  1. Artist: UX Title: Ultimate Experience Reloaded Label: KissTheSound Records Date: September, 2012 01 - Reloaded (Part 1 Reloaded) (144 BPM) 02 - Life Support Technology (Reloaded) (146 BPM) 03 - Chameleon (Reloaded) (146 BPM) 04 - Mind Over Gravity (Reloaded) (142 BPM) 05 - Alien Earth Activity (Reloaded) (120 BPM) 06 - Pure Intellect (Reloaded) (146 BPM) 07 - Dominion (Reloaded) (144 BPM) 08 - Space Puppy (Mix II feat. Syb Unity Nettwerk Reloaded) (148 BPM) 09 - Millennium Generation (Reloaded) (144 BPM) 10 - Master Of The Universe (Epic Mix Reloaded) (146 BPM) 11 - Chrysalis (Reloaded) (97 BPM) 12 - Dominion (Digital Frontier Live Remix Reloaded) (144 BPM) 13 - Children Of The Night (feat. Jan Rechberger) (145 BPM) 14 - Reloaded (Part 2 Reloaded) (146 BPM) "The future is one world...one thought...one mind." I used to be into comic books "Worst. Reviewer. Ever." Bet you don't say that to my face. Girl look at this body...I work out. Sure today it's cool with all the graphic novels and movies but that is a recent development. If you're into it now you're dark and mysterious. Not sad and lonely with a snacking problem. Hell these days everyone and their grandmother plays video games. It wasn't too long ago this was your champion. Not so funny when it hits close to home is it Poindexter? What's the point? Keep your shirt on Nancy I'll get there. This is Krys Kylven and if you are on this forum then you probably already know who he is. The beautiful mind behind some of the most twisted and dark goa trance ever made. If goa trance was a penis (I don't like where this is going) then it was at it's hardest in 1997. That was when the original Ultimate Experience was released assuming its rightful position next to the other greats of the genre. So what has Kris done to top it? How about remastered versions as well as some unreleased tracks? But wait...there's more. It's free. I know right? For those of us who missed the outer space carnival ride that was goa trance in the mid nineties and all the vets screaming for a remaster it's Christmas come early. 14 tracks including an intro and an outro as well as previously unreleased versions. If I could ask Kris a question, I guess it would be this. Did it hurt? Did it hurt being ripped away from your family only to be probed by your alien abductors only to be inseminated with their musical ability? Because normal humans can't make music like this. If this album was a superhero it would have the bludgeoning power of Thor's hammer and the uncontrollable rage of the big green guy combined with the intelligence of Mr. Fantastic and the alien quality of the Silver Surfer. I realize my inner nerd has become my outer nerd, but what music! We've all heard the classics many times, but never have they sounded so crisp. Driving and screaming it felt like you were in my living room. I could hear every nuance and contributing layer heightening the experience. There is just change after change making each track so lush and vivid. And it's one pumping futuristic cyber beat down after another. There is a reason this is a classic and with this fresh coat of paint its brilliance takes on an even brighter shine. Alien at its core with effects crawling in between dark melodies it's like listening to new tracks. Speaking of new or unreleased tracks (outside of the very ambient Matrix-esque intro and outro) say hello to Space Puppy II with Syb Unity Nettwerk (yeah still him) as it shreds meninges and fits perfectly on this album. Millenium Generation produced from an old DAT tape is more electronic chaos that maintains the sci-fi feel with eerie melodies and metallic textures. The Epic Mix of Master of the Universe is fine, but I prefer the original. Dominion ( Digital Frontier Live Remix Reloaded) is another mix I have never heard and I don't know if it is recent or one of the tracks they had lying around. Regardless it is another punishing addition to this man's legacy with its heavy industrial leanings. The final extra is a track called Children of the Night feat. Jan Rechberger who is the drummer of a metal band Amorphis. It's less goa and more industrial psytrance that makes me think of FLA or Front 242. That's a lot of praise heaped upon an album. It's worth it and then some as this is one of the most original works in the genre. Powerful, atmospheric, and melodic it doesn't get old. The fact that he offered this for free is a true gift to anybody who hasn't heard it. Is there anything that would take away from this outstanding work? There are some who argued that the cover is a mess (and I would've preferred the original), but with content that is this superlative you could've put a pile of dogsh*t on the front and it wouldn't deter me in the slightest. No brainer. Get this. Now. Ektoplazm Mdk
