  1. apparently the only difference between aiff and wav is the header: http://www.teamcombooks.com/mp3handbook/12.htm pcm = pcm.
  2. great stuff....no criticism, shame its only 128kps and faded twice at the end ... proggy just the way i like it.
  3. i recently discovered that there isnt a difference, i always knew they were both pcm, but they seem to be totaly identical. just a matter of the extention i guess... try changing the name of a wav file to aiff, youll discover it still plays...
  4. Hey Jikkenteki, i phoned a friend today and we discoverd that my midi gate is buggy, works for him... the only setting according to him to get the "midi note lenth" = "gate hold time" is "hold mode" set to "note-off" . this doesnt work with my version. another funny thing is, and i find this very weird, that when i click the steinberg icon on the gate to get infos, the release time gets even longer...??? i guess its just a bug... my version of the gate is 1.0 2001.
  5. well Jikkenteki, the main weakness is the fact that the hold time is fixed by the envelope generator of the gate, i find this a real drawback. imo the hold time should be triggerd an held as long as the midi note.
  6. try "advanced midi gate".... it has some bugs, but its definitely better than cubases midi gate.... http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1058.html
  7. ill send your love to them, mabe well meet up to, could pm just beforehand if you like
  8. thanks Pr0fane, really cant wait for the festival season to begin, i was there last year and we did have a "blast" ....
  9. well as far as i know wavelab is for post production and editing, try using a software that is made for multitracking, i.e. cubase, logic, cakewalk etc....

  11. maybe you could also try "Sonic Syndicate TB1 Talkbox", it does vowels on vocals and other audio material. i couldnt find it to download anywhere though, it was freeware that came with a music mag a couple of years ago. and it doesnt seem to be on the sonic syndicate site.... good luck finding it....

  13. just found this page: http://www.modezero.com/ there are some sound clips of some classic flangers and phasers. unfortunately the "bf 20" doesend have a sound clip on this page just a pic...
  14. try the "bel bf 20" very old but quite neat, as far as i remamber, havent used it in years.
  15. have you connected the input of your audio card to aux 1 or 2, im asking this because only aux 2 seems to be prefade. if not then connect to aux 2 because this will prevent feedback while recording, meaning you can have the channel fader down while recording and you can monitor through your computer. make sure that your audio card is configured right, i.e. that you have selected the right input for recording. you can do this by clicking on the sound card icon at the bottom right in the taskbar, select dropdown menu "options" them "preferences" then click on record. make sure that the right sound card is selected, mainboards with sound on board often have the on board card set as default device. then choose the right input of your audio card. also make sure that you have chosen the right driver for the software you are using, again there are often problems with sound on board. once you have cleared the above you should be ready to record. so again while recording or setting up to record make sure the channel fader is tuned down and the auxilary turned up. see if you can monitor through your computer, if so then it should work. good luck.

  20. nice thread stalker! some basic effects like delay, gate, reverb etc are the blue line effects, they are very old now but are extremly cpu friendly. ive been using them for a few years now. find them here: http://www.sonicspot.com/daplugins.html another favorite the virtual-analogue drumsynthesize by e-phonic called drumatic, ive been using version 2 for some time now, quite good for kiks. find it here: http://www.e-phonic.com/ two more links with freeware stuff: http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~thman/VST/vst-allinstr.htm http://www.xoxos.net/vsti.html#synthesizers i also found this link which stalker recomended to me some time ago very usefull: http://www.kvraudio.com/ratings/9.html
  21. the mic will definitely work with your mixer, if you use the balanced input (xlr) be shure to turn off the phantom power.
  22. no you dont need a mic, only if you want that "amped" sound. you can definitely use just a mixer. it will be cheaper too, especialy if you get a behringer. good luck.

  24. there are two ways to solve your problem: 1. go with the virtual guitar amp like "line 6 pod", this is the simpler of the two solutions. just plug your guitar into the pod and the pod directly to the line input of your audio card. my father uses the pod for stage because it saves him having to carry an extra heavy flightcase for the guitar amp. 2. get yourself a decent dynamic mic like the sure sm57 and a good mixer to use as a preamp. like mylo suggested. this is definitely the more elegant way of recording a guitar. most guitarists that i know prefere this method because its their sound, i.e. what they are used to. links: http://www.zzounds.com/item--LINPOD20 http://www.shure.com/microphones/models/sm57.asp
