  1. I find it strange that when highly talented acts like Ott or Younger Brother make follow-up albums, people are very critical and think it is kinda so-so, because they perhaps don't meet all of the enormous expectations that people have built up.. But when someone who has disappointed a lot of people with two so-so albums then makes something a bit better again, then it's suddenly Teh Best Ever. It doesn't really seem like a very fair way to judge the artists and their creations..
  2. Aah, yes you are right. They are indeed identical there for a while!
  3. I agree that they are indeed very similar, but I'm not sure I agree that the melodies are the same.. If this kind of thing "counts", then I think there are better examples of e.g. Alien Project (& co) re-using the exact same themes, samples and melodies in tracks that sounds more like a remixes than completely new tracks, but nevertheless the names of the tracks have nothing in common. Can't remember exactly which tracks I mean tho.. Oh and this one: Cosma - Nonstop Sounds to me very much like it ripped off / borrowed from X-Dream - Psychomachine.
  4. Reger, You are completely right in all that you say. I just want to clarify that I did not mean any of what I said as directed towards you personally. I definitely don't know anything about your situation other than your father being dead. There was just something that triggered some strong feelings in me which I felt a need to express, and I was generalizing and projecting wildly. As I said, I am well aware that those feelings were very irrational for the most part, and my frustration was probably "misplaced" or whatever the word is.. But it can be like that sometimes when it comes to very emotional and difficult subjects.. I apologize sincerely if you feel that I attacked you or belittled your grieving in any way, that was not my intention. I am very sorry for your loss.. Not that I can claim to know how you feel, and as you said we don't know eachother, but I guess we are kinda in the same boat. Btw, my relationship to my father was somewhat complicated, and obviously I still haven't really gotten over his death (which was very sudden). ---- Psytones, Sorry to hear about your sister........
  5. Maybe there is already a thread like this, but i didn't manage to find it.. Anyway: Sometimes artists "borrow" melodies from other music. I don't mean remixes (so Skazi doesn't count!), but rather when only a part of a track, or only one melody, are "borrowed". Here are a few I came up with off the top of my head: Abakus - Nightwalker Borrows a melody from the intro guitar solo in Jimi Hendrix - Along the Watchtower. Rinkadink - Tune from childhood Uses a melody from the soundtrack to the old game Turrican 2. The track is called Desert Rocks and is written by Chris Huelsbeck. Fuzzion - Little girl This is a borderline case since it is basically a remix.. But since it's only half of the track, I thought it could count. Anyway it's an obvious "remix" of Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit. Enigma - The Eyes of Truth This isn't really psy, but still. The main song/melody is the from the song played by . :drama: Shulman - Eternal Bliss of the Grateful Souls Another borderline case, but personally I think it sounds very much like he uses subtle variations of the well-known short "melody" from the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Now add the ones you've identified to this list!
  6. Go-Goa Trancer, Thanks for hearing me. And you're 100% right. That's life. *accept, move on*
  7. When I read your replies I get the feeling that you didn't even read my whole post.. Of course I have respect and sympathy for Reger, I know exactly what he's going through.. However, that's beside my point.. But as my edit above says: Nevermind. This is obvisously not the place for this kind of conversation anyway. Just forget it.
  8. Crystal clear production as always, my friend! :clapping: But as you know the minimal stuff isn't always my cup of tea.. Although I must say your minimal stuff is usually much more trippy and interesting than most of the minimal techno I hear.
  9. Judging from what I've heard, this may very well be the closest anyone has come to creating a Hallucinogen(ish) sound without actually being Simon Posford. But still with quite enough of a unique flavor to not feel like a ripoff or copycat! Very nicely done, Mathias! Respek
  10. As we say here in sweden, taste is like the butt: split. A big part of that track is centered around the mantric repetitions of a couple of puzzled-together tv samples.. Altho I'd say there aren't actually any "vocals" on the album.
  11. Yes, it is a Gi'iwa Productions and Faerie Dragon Records collaboration release. The ones I uploaded were 320kbps but they must be automatically converted to lower bitrate by the site or something because they don't sound the same... Still way better than Myspace tho.
