  1. Psy : Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy (I don't know if i would have undertsood psytrance if i hadn't heard it)

Non Psy : (too difficult, just what came to mind) Queen - Princess of the Universe.

  2. God I hate these "best of" topics.  Taste is taste and no one will ever agree.  And how can anyone list the best of the best?  There's so much good music made (and even more crap). I would never be able to say what's best. It all depend on the musical mood I am in at the given moment and my personal taste.  It's just as lame as those polls where people vote for the best DJ, moviestar, sexiest android etc etc.  It just give a picture of people's personal taste at that particular moment. Not really of what's best because there's is not such a thing as best when it come to a general over-all "result".  It's all what the individual person feel at the given moment and can change 10 minutes later.

I disagree, i don't think music (and many other stuff u mention) is all about taste.

People may be different but they also have many things in common and both these aspects are eQually remarkable.

For example, i think that the best album of 2004 was Colours by Son Kite. I was happy when i found that some people here agreed wih me, that we somehow connect and feel the same in spite of living in different parts of the world. None of my friends listens to this kind of music and the only way for me to share my views is through this forum and these threads (and this goes for many others too). If you find it lame is like a friend told you : "Hey man i found this album really good" and you reply "Fuck off lamer, why the fuck do you bother me, music is all about taste".

I also think that there is such a thing as best. The only problem here is that many albums ,especially from the "golden era" reached the "best" level and it is difficult to pick one. Im sure that mos people here place the mentioned albums at least on the "way above above average" level.

You said that noone will ever agree. But most of the posts here have at least one common album. ;)

  3. yes , i agree... same happened with full-on...

but i wouldnt say Astral P - Amen was really minimal...   maybe a bit fullonish... and i am sure their new album will be even worse  <_<

    anywayz...

btw, any news about upcoming ETHEREAL album? will there be any?

Yep, i agree. But what started with minimal, continiued with full on, only this time full on is easier to reach "wider crowds".

And regarding AP, no, Amen was not minimal, but it tried to be in some parts (like the track Technodrome) which i found pretty lame. They tried to go with the flow and against their own selves (as many other artists did) and ofcourse they failed.

    ;)

  4. yes i didnt talk about minimal.i just said i dont think it's minimal that is to blame for psychedelic goa falling into coma... rather than commercilisation<--->wider audience<--> full-on music

Imo when the minimal movement startes all psytrance artists lost their identity and originality, they all produced minimal. Listen to Astral Projection - Amen album. Even AP made one or two minimal tracks (I still remember the reviews on the old reviews section praising Technodrome as the best track on the album - i always laugh when i read it). Or is it a coincidence that in another topic the best Etnica album was NOT Nitrox?

My point is that when they all found out that minimal was popular, they all started producing it, even if it wasnt what they really wanted to do. Im sure you agree that this isn't the essence of art. Well, if this isn't the cause of every commercialisation, then what is it?

  5. i would say the full-on movement in general... not talking about early stuff classified as full-on [ e.g Full on Vol 2 etc ], but gms stuff & skazi & ~Killargh" stuff.

commercialisation, in a few words. money.

I didn't understand you. What has full on (early or not) got to do wih minimal? Minimal was before any kind of full on.

  6. PS: So how is it so many of you have heard Juggeling Alchemists? I haven't been able to find a copy anywhere in years, and that includes saikosounds, psyshop, amazon.co.uk, etc.. I really want to hear that album and not being able to find it anywhere, it's like it doesn't exist. Anyone know why this album is so rare or where it may be available?

It is a very rare album indeed, very old. I think that was their first, not Alien Protein.

We 've heard it because we downloaded it. Im sure nobody would mind downloading an album so old which is out of the maket for a long time.

And btw, i heard Alien Protein in 2001-02 for the first time. True masterpieces never sound "dated".

  7. Alien Protein is the best for me. Second comes Equator and Juggeling Alchemists Under The Black Light (though totally different styles). I love the chill tracks in Nitrox (the rest is crap) and Plastic E.P. (some of their best tracks there). I also liked True Protoss Warrior (maybe because i was a starcraft fan when i was younger).

  8. I dont know if anybody ever noticed the similarity between X-dream - Panic In Paradise and Logic Bomb - Neighbour of The Beast. They seem to share the exact same melody despite the huge chronical gap of their releases. Can someone else confirm this, because at some point i think i might have done an error on the mp3 files name or something.