  2. Artist: Liquid Flow Title: Cosmic Ascension EP Label: Spacedock Records Date: September, 2012 1. Cosmic Ascension 2. A New World 3. 2012 "Great moments are born from great opportunities." Nothing like a sample from Miracle on Ice. Right now it would be a miracle if the millionaires would stop acting like self-important pricks and get back on the f*cking ice. Don't make me watch basketball. Don't make me. Tomislav Savic is yet another Croatian in the seemingly dominant wave of artists erupting from the Balkans. Having released a successful Ep (Goa Terminal), album (Presence) and who knows how many compilation tracks he presents you with his latest EP release. It's on Spacedock Records and I tell you this fledgeling label is making me sit up and take notice. The Alien Humanity EP by Vox was one of the most impressive contributions to goa trance IMO and even had Jesus chiming in. Check the review, you'll see. Not to mention the great Unvisited Galaxies EP by Goasia and we might be seeing the rise of another goa trance label. One can hope. See that cover? Pretty ain't it? This digital release is exactly what you would expect from that cover. It is a ride through space with lofty melodies and high technology power. Bubbly effects and 303's boil like a cauldron threatening to overflow. A New World is a stormer with nothing necessarily new to offer, but it's power and layers had me twirling nonetheless. The closer 2012 has deep goa roots with floaty trance melodies. So while some may say we've seen this movie before I say true, but Event Horizon was a good f*cking movie. Recommended. 3. Artist: Various Title: Sideform - The Remixes EP Label: YSE Date: September, 2012 1. Psychedelic Future (Phaxe Remix) 2. Chameleon (Nerso Remix) 3. 7th Sense (Side Effects Remix) 4. Eastern Fantasy (Lyctum Remix) No chair can contain this! Way to go YSE! You know I didn't think you had it in ya, but there you are delivering a 4 track ep of danceable progressive remixes. At least it's four different tracks remixed instead of the nightmarish Way of Life remix album. But that's a story for another time. The creme de la creme of progressive trance put their best foot forward with uplifting melodies, floating breaks and chair leaving dance grooves. Layers get stacked as the reverberating tales unfold. It's a darker and more wide open style of melodic progressive trance that I can't get enough of. None of the original tracks are here so these artists no own the results. I've gone back and forth on whether the originals should be included, but I think it's best that they aren't. Like melodic progressive? Get this. Beatport Mdk
  4. Artist: Various Title: Tempo Syndicate Label: Sentimony Records Date: September, 2012 01 - Boggy Elf - Dream Of Ashvattha (In) (80 BPM) 02 - ShizoLizer Gin - Kinder Pingui (115 BPM) 03 - Hypnotriod - The Sleep Detector (125 BPM) 04 - Unusual Cosmic Process - Insignificant Information (104 BPM) 05 - Flooting Grooves - Psydeburn (124 BPM) 06 - Irukanji - Ayalla (125 BPM) 07 - Sygnals - Among Others (110 BPM) 08 - Senzar - Nature Moves (121 BPM) 09 - Daoine Sidhe - Mindslipses (127 BPM) 10 - Wizack Twizack - Lejon (130 BPM) 11 - Primordial Ooze - Trial (120 BPM) 12 - Spectrum Vision - Time Out Man (Out) (120 BPM) Compiled by Irukanji he delivers 12 tracks that traverse the boundaries of several genres. From the clunky downtempo sound of Dream of Ashvattha to the noisy and very long Insignificant Information. Alas, I'm not thrilled with the result. All of the tracks draw from some techno inspiration and at times become too garbled for their own good. There was potential in a lot of them with dark effects and rumbly basses, but they seemed to just veer into aimless territory. Kinda like me when I'm in Victoria's Secret. Wandering around, not really doing anything and afraid to touch everything. I kept waiting for the interesting turn that never came. Reminded me of the minimal days. Lejon from Wizack was the lone bright spot for me. But that guys crazy. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  5. Artist: Various Title: The Remixes EP Label: Yellow Sunshine Explosion Date: September, 2012 1. Psychedelic Future (Phaxe Remix) 2. Chameleon (Nerso Remix) 3. 7th Sense (Side Effects Remix) 4. Eastern Fantasy (Lyctum Remix) Not to be a dick, but shouldn't you be a household name before you present an EP or album of remixes? Was anyone really waiting for the Sideform Remixes? That being said I'll be waiting for the next one. Sideform are Serbians Drasko Radovanovic and Milos Modrinic with a fantastic quartet of remixes that are just chock full of atmosphere generating effects. Deep and multi-layered beauty with melodies that seem to float right before your eyes. I've never heard any of these songs so I treat them like brand new tracks. Don't know who invited the Danish kid to this Serbian party, but his track is also quite good. The stars for me were the Nerso and Lyctum remixes...pure poetry. Wide open melodic progressive with a dark feel just the way I like it. Reco - f*cking - mmended. Beatport Mdk