  12. Hi all, I apologize to those who have been waiting for this. It has taken longer than it should have to reach the light of day, but now it is finally finished and on it's way! Here you can find a couple of (relatively) high-quality sneak preview teaser clips from the album. Full info and previews of all tracks will be availible sooooon. Enjoy!
  13. Faerie Dragon - No Tone Unstirred Not that I've seen... ...
  14. Actually, I'm pretty sure she is a porn model.
  15. I do believe this is a 2006 release.. Nevertheless quite original and pretty cool.
  16. Not one reply?? Shocking... and sad. It's a great compilation with great mastering and really nice artwork, full of tweaky suomi goa goodness. And I don't even usually like suomi that much. (of course I can't say anything about my own track since, well, I made it and have heard it a gazillion times.. but the rest is great! *happy to be on this comp* )
  17. Well, first of all, this is just the way Sienis does it: Kick&Bass front and center! Gives a nice pressure to the dancefloor bounce. I KNOW it works, I've seen it in action. =P Second, a lot of home listening systems that people use have their bass turned up. That's why a lot of music is actually purposefully mastered with LESS bass - to make it sound balanced in most home systems where bass is very often turned up above "normal" levels.. But when playing music that is purposefully bass-heavy on a system with the bass already turned up, then it can sound like too much bass, like it takes over too much. I actually had the exact same reaction you had when I heard this album the first time at a friends house - I thought the bass dominated a bit too much.. But then my friend turned down the bass a bit and then it sounded fine. So just try checking the bass setting on your amp (or whatever) and make sure it is not turned up. With a flat EQ it should sound fine. Or, if you have hifi speakers with a high bass response, or a room with a lot of low frequency resonance, then maybe try turning the bass down a little bit to balance it out.
  18. One thought I have is: X-Dream - Electromagnetic Relentless. Just keeps on pushing and pushing and never lets go of the full on fury. *drool* Oh, and another, non-psy: Squarepusher - Boneville Occident Intense breakbeat madness. Gets me every time. *more drool* [ edit ] seraph: tracks like LSG - Netherworld and such that you mentioned are quite nice indeed, but most energetic ever? I wouldn't really say so.. [ /edit ]
  19. Thanks, TC --- I now also put up a MySpace page, with some clips from the most current releases and one from the album. www.myspace.com/tamlin420 ---
  20. Thanks to all for the support! Yep, check the site for a full discography. However, Fjaqek (the one on Schizm) is still my craziest track to date. And it is crazier than anything that will be on the album, which will be to a large extent more melodic - even though it will have twisted cracy stuff as well. Since I have mostly released weird stuff so far on compilations, one main point of this album is to show that I do quite different stuff as well. BPM's will range from 120's to 170's, and style will range from dark to euphoric, twisted to melodic, and detailed to monotonous. If you've heard me play at a party you probably know what I'm talking about. There has been loose talk about an album on Gi'iwa since Schizm, but concrete plans for the album started about a year ago. Since I work very slowly with my music, you could definitely say the album has been in the making for ages. Some of the tracks will be a few years old (altough of course redone with fresh production etc) and maybe familiar to some people that have heard me play at parties or something, and some of the tracks will be quite fresh and never before heard by anyone (except close friends and of course the label dudes).
  21. Nope. Subcouds = Fredrik Axelsson, Rickard Berglöf Son Kite = Marcus Henriksson, Sebastian Mullaert Although, maybe you were thinking of this: Vibrasphere = Rickard Berglöf, Robert Elster (source: www.discogs.com) His second album will be out in september (hope he won't be mad at me for telling you..) +++
  22. Thanks, I guess. No samples yet. It is not too far from finished, but some tracks left to finish and/or fine-tune and stuff. Plus making the tracks transitions seamless of course! thx Many emails, eh? Sounds strange. I have been known to miss (or just forget to reply to) the occasional mail but if you mailed me many times it sounds like maybe you sent it to the wrong adress or something..? Either way, tho, I don't have much material or time left over for another compilation release atm. It would have to wait until after the album.
  23. +++ Also a new Ubar Tmar album would be sweet.
