  1. why is the psytrance scene so obssessed with innovation, and what do they mean by it?

Imo, it's prety simple actually. If you have tons of released albums every month which sound the same more or less, then you seek for innovation.

Stylistic and technological innovations are not the only ones. We are talking about different structure, patterns, sounds etc. It isn't necessary to involve other genres or be technologically advanced.

I haven't heard the AMD album though, so i can't tell.

  2. worked the same for me... couldnt stand etnica, then one day i listened to their 3 first albums. then listened once more.

i didnt know why i never saw the brilliance before - such a weird feeling!

this has happened to me many times with some artists in the past.

  3. To be honest, i didn't expect an event like this in greece this summer. It was about time to have a quality event in our country. The lineup is great. If nothing serious happens (like a crash of a meteorite or a giant tsunami etc), i ll most likely be there :P

As for the price, 60 euros seems ok (as long as there are cheap beers :D)

anywayz, good luck with the fest ;)

  4. Depends on what you are studying..

If it's some math or physics, then I prefer silence. Otherwise...

I would say the opposite :D I prefer listening to music when i study maths and psysics. For stuff which i need to memorize, i prefer silence. The thing is, i'm always bored to study so i always listen to music when studying, and i think it keeps me more focused. Maybe thats why my performance isn't so good :P

  5. Any hippie who becomes a yuppie wasn't a full-fledged hippie to begin with. Real hippies are rare, and I don't think many exist in our scene. Maybe more in the Grateful Dead/Phish scene. Our scene is about technology, and you can't have technology without money. And you can't have money without a job. Hence...yuppie.

I don't know the meaning you give to the word yuppie. I'm not so familiar with it either. But i don't think only the fact that you have a job qualifies you as a yuppie.

  6. Actually there have been quite afew cd's that would have been nice but have been ruined by lack of technicsal skill, and I was talking just of sound quality.. for examply the second album by Muses Rapt had a number of musical errors made, and this by far reduced the wquality of the album... whereas an album that has excellent techical skills both in sound production and also in music production knowledge can steal be very appeling as whole package, even if it is a style that doesn't quite appeal to you 100% I have respect for a lot of musicians in this genre and many other, not because I love thier type of music, but because they have talent and technical skill.. and I don't beleive that just because a cd or a trac kis mastered by a professional it makes ia tecnically good album... if this was so then how would people be able to tell teh difference between a truely talented musician and your every day bedroom producer?

Okay, i also respect technical skills. I dopn't know if i get your point exactly, but all i want to say is this : if there is no creativity, those skills are wasted.

  7. I think this was the journey man's argument. That the technical skills nowadays are great but some great music in the past was ruined by poor skills.

Well, if that is the case, then i disagree. Imo, the "low quality" sound of the past made those tracks what they were. I believe that if someone really wants to make a track with the "old-school feeling", he must use the equipment of that time. That's one of the reasons i believe the old days will never come back, as we knew them that is.