  6. Artist: Various Title: Binaural Beats 2 Label: TesseracT Studios Date: September, 2012 1. Sundance FLOAT 2. Ray Of Joy PION 3. Ace THE RIDDLER 4. Like You IVENT HORIZON 5. Switch Blade AVAX 6. Time Distortion VERTEX 7. Norwegian Wood E-CLICK 8. Universal Language MORTEN GRANAU AND VICE 9. Protector (Avax rmx) VERTEX AND FLOAT 10. Destiny PROMID "Just think what you're thinking, feel what you're feeling, experience whatever you're experiencing." TesseracT Studios has long been known to deliver the melodic and effect laden progressive trance that will have you floating amidst the clouds. Awesome stuff. So here they are with the second installment of their Binaural Beats series and just like its predecessor it's a slight departure from the comfort zone. It's still progressive trance yet it has a bit of a house swag and even some dubby elements. Some names you will know if you follow this genre like the Riddler, Vertex, Float...Vertex & Float. Then of course there will be some equally capable yet lesser known projects. The cover is exactly the same as the first one just a different color. Some might call that lazy, but not me. I'm a guy that has let dryed laundry sit in the basket for a week. What's the point of putting it away you're just going to pull it out and wear it. Wrinkles? Get an iron you lazy f*ck. Sundance- That house vibe / dub bass is evident from the first track as Float delivers a smooth and soft number. If you've read my reviews you know that house music and I don't get along, but this is so calming and relaxing that's appreciated after a hectic day. Ray of Joy- Pion's track is a little on the minimal side for me, yet still enjoyable with it's bob your head gait. The melody at the end hangs in the air like Febreeze and makes me smile. Ace- Goran has obviously been bitten by the progressive bug and he's damn good at it. More warm kicks and dreamy synths with those eerie melodies he loves to bring. It's like a funhouse up in here, but I'm so high that I don't see the clown with the knife. Like You- It begins like any other generic track, but the melody warbles out of nowhere. But before you get your hopes up, the "No one like you" sample pushes the needle on the get the f*ck outta here sample. Switch Blade- Time Distortion- Norwegian Wood- This should be nominated for the most generic track...of all time. Whew. I would love to visit Norway, but this isn't helping. The Beatles must be turning over in their grave. What? Two of them are still alive? Are you sure? I think you're thinking of the Monkees... Universal Language- "There's no right way to do this. There's no wrong way to do this." Beg to differ sir or... did you just ignore the three turds in a row that just preceded this track? Hard to recover from that. But this track will make you forget about all that turdosity. The tension grows and the vocal manipulation is a little Agent Smith uncomfortable if you know what I mean. Melt into that break as it coalesces around you. Nice ain't it? Like jumping into a swimming pool of jello. Now with more baby. Protector- Meh. Not terrible, but if you put this track with the other 3 consecutive snoozeballs you might've had a record of mediocrity that could very well have ripped open the time space continuum eradicating life as we know it. So, for at least track placement you're a hero. Destiny- Very mellow complete with sitar melody. The foreign language sample ups the cliche factor a bit, but...you finish that sentence. This is an average compilation. Maybe. If you are in the mood to wind down, but aren't ready for the downtempo stuff this could fill the need. Unfortunately there is more than the fair share of filler to be found here. But the tracks that are good are really good. Perfect example of download what you need. I imagine this one won't go on the resume. Beatspace Psyshop Mdk
  7. Artist: Lyctum Title: Ancient Groove EP Label: Synergetic Records Date: September, 2012 1. Ancient Groove 2. Power of the Atmosphere This is the 2nd EP I've heard from Lyctum and I must say that I'm impressed. He's making his rounds with the progressive labels and continues to deliver smooth and floating music. It's pumping and the tracks have a mystical quality to them. Comparing this to the Exodus EP this has more of a "psy-gressive" attitude yet maintains his gift for melody and otherworldly breaks. Recommended. Beatport Psyshop Mdk
  8. Artist: Lyctum Title: Exodus EP Label: TesseracTStudios Date: September, 2012 1. Crossover Mind 2. Exodus 3. Consciousness (Zyce Remix) 4. Nightfall Session (Lyctum Remix) - Odd Sequence Yet another Balkan individual stepping up to the plate and dominating the progressive trance genre. Ho hum. Don't you guys have anything else to do over there? Not that I'm complaining. This is Dejan Jovanovic and just like Flegma, Nerso, and E-Clip this guy brings steady beats, floating melodies and epic breaks. Two original tracks (of which Exodus was almost heavenly) a remix, and then from the guy who seems to be everywhere a remix by Zyce. The tracks are full to bursting with effects and melodies that one doesn't even mind the galloping bass line. Impressive and worth your progressive dollar. Psyshop Beatport Mdk
