  1. My opinion - there's not much good new stuff being released at the moment.

Oh. That's what I thought as well, I was kind of hoping I was wrong and had been living in a little proggy bubble missing out on some quality releases.

    *waits patiently for more suggestions*

Prometheus, Ott and Shulman are well worth checking out and are all releasing new albums later this year, other than them I'd recommending looking for older albums that you missed the first time around. Eighty percent of the psy trance albums I purchased last year were oldies and I enjoyed them considerably more than the new releases I bought.

Ye I have loads of older albums....there's lots of gems out there. I'll certainly be keeping my pies peeled for new ott and shulman, like them both (not as convinced by prometheus tho).

    :D

  2. goddaammmmiiiiiiiiit i SO want to be there next year! gotta make myself a list of festivals in australia i should attend, for when i'll be travelling there in '07

Go to Rainbow Serpent Fesitval. I went there a few years ago and it was amazing. The aussies sure know how to party.

The melbournites have a very strong party scene and have outdoor parties most weekend. Sydney also has lots of quality parties as well. Australia is a good place for parties...aaaah *reminisces*

Keep your eyes on Oztrance and Australiens for up-to-date party listings :)

  3. I remember James, they had that Sit Down song. They were pretty good.

My friend used to looooooooooove James. Her first day at uni one of the guitartists walked in (Larry Gott). He was on the same course as her...she couldn't talk with him for about 3 months....she was too like 'it's Larry, from James...waaaaaaaaaa'.

She mustered up the ability to talk to him after a few months *snigger*

Sorry, off topic. As you were....

  4. Yesh when you put them all together there's loads of labels. I generally only stick with a few labels who I know release quality tracks every time. When I click on the labels I've not heard of then most of them have only had one or two cd's released. I guess that says something about running a record label and making it continually successful.

Agree with Charlie about lots of labels releasing sub-standard trance. On the one hand I think 'fair play for sorting it out and getting something released' but when it's the same old shit as released on many of the other labels then it's hardly worth it.

I think if people are gonna start up a new label it needs to be something completely fresh...there's plenty of labels out there who churn out the same old same old.

  5. Okies, so I have decided I want to see what's happening in the world of psytrance outside the realms of progressive. I've been listening to mostly just prog for ages, and I need suggestions on alternatives. Don't worry not getting bored of prog just fancy something new...

I used to be well into spirallianz/midi milliz/old xdream and other artists like those and still like to listen every now and again. Also like the stuff released on digital psionics (twisted aussie stylee). But I am totally out of the loop with anything that's been released lately.

So has anyone got any suggestions on what I should listen to? What's new and good??? I am quite picky, I'm not impressed with a lot of full on and I have no time for remixes of old pop tracks...

Mwah! Looking forward to hearing what you guys recommend

    Ta :D

  6. Why's that, Heva? What work is it?

    405903[/snapback]

I'm dealing with matters of national importance *cough*

I work here in this department.

I stamp bits of paper allowing people to import and export hazardous waste. And I am responsible for statistical reporting for the above. *yawn* have I lost you yet? So if you want data or bits of paper stamping I'm your girl.

Back on topic.....so yesh apparently it's 'unprofessional' to have music playing. Pah. That's what I say.

    *hums some more*

What do you do Charlie....I just realised I don't actually know! :D

  7. 180 euros on the door???? WTF????? *falls off chair*

They serious??? That's the most expensive festival I have ever heard of.....

And I agree with the sentiments about cost of tickets and 'quality crowd'. That's bollocks. 'Quality crowd' what's that all about? If you aren't 'trance enough' you can't come??

Meh. I'm going, coz I've booked my flights, and I meeting some old friends there who I have not seen for years. And hopefully it will be amazing! But like, the ticket price is bonkers! I'm gonna have to eat lentils from now until then!

    *gets back on chair*
