  6. nice to see a review of this here. i rather like stephens music. innovative- and sometimes the price you pay for innovation is occasional parts i dont like i will happily eat up this music including the parts i dont like versus the same-same-humdrum-nothing-wrong-but-nothing-right music. this is very NON-generic stuff. and very fun.
  7. well in pd its quite possible to erase the boundary between the 2... don't forget the *academic electronic music and avant garde stuff, sound designers, etc... what i think people would use it for in psy is psound design rather than algorithmically composing a track, allthough many (tracks) could easily be so composed. pd is loads of fun. mostly its just empowering. this guy came over, and first he said "turn your speakers down" then he connected an object called osc~220 to an object called dac~ and then we had a lound sound coming out one speaker. from there i figured out how to make a volume amplifier, wavetables, additive bandlimited "waves", simple step sequencers, hooked it up to midiwebcam and dicked around a bit... anyway, seems complicated and daunting at first, after about 2 minutes the thought comes to you that this is rather fun and just playful in fact. you just make boxes and connect them and you quickly get over the fear of numbers and words and typing... the documentation, examples, etc... are all in the package. its free. what the hell can you possible have to lose but loads of time and some totall fun?
  8. im always in europe. i live in portugal. vectorselector (at) hotmail dot com is my email tell your local organizer to book me simple...
  9. ok- check now. www.myspace.com/neurotransmitterz the mix is over-compressed and distorted i know. its a work in progress and i just wanted to get a rough update online for feedback. any pointers or thoughts? thanks aaron-
  10. my goal is to cover a wide range of sounds. i just started with this stuff so i have to feel my way around. and apparently i am incapable of normalcy so all my attempts at that will end up sounding like me. i just put part of a new track more minimal techstep. check back every week or so to hear new sounds... i'll be making a free ep with some odd trance and this material. (i dont care much about boundaries and remember when all electronic music was "techno") thanks for checking it out and the feedback. hopefully something sometime will satisfy your "harder side of dnb" desires. what can you recommend for listening in that vein? (whats hard?)
  11. dude thats a sheep ranch. and that lake is an artificial reservoir filled with runoff from that activity as well as all of ours. boom bug was probably waterborne not airborne as claimed by the orgs...
  12. Artist: Ocelot Title: 9 Lives Format: CD Label: Zaikadelic Records Cat. #: ZAICD05 Track listing: 1. Ride the WAV (preview) 2. Dream Waves (preview) 3. Bananas (preview) 4. Instinctual Logic (preview) 5. Future Communication (preview) 6. X-drive (preview) 7. Toy Boat (preview) 8. Carrier Wave (preview) 9. Thoughts per Second (preview) Fast forward to the future. Psychedelic trance takes a big leap forward with this stunning release from oCeLoT. 9 lives, 9 tracks, 1 crazy cat...this stuff is hypnotic to the max. Follow each twist and turn as you probe deeper into the unconscious psyche than ever before. Sophisticated and sexy grooves suck you into a world of shimmering surreal textures, alien melodies, with a compelling drive that won't let go. The clarity of sound quality will delight your ears. The sheer intensity and depth of this music will shock and stimulate your brain. This is music to awaken the mind. Your neurons will leap to attention. This is the ultimate antidote for the retro malaise. Screw the 80's! This is the next generation of Zaikadelic trance music. COMING OUT OCTOBER 25TH 2007!
  13. this album is great stuff. his night time sound makes other night-psy look forced and lame- his stuff is just so sexy... good basslines, tasty percussions, atmospheres are nice. and the mix is just right- always phat and always good timing- not too much of anything or any part... i recommend it
  14. i never use this plugin personally... too difficult to get controlled results... better to use the scissor... thats what editing audio is for... who says you need a bunch of plugins? 2 or 3 good synths... software or hardware... some effects... back in the day you had to make all the effects with simple fx like making chorus and flanger and phaser from short modulating delays... anyway- linplug cronox and albino are great synths. the a1 built into cubase is pretty darn cool as well... the wasp in orion as well as its excellent samplers (where are the samplers in cubase anyone?) fruity im not into but many people are...
  15. i like orion platinum a lot. people are always trying to get me to switch TO logic. many psy trance producers use it. i already used it a few years ago and found it a pain in the ass. (i learned on cubase on a mac quadra 650 with pro tools and samplecell at the studio at university.) i like nuendo in terms of crossplatform moving ahead software kinds of things. its very plush and you can customize it to the hilt down to what items are in the menus... i find many people like logic for its built in effects (in particular the eqs- which have usefull frequency placements for the various bands....) many people like the built in instruments. as a vst host its not any fancier than the rest. assigning hardware controllers to vst synth parameters is a pain in the ass in most sequencers... (hooray orion midi learn function for everything!) i like to use lots of pitch modulation on sounds. i just recently got a hardware synth called the dave smith evolver. other than that i've been all virtual for years... bom
  16. you have to go to goa after january. december is very commercial. so is the first bit of january. the local authorities allow more underground parties earlier and later in the season. during the holiday season they want you to go to the nightclubs instead. (paradiso, 9-bar, hilltop, etc...) the mountains are nice for vibe. really raw- put together with string and baling wire- minidisc dj's, patched together sound-systems, 20th generation analog copies of old GMS tracks, but great locations and fun fresh vibe. san francisco outdoor summertime festivals are always good for hippie vibe. thats my opinion...