  9. Artist: Various Title: Audiophile Vol. 3 Label: Spintwist Records Date: September, 2012 1. Arped VAISHIYAS 2. Modern Terms PHAXE 3. Deep and Pumping Sound (Day.Din rmx) AUDIOMATIC 4. Extraordinary FABIO AND MOON 5. Count Down INTERACTIVE NOISE 6. Spin Spirit (Audiomatic and Vaishiyas rmx) KRAMA 7. Automatik SIDEFORM 8. Up on you COM!NG SOON 9. Transformation AQUAFEEL 10. Dr. Lupo (Audiomatic rmx) ACE VENTURA AND ROCKY That crazy microphone from the 50's is back at it for the third installment of the Audiophile series. Spintwist is one of the more prolific labels with regards to progressive trance and while not one of my favorites I'm a bit of a completionist. True, I keep collecting all the seasons of The Simpsons on DVD even when they stopped being funny a while ago. So with that piece of info there was no way I was going to let this fly under the radar. The usual suspects are represented and it looks fairly impressive. Arped is a great way to open with catchy bass and a huge beat. A good time track to be sure. The problem for me is that this label then tends to go off the reservation after hooking me with the first track. Phaxe did an adequate job, but the Pumping Sound remix left the melodic frontier and hung out in weird sound techno town. Extraordinary picked up right where the previous track dumped me with harsh metallic sounds and pain in the ass house-like samples. Whattya want it's from DJ Fabio, I shoulda seen it coming. Countdown has an interesting break, but its lack of evolution bores me. The Spin Spirit remix has more agonizingly repeated samples that make it unlistenable. Automatik brings some much needed Balkan talent to the compilation, but even they can't save this. At this point it's a bit like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Just when I thought it couldn't get more pathetic Up On You proves me wrong with the embarrassing "I want you" sample. Ugh I'd rather slam my fingers in a car door than go through that again. Aquafeel has made some good tracks to be sure, but this ain't one of them. Somehow he managed to make it sound as if he was covering Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene. The momentum (typed that with a straight face I did) killing phone call and mouth music also had me rubbing my temples. Finally (Thank God) the Audiomatic remix of Dr. Lupo closes things out and is actually not bad. It has a catchy melody and no stupid sample to screw it up. Dr. Huxtable can I get a ruling on this? Oy what a sh*tshow that was. This was a descent into me throwing my headphones across the room and fighting the urge to clean my floors. Obviously there is a market for this type of progressive trance, but if you like the deeply atmospheric and melodic stuff look elsewhere. The cover tells the whole story as he's hanging on for dear life. Another performance like that and he might try to hang himself with his own cord. Psyshop Beatspace GoaStore Mdk
  10. Artist: Atyss Title: Lux In Nocte EP Label: Planet B.E.N. Records Date: September, 2012 1. Equinox 2. Noctum "There's no solution here." You said it I didn't. Geez, I guess my photo hosting service stopped putting restrictions on the size of the jpeg. Could that be any bigger. Some would say I'm compensating and to them I would say shut it. Atyss in Gregory Morand from France and I'm no the fence with his music. Compilation work? Pretty good, but his album lacked the unbridled fury that I was used to in his tracks. Lux in Nocte is a brief 2 track EP that unfortunately hasn't changed my opinion. At times it moves from powerful music to electronic wanderings. Almost as if it's unsure of it's own identity. It's not acid heavy night time insanity, but neither is it the abrasive and sometimes disjointed dischord of Artifakt. There were parts of each song that I liked, but I wasn't sure how to enjoy it. Do I attempt to dance madly (emphasis on attempt) or do I try to contemplate his tale. So I came away feeling confused. Then I got a headache. After some aspirin I took a dump and played with the kids for awhile. The middle of Noctum had some potential, but it couldn't maintain the drive. There is real talent here and I hope he can put it together for his next album. Beatport Mdk
  11. Artist: Alienn Title: Unlimited Force EP Label: Kaos Krew Date: September, 2012 1. Unlimited Force 2. Destruction "Go get the sandwiches we're hungry." Looking to stay one step ahead of Subway, Quiznos begins experimenting in non-traditional markets. This is Patrik Ferreira from Switzerland and I would be fall over shocked if you didn't already know that. His album Cosmic Matter was an intense experiment in acid management. Good news people, he shows no signs of relenting. If the dance floors were a raging forest fire his solution is to throw a bucket of acid on it. It'll sort itself out either way. Big beats and a rapid pace are the backbone for the two tracks with more acid per measure than I have ever heard. This is adrenaline fueled mayhem that is not to be taken lightly. Unlimited Force has a little hitch in its giddy up as if he wanted to let you know he started the fire. Destruction proceeds to then fight that fire with a grenade as it pounds with concussive force. His shows must trigger earthquakes. He continues to impress with his all out balls to the wall style and this is a must have if you are a fan of the acid based twilight genre. Juno Download Mdk
