worked the same for me... couldnt stand etnica, then one day i listened to their 3 first albums. then listened once more.
i didnt know why i never saw the brilliance before - such a weird feeling!
this has happened to me many times with some artists in the past.

starlancer, for you my friend:
ofcourse i don't care man. Let me at least have some fun out of it
-
Yea, but he stated Let it RIP, 10 years ago. Maybe in the meantime he changed his mind
Honestly, i don't have a clue what Suzuki has in mind, and i don't know if i care. The whole thing leads us nowhere.
Or maybe everywhere???
-
or you can be all philosophical about it and...
maybe it's going everywhere, but not somewhere?
-
It says psytrance is going nowhere, not that its dead. Theres a difference.

Voted for the Younger Brother album. It really took some time to grow on me.

Star Sounds Orchestra - New Lura (Mercury)
What a magical ambient journey!

To be honest, i didn't expect an event like this in greece this summer. It was about time to have a quality event in our country. The lineup is great. If nothing serious happens (like a crash of a meteorite or a giant tsunami etc), i ll most likely be there
As for the price, 60 euros seems ok (as long as there are cheap beers )
anywayz, good luck with the fest

There is one track i always have for trips, especially for trips that involve sun and sea : Jaia - Mai Mai

Depends on what you are studying..
If it's some math or physics, then I prefer silence. Otherwise...
I would say the opposite I prefer listening to music when i study maths and psysics. For stuff which i need to memorize, i prefer silence. The thing is, i'm always bored to study so i always listen to music when studying, and i think it keeps me more focused. Maybe thats why my performance isn't so good

Wow, Nemo, thanks for sharing. Finally a new LSG album

Moreover, Asura will play live in Athens on february, the 16th 2007 at Underworld club, with Aes Dana (live act and mix) and Mahiane (mix).

Any hippie who becomes a yuppie wasn't a full-fledged hippie to begin with. Real hippies are rare, and I don't think many exist in our scene. Maybe more in the Grateful Dead/Phish scene. Our scene is about technology, and you can't have technology without money. And you can't have money without a job. Hence...yuppie.
I don't know the meaning you give to the word yuppie. I'm not so familiar with it either. But i don't think only the fact that you have a job qualifies you as a yuppie.

Bastard. That's a tough choise. I voted for Chi-Ad, because if there is one psy track i could rate as my No1, that's Exit Eternity. Moreover Chi-Ad was one of the few artists that kept their "sound" until today.
-
At first i thought the title was "So i died for the first time last night, it's not that hard"
-
That's a shame!
I think having listened to oldschool for close to 13 years I am much more open to new styles.
I still love oldschool but try not to limit myself to it
Don't get me wrong, i too am open to other stuff. It's just that an old-school party here and there wouldn't hurt.
-
neither did i
Too many old-school virgins here (including myself)
-
This place has tons of stuff (not only for psytrance though) www.jamendo.com/en/. You just need time to discover all the good ones

I miss the "hardware" sound. The dirty, acid sound of a 303 and those deep, magnificent trance leads.
It would be a cool project if someone would try to make a track using old hardware only. It's a pain in the ass, but it will be worth it.

I have reasons to believe that the worst psytrance year will be the year 2525.

Actually there have been quite afew cd's that would have been nice but have been ruined by lack of technicsal skill, and I was talking just of sound quality.. for examply the second album by Muses Rapt had a number of musical errors made, and this by far reduced the wquality of the album... whereas an album that has excellent techical skills both in sound production and also in music production knowledge can steal be very appeling as whole package, even if it is a style that doesn't quite appeal to you 100% I have respect for a lot of musicians in this genre and many other, not because I love thier type of music, but because they have talent and technical skill.. and I don't beleive that just because a cd or a trac kis mastered by a professional it makes ia tecnically good album... if this was so then how would people be able to tell teh difference between a truely talented musician and your every day bedroom producer?
Okay, i also respect technical skills. I dopn't know if i get your point exactly, but all i want to say is this : if there is no creativity, those skills are wasted.
-
I think this was the journey man's argument. That the technical skills nowadays are great but some great music in the past was ruined by poor skills.
Well, if that is the case, then i disagree. Imo, the "low quality" sound of the past made those tracks what they were. I believe that if someone really wants to make a track with the "old-school feeling", he must use the equipment of that time. That's one of the reasons i believe the old days will never come back, as we knew them that is.
-
But isn't it nice when the good music sounds good?
& isn't it horrible when music you know ahould be good but sounds shit due to shitty technical skills?
imo, this is a rare occasion since most albums are mastered by profesionals nowadays.
-
the technical skills over the last years in this scene have amazed me... the complexity of sounds and quality is huge!
Who cares about the technical skills. Thre is good and there is bad music, it's simple.
innovation

Imo, it's prety simple actually. If you have tons of released albums every month which sound the same more or less, then you seek for innovation.
Stylistic and technological innovations are not the only ones. We are talking about different structure, patterns, sounds etc. It isn't necessary to involve other genres or be technologically advanced.
I haven't heard the AMD album though, so i can't tell.
