"Lokayatikas" is a terrific tune!

It does take a lot of work and time to gain the technical knowledge to harness your synths, to use fully a computer sequencer, to mix the instruments, and to develop your creativity. I think minimalist doesn't necessarily mean "bad", as I like some tunes that are minimalist e.g. , however, I do prefer maximalist music where you get lost among all that is going on within the tune. You're talking about new school...For me, most of new school if full-on music with basically a kick drum and a bass line. There isn't much goa trance creation nowadays, compared to new-school psytrance. And I agree then, that minimal psytrance music is not very creative, emotional or attractive. It reminds me disposable music created quickly in bulk, that is aired on the radio.

You made my day I think goa trance is the most difficult and varied electronic music out there, be it sounds and melodies. Take a look at for instance, and pay attention to all sound evolutions, background sounds progressing and coming back & forth, all special effects. It takes a huge amount of time to compose and iron out imperfections, not to mention a tune is 8-10 minutes long. I think you are kidding. Composing a goa trance takes more than an afternoon, compared to some other minimal electronic genres.

Soundcard for Laptop
Goa Travellers replied to psyhoe's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Is the quality of your laptop soundcard really bad? I'm asking because I guess you need to buy really high-end equipment to see a significant difference. Here no difference between my desktop MOTU24i/o quality and my Asus laptop onboard soundboard in terms of hum or distorsion. -
Where does this lead come from?
Goa Travellers replied to Goa Travellers's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
OK, if you happen to find the settings, please tell me. BTW, I was searching for nice presets for my Alpha Juno 2 and I found out how to create the Hoover sound (very popular in hardcore techno), but this is useless to share in this forum (ah, that Thunderdome time when I used to like hardcore and gabba!!). In the mid 90's, goa trance replaced it right away! I can't get enough of your signature video, just too funny -

Throaty sound

Yeah...I guess the waveform is critical too...I'd be glad to know what original waveform was used before shifting phases. -

How do you get organized?
Goa Travellers replied to Goa Travellers's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Hey guys, I was wondering...How do you manage with all your cables if you have hardware gear? My home studio is a real mess with all these cables (power, midi, audio, USB, firewire), and so many transformers and power strips...It's daunting, and my wife doesn't like that mess either! I'm thinking about creating single cables that would encompass midi in, midi out, and audio. Power cable has to be separate. For power cables, I'm thinking about putting all these power strips and transformers in a box somehow. Not sure how yet, though...Any suggestions? -
Throaty sound

Thanks for the answer, I didn't think about comb filtering, indeed! -
Hi guys, Any idea how to create a throaty sound such as the one playing the main melody here? Thanks!

The lead in Infected mushroom - Franks
Goa Travellers replied to stensoup's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
You can achieve this with an SH-101 sawtooth + distorsion. Other similar synths could do the job too. -
BTW, same instrument here

@lmba: I see what you mean...I'm not sure Latest Bass was used as a basis, although it reminds it. Maybe it was passed through a high-pass filter, as suggested by cod, with moderate resonance. Sherman FilterBank? Just guessing here...

And here's a variation

Here's my take with a 4/4 kick, and just the bass line
