MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmkay:
TWISTED 10th BIRTHDAY
27th October 2006 - Fancy Dress - London
Many people thought that the party in March was the 10th Birthday party. Well, we're very pleased to tell you that it wasn't. It was just the warm up to what is going to be happening on the 27th of October 2006.
Twisted was born in June/July 1996 so we are waiting for the summer heat to settle so that we can have an indoor party without dying of heatstroke, suffocation and other indoor summer related afflictions. We would have liked to have an outdoor party but sadly the logistics of doing this in England are beyond complicated and into the nightmarish. We have found a venue, which will make you gasp and stagger in amazement when you enter. We won't go into details but if you trust our taste, if you are happy with what we have given you over the last 10 years, then you should trust us now.
This venue will wipe the floor with probably anything you've seen before. Its a different league. Our plan is to have a fancy dress celebration (seeing as the date is so close to Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night) so we want to see you all turn up looking your looniest! We are thinking about offering an incentive to you to dress up. Something like 30pounds on the door without fancy dress and 20pounds with or something similar.
We have made efforts to ensure that the problems from the last party (i.e. main dancefloor too crowded and too hot) will not occur this time round. The dancefloor is double capacity, very wide stage and a 20metre high roof! If we can get you all in fancy dress in this room it will be an all time great spectacle for us all.
In terms of music, we are having a similar story to the last party except instead of a Progressive Room, we are having 10 years ago Retro room with the likes of the Green Nuns and others being dragged on stage to perform their old material. Keep this weekend free, if you miss this party, you will kick yourself. This is going to be the ultimate celebration of 10 years of a very Twisted existence.
3500 Capacity Venue
1500 main floor
Lineup To be fully Confirmed: 5 rooms
(This line up is roughly what we are expecting. Either way it won't be far off!)
Main Room - Banging Twisted Trance
e.g. Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, Prometheus, Tristan, GBU, Koxbox
Old School Room - 10 years ago trance
e.g. The Green Nuns, Total Eclipse, Simon H, Dmitri, Doof, Serge, Synthetic etc
Breaks Room - Upbeat breaks from the likes of Liquid Records
Chill Out - Killer Chiller...
e.g. Shpongle DJ, Baring Brothers, Bluetech etc
Backroom Beats - Loungey, Chilled, electro, breaks, prog
e.g. Simon H, Ed Bigland, Flexitones, Si B etc

I shall be there.....muahahaha
-
actually whilst i'm thinking about it i shall write some thoughts on the party
Before the party we spent a few days camping by the lake in capodimonte. Such a beautiful lake, I could actually have happily stayed there for a few weeks and been very happy. However, as I knew there was sonica just up the road I managed to drag mysefl away
After getting to the party and setting up camp (luckily managed to blag a spot in the olive grove) I wandered down to the main stage to have a looksie and was very impressed. There was shade, and lots of it! I had heard there was going to be an 'underwater' theme, and that it was. Lots of stretchy lycra goodness
My first real stomping was a nice early set by peter didjital at 9am ish, followied by some lovely proggy by d-nox (always wicked) and ticon. The afternoon was rounded off by the most wonderful set by Atmos. I've seen him play a few times before, but this set was something special. He pulled out loads of old classics and this was probably one of the best sets of the weekend for me. Big grins all round.
Had quite a chilled evening (I'm all for sensible partying nowadays; sleep at night party in the day). The next day I went down to the lake and chilled there for the morning. It was such a nice break from the party and a welcome opportunity to cool down. Managed to get back up to the party in time for Tristan who played another top notch psychedelic blinder of a set followed by Allaby and Gino and then Freq. Freq was once again wicked, and provided a perfect set full of oldies and newies. I loved his set and managed to have a shuffle with Alien and Tash. I nearly wet my pants with excitement when Jaia played next...also wicked. Stomped along to Beckers and was also mightily impressed with a dj set by Rafael Dahan (who I had never even heard of before the party).
The final day I kind of wandered back and forth to the main stage. I didn't pay too much attention to who was playing as I was quite tired from my adventurous day the day before. We watched a storm come in, and it hit the main stage as eduardo was playing ( i think). The storm bought with it lots of amazing energy, the dust was blowing, rain was pouring and lightening flashing and people were going bonkers on the dancefloor....it was great It's a shame that it was quite an abrupt end to the party, but despite the rain everyone was still smiling
Overall I had a wicked party, just the right amount of people, amazing proggy tunes all day (what more could I ask for).
Next time I shall be more 'on it' with meeting other psynewsers. Looking forward to the next one

ooh theres quite a few pics of my friends on the psygarden site, which is wunderbarrr since i managed to take no pictures at all......thank you for sharing!
Tox - I was quite useless with meeting up with people at sonica...I'm gonna try my best to be at the VooV meet-up. We keep sharing the same dance floor and never actually meet up!! Looking forward to meeting you too

There's not many parties during the summer in london as everyone is too busy going to outdoor events and festivals in europe....
however, check www.psy-forum.co.uk - it probably has the most up to date concise listings in the UK.
Good luck!

I absolutely love this album....proper psychedelic stompers!! Reminds me of partying out in the bush in aus....
Mexican Jesus is an all time classic!! Stomp-a-rama!! Looking forward to new scatterbrain shenanigans!

Freq. Because it is Freq. And it will be full of Freqy goodness. Ooh I love the freq-meister.
I have yet to hear either album, but since they are both on iboga I think you should buy them both, Iboga being the best pay label around at the moment and all that
-
It's on my 'must buy' list. Heard Slack Baba dj quite a bit up in Leeds and he plays some lush-as-you-like tunes. Can't wait to hear this album, much anticipated by moi! And now I'm even more excited about hearing it!!
-
wonderful! Getting it now...thanks Ben
-
just listened to the samples sounds ok,but not that excited,Iboga hasnt dissapointed yet this year only quality realeses but T2 hmm i dont know,If you dont have "hibernation" or "summer collection vol 2" check em out,.... i would go for one of those insted, especially "hibernation" good stuff.
Or maybe the new Freq I just saw it was avalible at psyshop.
well freq is on my 'must have' list and i already have hibernation. SOooooo I think I may go for T2, purely because iboga is my fave label, and nemo mentioned that daily basis was more proggy housey prog....so yesh. Thank you all for helping me come to a decision!!
-
So, I am buying some new albums, and I can't afford to buy everything i want. I have got a small list of a few I definately want, however, I can't decide between these two on the 'maybe' list:
va - daily basis (flow records)
or
va - Tabernanthe 2 (iboga records)
Anyone want to decide for me?

Aloha! Just thought I should add that I had a problem with my ticket for Sonica...I posted my problem on another psy forum and I got a response straight away from from Edoardo (neurobiotic) offering to sort out my problem! It's been all good on the service front from the Sonica staff as far as I'm concerned. Bravo
-
So I couldn't find a thread about Sonica (mods feel free to merge if there is one) and I thought it was about time to make one. Hands up to all those who are going this summer

the great Orb worshipping thread!
in General Psytrance
Posted
orb live 93 is one of the oldest cd's in my collection. It wins points purely for the cuteness of the album cover. Haven't listened to it for aaaages, but I might give it a listen for old times sake. Although I think it's been over-played, little fluffy clouds is a well nice track. A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld is also a good track name, phnaaaaaaarf! Yay for old-school classics
