1200 Mics manages to take embarassingly stupid drug samples to a whole new level... Any speech sample repeated a million times (where "a million" means approximately >2) is an instant mood killer for me. Speech is all about advancing from one thing to another. People don't repeat the very same phrase ad infinitum. If they do, it's plain annoying. Applies 100% to music as well. This was a real plague in tracker music scene, when sample space was seriously limited. When someone found a cool vocal bit, it was used "a few more times", just to make sure that it was worth its kilobytes. Happens a lot in commercial music too, unfortunately. Was it Etnica's Trip Tonight remix on Hell's Kitchen 12" which had that near-incomprehensible mumble? When I first heard it on a mixtape, I was 100% sure it was a terrible DJ voiceover recorded in a tiny booth. I still don't believe it really belongs to that track. Yep, Toxic Brainwaves could have done without that stupid sample. On the other hand, I really liked Tribalistic. One of the best speech-enhanced breakdowns right after Aeternum's Chainsaw.

Around here supermarkets have crates full of stuff like "New Pops Orchestra Plays Abba with Panpipes" or "London Synth Orchestra's Tribute to the Titanic Soundtrack". All these "orchestras" usually mean one sad geek with a cheap midi synth, just releasing his stuff on CDs instead of .mid background tunes on the internet. Dig some bargain bins and pick the cheapest (by look or price). That should do the trick. Richard Cheese actually manages to improve most songs he touches. Some other covers do that too.

It sounds a lot like Âme - Rej, but not any released version I know. Because it was a huge hit, there are about 10 official mixes and many more unofficial ones floating around. Several big name DJs have used their own edits. It may be an unreleased mix, a private version, a clever mashup or possibly a ripoff under another name. I don't know any better than that.

The main riff and tempo are somewhat similar to Ott's 382 Seaside. Is that what you're looking for or something even more direct?

Erm...now I'm forced to ask whether this is somehow a rare feature. All of my new CDs have come with flac/wav versions of the audio, plus artwork and resale value on top. Why in the world should anyone pay MORE for the audio only? There's something in this digital download world I really don't understand.

Right...apparently NeuTron (who made that track) = Epsilon = Juho Lepistö. He has a profile at mikseri.net, a Finnish indie music site. Even more project names and old tracks there... Some GoaArchive stuff has been rereleased under Jolly Roger nick. Apparently he was also known as Reaper in the tracker music scene. I gotta see if I have any of his modules stacked on my HD. It was a small but intense world back then. That's plenty of names for one fellow. Maybe he still has the originals? It never hurts to ask for a high quality copy...

I did a bit of googling. Various old trance sites link to goaarchive-com (un-linked, because the site has expired and there's only a domain squatter popup hell there). Archive.org (gah, archive overload) still has it. The real site was taken down in 2002. Everything thereafter is just spam. There's indeed "Sub Space" and a lot more in the music section. Then, you can take a look at reply #36 of this topic. Apparently it was a free music project of five Nordic guys, also hosted at mp3.com. I don't think there's any problem with sharing the files further. Of course, you can ask them. At least Juho appears active on that site.

I'd love to hear these words more often. The sending back part, I mean. If I want my music ruined, I can do it myself with a few cheap squashing filters. It doesn't work the other way round. So, no hurry. The previous albums are still hot. TLWH found some good use in my yesterday's chillout set. You can count the next one already sold as well.
