make really good psytrance (B.P Empire being my personal favourite). If they decided to not make a specific type of music, then that's their right as artists. I dont particularly like their new style but thats my opinion. The production is excellent, I just dont like the music. And that is not their problem. It's my problem.

They are very good actually. It's just not my cup of tea. Five out of five for effort though :)

  7. Hey guys was just down to the local shopping market... was a reasonably big one (like 2 story) but still... I went down to HMV and saw Infected mushroom cds under BEST SELLER in the dance section! Went down and bought a copy of The Gathering and Classic Mushroom but there was also Vicous Delicous(Vicous Delicous was hidden from view actually... and I'm suprised only one copy... perhaps we don't like it here?), 2 copies of converting vegetarians and another The gathering box there (as well as a empty slot where B.P. Empire had been)... suffice to say I didn't expect that when I walked into the store. Was a bit expensive but I'm certainly happy anyway... I also saw 1200 mics-Magic Numbers (yuck) and a Tristran Album...

Well you don't see that every day. Well I'm recomending that shop to anyone whos buying edm cds certainly. Well I'm defenitly supporting that shop... have any of you guys seen and bought Psytrance/Goa Trance cds in stores?

Yeah totally. In HMV in Tottenham Court in London (a massive CD shop) you can pick up loads of Psytrance CD's . Im sure ive even seen a few Psytrance vinyls.

  8. i mean going from genius to absolute shite must have an impact on the persons/personalities.

Well. lets be fair. "Technically", their production is superb. They know their shit.

It's just their idea of "music" doesnt exactly gel with mine.
