  1. Both EP's have good tracks, this kid is going places with this sound.
  2. Prove me wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcj6nMMwnYU
  3. Saw him open up for Ott, he blew me away. /birdofprey-thefirststep /bird-of-prey-stargazer /bird-of-prey-atrium
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dPoAq4bPZA one of my personal favorite old tracks
  5. What he meant to say was.. On Topic: Like previously stated discogs, ebay and isratrance/psynews great places to find old stuff at usually reasonable prices (depending on it's scarcity). Not that I condone file sharing, but that is always an option and you can check to see if that artist has a working internet site where you can currently donate to them directly, because any of those other avenues stated above, the money isn't going to go to the artist anyway so it's a moot point.
  6. Thanks for posting this here Erik, thanks for Mirroring it Bas.
  7. I don't either, I know what I said was pretty inflammatory but I guess Darkpsy doesn't really fit the psy I was referring to, may be deathpsy is a better classification.
  8. I think some people definitely "exercise the demons" so to speak when they are tripping if they have some serious emotional issue they were already working through at the time.
  9. It's human nature. What do we observe that we don't try and quantify.
  10. It's a two edged sword, it increases exposure for the release while it decreases traffic to your site for the release but in the long run could bring more traffic overall. It also screws up your download statistics.
  11. I pretty much agree with everything you said there. When I was referring to darkpsy I wasn't speaking so much of the more melancholy stuff, as the darkpsy that has violent death metal type overtones to them.
  12. I'm not trying to make any specific arguments against any individual artists or dissuade people from listening to whatever they want. I'm just simply pointing out where the schism has happened in the community, and generally why it's happened and my personal opinion about the subject, which after all, was what this thread was for, wasn't it?
  13. See the edit. Also I'd point out how psychically sensitive someone can be when they are in a state of altered consciousness so any type of negative connotation being conveyed through music or lyric can adversely affect the mindset.
  14. Saying Darkpsy is Psy-Trance is like saying that the shitty bleep bloop tech/electro house "Trance" artists are spinning today is Trance. Sure some of the fullon may be a little cheesy or lovey dovey, but so was some of the psychedelic rock of the 60's and 70's. That's kind of the point, who wants to take a heavy dose of hallucinogens and listen to some dark evil tortured shit? Some sick, twisted people, that's who, which only proves the point being made in this thread that it's a different scene. The Psy scene has moved into the chillout world as a refuge from the hateful garbage that's infecting psy-trance exempli gratia: St. Posford doing shpongle. Edit: I'd just add that there is nothing wrong with writing some stuff that's emotionally darker, but it's been taken to a whole other eschelon.
  15. The lines between progressive house, trance and psy-trance can be easily blurred as they all share some commonalities. I think this is why it's so important to correctly identify as closely as possible where a song or album is. I also agree that you can't call a label a specific style of music if they are releasing other styles, you have to try and identify all the styles they are releasing and clarify what they have released and what they are currently releasing. I think a good example of the blurring unrelated to the labels in question is an album like Earthshine where you have songs that could as easily be labeled progressive house and/or trance, as much as progressive psy.
  16. Bas and psystero pretty much covered it there. It comes down to the CCL label itself, and how they've drawn up their licensing. You can have a CCL where the music is open to be edited. However you are not going to find that on a majority of CCL sites, just sharing of the files with correct attribution. I can tell you Chillbasement is the same licensing type as Ektoplazm/omnitropic.
  17. Make sure you grab our free HQ releases and keep an eye out for our first compilation.
  18. Amphiton, thanks for the support. On the subject of Hidetoshi Koizume aka Hybrid Leisureland, check out my interview with him here. http://chillbase.org/interviews/239-hidetoshi-koizume-hybrid-leisureland-interview.html I'll be doing a review of scroll side shortly. Also the interview with Magnus is still on and was supposed to be around the beginning of march, but has to be postponed until he has a little more time, he's more pressed on the end of his tour than he originally thought.
  19. Whoever leaked the release early really hurt their sales.. oh wait.
  20. @ verachor, we are going to do white label releases, which means you can put your release and yourself on the site, and we have a free content section in the works where we will store free releases, and will be having exclusive releases starting with The Lauge & Baba Gnohm. I'll build the white label page right now, just put that as your release label.
