No, don't get me wrong Reason IMO is still an amazing work enviorment, and with version 3 they have added more options for mastering sound. As for the plug's if you are looking to get cracking on VST you can hook it up with ACID via the re-wire no problem. As for Logic... top notch stuff for sure, but windows support has been dropped, so unless you are using mac the options are limited more and more everyday. I guess all that remains in the middle these days is Cubase... eh

it is ineteresting but is definatelly lacking some action on the higher frequencies... I would strongly advise you to get the V.A Wild Rumpus your sound is right about that alley i just wrote the review for it, you can find it in my sig... as for Reason there something definatelly ubiquitous about the sound output, is probably to do with redrum patches... (are ussing version 2 ?) it would probably be a good idea to switch to cubase i've been hearing some pretty good stuff coming out from that app. Example in case Clicki hearrr

Halcyon by Orbital is a no brainer... ti's not psy, there is this Deep Forrest song they made as homage or something to Global Communication (that ancient IDM project), i've googled it and checked it discog's for a name but i can't find it. It's just has deep... drum on top of kids softly chanting the most tear-dripping melody i've heard... I don't have my old cd's with me they're in storage in another continent so i can't check for that right now I bought exclusively for my last journey into the realms of consciousness... It was 6:30 in the morning, i was all alone sitting on the whitest sand this land can offer looking up at a perfect caribbean-sea. i'd been trippin my balls off all night on two strong... strong... i mean strong blotters and finally things were starting dissipate... The birdies where circling the headphones were on, the sun is coming up... and theres tears coming off my eyes... one of the most powerful experiences i can recall... not feeling like repeating it either... don't thik my sanity could take it eitherway...

If you are finding it increasingly difficult to differentiate from one artist to another these days, you are not alone. The creative stagnation is over from the first song. For starters, there is a crazy Serbian Dwarf behind the sequencing window creating some truly captivating work in “Continuum”. The first half of the tune is a steady progression with original drum work vibrating with organic beats and hypnotic effects. The second half arrives in the break as the synth’s intertwine with an arpeggio peaking to the heavens fused in myriad noises. Before the sonic madness starts to loose cohesion, from the back an awe-inspiring mellody slaps you in all its tuneful glory. * The Misted Muppet - Photos of Ghosts This is one twisted tune. It literally feels like someone curled it up a few times and spat it back. It is borderline scary to the degree of being highly enjoyable. Freaky sounds, interesting samples tweaked with god-knows-what as the riffs and melodies switch back and forth between jarring discordia and harmonious distortion. The groundwork remains powerful and encompassing as every frequency on the equalizer lingers glued to the top. * Xatrik - Play This Tune Picking up the pace of the compilation with a relentless bass line and original effects in minimal fashion “Play this tune” is designed to get you going. In effective accord with the sub-melodies and gliding samples zooming from the left to right like a fighter jet. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure they sampled that that at one point or another too. This one gets brownie points for the hilarious sample of Homer Simpson playing the Xylophone (for a second or two, no harm done). Mind you it’s not the only time they do so in this release. Max – Eternal shows us some “Max Power” as well. * Proteus – Parasight Parasight offers a complex interaction of sounds and melodies glued together with energetic kicks, included the heavenly voice samples and the flamenco guitars like Pop Stream (in “Fuego en la Rumba” showcased in Time and Space Part 3) could only hope to arrange. It is funky but, not pop-ish and highly psychedelic on the senses. Proteus’ talent is literally overflowing out of this song that remains on the progressive side without being ostentatious. What really strikes a chord with me here might be the Drugless name. Like already mentioned this is close to ridiculous. Who the hell wants to listen to drugless producers??? seriously, i would EXPECT my artists to go and cosume a healthy dose psychedelics before they go anywhere near the equipment. as long as they can differentiate the keyboard from the piano, we're good. That is what this music is made for... if you disagree the church band always has openings. and if they do consume... whatever... like is probably the case and you're advertising otherwise you might be doing business with the wrong PR agency...

Ha i was just thinking the same thing "fukin machines" and 'toys just wanna have fun' are probably MY highlights of the album. I didin't find myself listening to it too much after the first couple of weeks though. Which is not the artists fault, is just personal tastes i guess.

have to agree great great chill selection from a talented artist. Safe with the older generation with the girlfriend, in the car, after a night out, or with small company... very enjoyable

Dancing Devil, alternative control, electro sun, menog, lish, aero-link, elec3, tristan, sun control species, smugh, the comercial hippes, mandylion, protoculture are all very 'morning' stuff. Hydro-generator and tube just came out & might be of your liking too... Do not miss out vibrasphere, and Ticon though

