  1. A gate is a "BLACK BOX" that can procces any audio signal like a ADSR-envelope. Sort of like a door that lets the signal through or not. The envelope can be triggerd in different ways: 1. the audio signal itself triggers the envelope. This is done by adjusting the Threshhold to the level you want the envelope to be triggerd. this is especialy good for gettig rid of noise, say on vocal trax. 2. An external audio signal triggers the envelope. Exaple: a sampled breake beat is used to trigger the envelope (this signal is not heard), and a voval is played through the gate. By now adjusting the threshhold so that the kik and the snare of the break trigger the gate, the vocal is only then heard when the kik and the snare are played. 3. A midi signal triggers the gate. this is similar to 2, the difference being that no threshhold needs to be adjusted. hope this explination helps you.
  2. Your right it does look rather silly, its not exactley what im after but it will definetley do the job....thank you, you are a swell fella...
  3. thanks for the tip , ill keep this one.....But its not realy what im looking for...im looking for the type best compared with the bog standard 19" Behringer gate....the type that can be externaly keyed...
  4. Well, in my oppinion the casual use of any mind altering substances is quite ok....BUT if anyone feels they need these substances to be creative........sad thing....get inspired ok, nothing wrong with that.......BUT where will it end? being smahed everytime you want to write a track?..........I think this just leads to one thing: in the end youll be so smashed that you forget what it was you actualy wanted to do.......To be creative...
  5. Hi Musicmakers, Im looking for a good dxi/vsti - gate, i have tried several but they dont seem to be what im looking for. The gate should be controllable via an external key (ie an audio track that triggers the envelope). The gates key should also be eq-able, and most of all the evelopes shold be realy realy fast.......If there is such a gate out there then please let me know.
  6. A rather old one I use is the "Opcode - Fusion Filter", especialy good for very long sweeps. (Up to 60 seconds)......A whole generation of "Filter/Frensh - house" was build on this type of Filter. Very good for Psy-Trance......
  7. I am not entireley sure that i understud your question...I think you want to add a plugin to your SX system....If thats so do the following: Copy the "*.dll" File in to: Programs\Steinberg\Cubase SX\Vstplugins. It might be different on your system, however the important folder is the "Vstplugins" folder......If the "*.dll" is copied in there the plugin will appear in SX, and you can use it just like the internal plugins...... Hope that helps.
  8. Thanks for your replies, it seems most did listen to: "le monde de l`art tribal" which is of course less PSY (more of a "tribal" thing)...maybe I should have posted "look east" as the first link, thats more psy, well progressive-psy (with live played sax)........ Downloads: Electronic-kitchen

  10. If you are trying to get rid white noise then try "Denoiser" from steinberg, its a very old plug but it works, well with a litle tweeking. Alternativley you could use Sonic Foundrys "Noise Reduction". Hope that helps you. P.S. A litle Postit note on your monitor saying "Mute Line in 2" may also do the trick
  11. Nice One....Very chilled...good production.....What more can I say....May I promote it in our local forum?
  12. Ok....Have you checked your "ASIO Multimedia" setup? If not then check it..If the sampling rate is diferent, say before you had 44.1KHz and now its 48KHz or even 96KHz then change it back to the original sampling rate..... Hope this helps... P.S. What is "z3ta"?
  13. The problem you are having is a standard and well known problem. The Midi protocol consists of several parts: Basic: 1. Note on, Which note (0-127), Velocity (0-127) 2. Note Off, Which note (0-127) your Keybord is not getting the "note off" signal, and thats why the note is hanging...This could be due to a problem with your midi interface especialy if you are using the "Joystick Port" or an older interface. The buffer gets overloaded and misses a "note off" out. So what can you do? My advice if you are using "Joystick Port" or an older interface, throw them in the bin and buy a new one. If you have a relativley new one then check settings or get the latest version of the driver for the interface. Hope this is of some help.
