  1. It's funny how perceptions differ...

    ...

Don't know though, but Boards Of Canada and Autechre are acts I do not really fancy.

True, our perceptions differ quite enough :). By the way I wouldn't call Sending Orbs IDM or even IDM'ish . I also disagree about lack of innovation since 1994, e.g check Beefcake or Gridlock for example, especially the first.

Or check Igorrr, crazy french guy that produces idm/breakcore/classical(baroque)/death metal

  2. I haven't listened to it yet, but it's not surprise for me IMO. SA psy is by far the best subgenre of psytrance after the golden period of Goa. It's also the only genre that evolve through the years, but never lost its quality.

Suomi, tech-trance are definitely better IMO ;)

  3. Well as it relates specifically to a reply I made on the thread, which although asinine had a valid point.

Namely charging 75 Euros for 3 secondhand CDs. I merely commented that the seller seemed to be either someone

feeding a crack habit or a bread head.

    :D

Too bad posts like these get deleted IMO :\

Mods stop playing your role more serious than you should ;)

  4. Dang, I thought Tales... was awful (except for Dorset Perception, which I've listened to a million times). It's like a keyboard wizard trying to make world music. I liked a couple of tracks from the first album, or at least a few bits from a couple of tracks, mainly the step-sequenced voices.

    +1

  5. Very true! People saying that it just sounded like a mix earlier pioneers, surely haven't really listen to that album (not only referring to Elysium and LvB) and especially not when it came out. I remember at that time it was indeed ground-breaking!

True , but too bad The Gathering is the only album of them that I really like. I find all the rest dull and boring

  6. as i see it, IM took the style of AP, MFG, Indoor, also Nervasystem, Slide and others, and then simply added some sort of pop music approach. and voila, there you have the unique IM sound.

Well that's not true for their debut album The Gathering (which is the only I enjoy enough. However I will give Classical Mushroom and Converting Vegetarians a few more tries)

  7. An interesting program that I download a few months ago might help a bit as well: http://stereopsis.com/flux/

It adjusts the 'warmth' of your monitor according to the time, which makes it less bright when it's dark outside. It's free and easy and you're used to it very frequently. Might just help the slightest bit. :)

For the first minute it seemed weird but I got used to it pretty fast. Very relaxing!

  8. Then we can conclude that IM in reality is no more unique than any other artist with an recognizable sound. And by that the claim that they were pioneers etc. fall to the ground :)

Well for me some of the names I mentioned above are considered pioneers in a way - some less, some more-

  9. Then I expect all those who call IM unique to call every other artists who have an easy recognizable sound as being unique ;)

Yeah e.g for me MFG, Prana , AmaniteFX, Astral Projection , Pleiadians, Psychaos etc all are unique
