  1. Sundance released some amazing compilations as well - Vibraspirit 23 and Sundaze were excellent. Vibraspirit 23 was pretty good. Haven't heard the new one yet. They're all about melodic music, in case you haven't noticed - and the full-on tracks they sign are pretty decent..

  2. the derango album is made in a certain style - basslines are mostly the same throughout the album, and so are the sounds. still it's very complex, took me at least 10 listens to start figuring it out.. very powerful music, very psychedelic. but there is something in it that turns me off - a lack of emotion perhaps, or of humor.. I can appreciate the power of the music, but have trouble 'feeling' it. It doesn't send shivers down my spine the way Zik or Penta, or even some older Derango tracks do.

While I will certainly be playing this album out at parties for some time to come - and making everyone dance and gasp and scream - I doubt I'll be listening to it at home very often. And I believe it's the 'listen at home' test, which, in the end, is what truly determines the greatness and longevity of a piece of music.

  3. I'm currently listening to the cd, and as I said before, it's going to be flamed and bashed.. but if you liked Eskimo's older work, you'll like this too.

eh.. i like some of Eskimo's music. once in a while he puts out a really nice one, like that Jack in the Box remix from the Portuguese promo. haven't heard the whole album yet, but so far I don't like it very much.

  4. I think 2006 will be better with new albums from Prometheus, Ott, Infected Mushroom (probably) and maybe Hallucinogen now the Shpongle project has come to a head.

eh.. none of these make me even remotely excited. good production, but same old ideas done over and over again. maybe some more Metal Sharon, that'd be neat.

  5. a lot of the techno i hear lately is much more psychedelic imo than the so-called "psy" coming out

    true

and i am not talking about just the so-called 'psy techno' either. minimal glitchy techno has gotten a lot better as well... and some of it is extremely psychedelic.

  6. Brian Eno and David Byrne - My Life In the Bush of Ghosts

amazing album - a classic. 25 years old and still sounds better than most stuff produced today.

Brian Eno and Robert Fripp - No Pussyfooting/Swastika Girls

one of the first "ambient" albums made with tape loops - from 1973, I believe.

  7. lol

English is nice because so many people understand it.

and it's usually american because most movies where the samples come from are made in Hollywood.

personally, i find british accent a lot sexier.. but really, who fucking cares, as long as you understand what they're saying?