From an asociate reviewer over at Sonic-Energy.net go check it out Compilation: Lost Souls Depot Label: Temple Twisters Records Format: CD Format: Country: India Year: 2005 Before you even take the CD out of the case there are a few clues that this compilation has zero fluffy intent. There's that cover for a start, grinning statues en-masse taunting you from a nightmare landscape. Then there is the fact that the whole thing was mastered by Xenomorph, the fact that the BPM’s printed next to the tracks don't drop below 146 is another clue as are the track names themselves "Psycho Wars", "Doctor Satan"...Astrix this is not kiddies, this has the feel of an album that wants to kill you. Starting out with the phenomenal “Lost Souls Depot” from Kerosense Club (146 BPM on G m), your suspicions are confirmed as a voice in the intro half chants half moans over delicious acid squirts and squelches and a bass line rumbling straight from Satan’s stomach after a night on tequila and Stella. Don't let yourself think that this somehow means the track isn't groovy though as it bounces along and just dares you not to move to it. Truly psychedelic madness with a "killer klown" thrown in for good measure. The next track is Smigle by Kemical (150 BPM on E m) which goes a little too far into darkness for my tastes and the bass line is a little too impenetrable, although if you want to give your dance floor a real scary night then this is the tune to do it. The next few tunes storm along in real groovy night time style, "Doctor Satan" (Wizard Lizard at 146 BPM on F #m) buzzes sounds around you like a swarm of invisible insects meanwhile a foundation of solid bassline and bouncy acid tweaks ensure your body knows exactly what to do and this vibe is continued through Noise Poison (Highko vs. Kulu 148 BPM on A #m), Wipped Out and Psycho Wars (Cosmo at 150 BPM on C #m). All this is followed up by a real highlight, Naked Tourists' Bomb the Bay edit of “As Well As U Dance” (at 147 BPM’s on G #m) - in my first draft of this review against this tune I just wrote "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!" which sums it up "do you fuck as well as you dance" then the whole thing explodes. This tune deserves to get hammered out a lot. How do you follow that? Well Toxic (with “Splitminds” at 146 BPM’s on G m) does a decent job throwing disorientating sounds around in unmusical-yet-musical fashion. Some little guitar samples remind you quite how far removed from "normal music" this whole experience is, and it works well. To round things off Winter Demon brings “No Rules” (146 BPM’s on G m) to the table, which on any other compilation would be the most extreme standard, yet here it's actually having the effect of easing you out and down. Seroxat - Disorientation (Wizard Lizard Remix) Everything except the Halo's chanting monks in the background coming back now and again. They could have done away with that part from the original song, but that’s personal taste. This is a powerful composition and you feel the spiking from Wizard Lizard on the ‘groundwork’ like it’s the Pavarti standard fast and fat. The original song was released last year on the compilation “Oerebro Freak Factory” from Stone Age records. Nice driving full on with the Ph levels brought down a few notches from the norm. Grapes Of Wrath - I Dunno remix Monno Wurtz and Jaffa Skouborg like to twiddle out ‘Ultra Spankadelic Power’ Trance, of the magnetic type. This might be a new personal favorite. The whole song is full of strange turns where the only constant might be the hallucinogenic feel of every note and effect. Equipped with an assortment of cartoon-ish samples banging now and again, to keep things light. In the lower end of the frequency ranges we find the usual machine-gun blasting drum work and bass, how else could it sound at 147 BPM's?. It seems like everything in this tune has been amplified for a psychedelic sensory overload, having its output polished like Faberge. Final words? Kalumet - Koyote The most interesting sample has to be the crazy hum of a Tibetan monk in mid meditation with a didgeridoo-type of distortion on top of a coyote howl. In the ground work, beats and some nice drumming action keeping the pace. It's true psychedelic juiciness. What's really interesting is the guitar, or a sitar passed through a wah-wah effect, just buzzing by the mid tone in a strangely pink floid-ish way now and again. Interesting tune to say the least. The Osmotic Effect Vs. Cydata & Roberto - Pure Reality The label residents sequencing a fine example of rich vibrant drum work like it’s been the standard in his compilation. Morning / progressive sounds pounding with a bit of fluff, but not too much too damage to the ear. You can tell there is a background in ambient production, appealing more to the progressive trance, making it good material for the genre. Robert - Groovebuchse Robert is riding a unique wave of psychedelic twisters (in the likes of Golikem with his debut Atmadelica last year), with not much concern for the present-day standards of production but, a clear techno background and deep kicks spinning like a merry-go-round swinging back and forth. The flow picking up mid song, with what you ask? This can-crunching sound added with the drinking sounds buzzing since the beginning. It seems like an epilog of the guy having a can of fizzy stuff & trashing it. As a direct concern of this topic of finding the best among the new rest , A number of psy addicts and myself are trying to filter as much of the "new stuff' that happens to strike a chord with us, it don't matter if it's slightly progressive or the full on stuff, or morning... or really twisted...we try to avoid cheese as much as the next person, but is about pulling out quality from the pile... regardless of the genre... and while we grow bigger and create sub-genre divisions, the only constant is quality. go check it for yourself, you might find yourself agreeing with one cd and disagreeing with the next.. but everything featured in it's own right should be heard at least once. so check it out http://sonic-energy.net/
